Hi Mr. Wittman. Sorry but that stone mint Gravity knife type II is 1000% postwar copy. One of the typical sign of the copy is that logo SMF if stamped on the blade instead of etched. And another sign is the arrow on the metal head has three wings and it is arrow for Weyersberg and not for SMF maker!

Good info! For that high quality one would think they would get all the details right. I would still like to have it for what it is - a darn nice knife. At a normal knife price, of course! Maybe $100 instead of $1000 for a nazi knife.

Yes Gravity is a repro! They never stamped MM on any of them. Type 1 and 2. It also had other give aways that I won’t mention but they are there….

I enjoy seeing all this quality stuff but I will never buy any because there are no doubt many fakes or even reproductions made by the original makers floating around. So many dollars involved that extremely competent forgers are bound to give it a try.

It is a modern reproduction but it is like new, as one would expect. Look online, they sell for $100 to $200. They are very nicely made, though.

The gravity knife is bad by the way! The maker mark is stamped (never done in period) they only used acid etched and by the time they made the type 2 they had to use carbon steel blades not stainless steel…. So this has the wrong blade. If you check all 3 assembly numbers they absolutely should match! And I’m sure they do not on this knife because it’s a reproduction and probably isn’t stamped in the right spot. SMF had a very specific way they did their assembly number stamps. Sorry to break the bad news……
