he was losing at the beginning of the 1st set. and they were 100% tied at the point of "controversy", in fact if the challenge had failed Fed would have been losing again. Also if Monfils had been allowed HIS challenge Fed likely would have lost the first set too. Maybe a bit of clickbait, but hardly worth complaining about.

You forget the popcorn when you watch a match as fast paced as this. Kudos to Gael who showed his intent to best Roger into submission. For once he chose to put his flamboyance in his pocket & focused on his game. But the guy across the net is not called the maestro for nothing. You need more than just your A game. Great match to feature. As always you never disappoint. Now if only we gave the popcorn to Carlos.

Very good match, lots of incredible gets and clean winners. To be honest I can’t see how Gael was complaining that he left the ball because it was called out. The ball had hit the back wall before it got called. He wouldn’t have got to it. At that point you can see Gael play just that little bit more tentative and then you see Roger add a little more spice to his shots and that’s what the difference is. Gael was playing good but good won’t get it done against Roger, he had to keep Pressing even if it meant he would make more errors. You can only go for it for so long until you realize that the finish line is within sight and you take your foot slightly off the gas and Roger seized that moment and momentum was his. The way Roger glides around the court and the footwork before each shot is a thing of beauty. How good was the return in the second point shown in the video

RF is under strain. I believe he may have a complaint with the umpire. he basically said that the umpire gave him no indication that the ball was close. having said that ...., i doubt that the umpires normally are responsible for that - though we might ask that of a good chair. RF is saying he should have looked over to him indicating the ball could be challenged. as far as Monfils - he did not challenge a call but later complained about it. that is a low-level person. have to call a spade a spade here ....

Fed is the greatest watch and shoe salesman. His tennis was sqaush and thank god nadal/dj0oki came along to save tennis from fedsqaush. Djoki beat nadal 9 times on clay ,2 times at french and Just recently at Olympics on NAdal grounds again!! Fed won 15 slams in the goldilocks era 2003-2009 when sampras/aggassi were leaving ..after nadal/djoki/murray/wawrinka got going fed's sqaush game faded away and only won a handful of GS over the next 13 yrs!!

@@sabbialmighty7249 I beg to disagree. Neither Wawrinka nor del Potro have/had the exquisite ball-volleying skills of Nadal. Watching Monfils reminded me of how Nadal annihilated Fed's aggressive play. Then again, Nadal had the high-kicking forehand on Fed's backhand side which Fed couldn't handle, and which nobody was able to replicate. Monfils upset Fed in the indoor court final of one Paris Masters. Quite an achievement, given Fed's dominant indoor play, mainly fueled, as he was aging, by bomb serves.
