I'm a massive fan of ww2 (Germany specifically) and I'm so glad I found your channel last year!

Remember to study Germany in WW1, to fully understand the world of the 3rd reich, you must know what came before it, however I am sure you know this already.

Best videos on the whole damn web. I'm onboard with your drinking & smoking as well, here's to your health. I love the hobby, as just the current owner of my collection I often wonder if it's next owner will take care of it as I have. The pole top from Australia, 1,000 wonders it wasn't bent double in transit. Looking forward to your next video eagerly. Salute.

Kids today no nothing of history.Even my own kids and grand kids.They know nothing of my service during the Vietnam war and Desert Storm,much less ww2 of my dad and my uncles from D Day to Tinian.Thank,s for preserving history Tom, Wether people agree or disagree,History can't be changed..I was raised by ww2 veterans.During my time in service I was taught by men who fought in ww2.I thank god for their training and honor the memory of them.They taught me bravery in the face of death.Keep up the good work.

The beautiful horse head plaque inscription reads “For the 30th Anniversary of Service” The Veteran Officers of the 14th Divisiion. Not a horsemanship award, IMHO but possibly a Calvary Division award. Whatever, its nice!

Great video. Love that Luft honor goblet.

The knight's cross at least looked pretty good. It had the "veins" underneath that black paint on the iron center, the correct markings on the frame and loop, etc. There's some frighteningly good post-war "collector's examples" made by jewellers out there that look exactly the same so one can never be too careful.

The reverse inscription of the goblet says "Alpaka" (=Neusilber=German Silver= 60% copper, 20% tin, 20% zinc) encircled by "Feinsilber Auflage" ((99,xxx %) =Finesilver plating) followed by the manufacturers mark "Joh. Wagner&Sohn". The avers inscription says: "Oberleutnant August Wolff" followed by "Für Besondere Leistung Im Luftkrieg (For special performance in the air war). "NPEA" of the "strange animal " dagger stands for "Nationalpolitische Erziehungsanstalt" (national political education institute). It's motto "Mehr Sein Als Scheinen" would translate to "Be more than seem".

You know the man has a reputation for fair dealing when he gets a valuable item from a fer-off country with a note saying the owner would now like to sell it for "whatever you think is fair"! WOW!

Sorry that I missed him....I was hoping to meet him and see his display. We arrived and went in early.... and walked ourselves silly until 11:30am..... and that was enough. Didn't buy much.... one Japanese bayonet... but it was interesting to see the exotic stuff.

The flagpole eagle looked bent. Maybe from the sender in Australia mailing it in a soft package? Not very smart sending a nice piece poorly protected. That's what boxes are for.
@MrTruckerf Жыл бұрын
It was OK. Cast aluminum is not good at bending; if it had been stressed much it would have come out of the bag in 2 pieces.

In regards to your Shako helmet, "ErEl" IS "Robert Lubstein." "Er" is the German pronunciation of the letter "R," and of course "El" is "L" (same as in English). That "ErEl" you see embroidered inside the top panel was the stylized logo of his firm. He was a Berlin based maker and a very large number of Third Reich service dress caps were made by his firm.

Nice stuff. Though i would make a correction. "German silver" wasnt "invented" by the chinese it occurs in natural state in China & they called it "White Copper". The Germans like it so much their Alchemists came up w/ a synthetic version later which is what became known as "German silver" & the original Chinese stuff got caught up under that banner even though technically they are as diff as real diamond vs lab created.

When it went back to Poland after the war, it went back to its original name, Gdańsk, not German anymore so it is not Danzig! Don’t ever call it Danzig if you go to Gdańsk, not taken well!
