God, I'm gonna miss Rafa. His retirement will mark the end of one of the greatest eras in tennis history, if not the greatest in terms of clay court tennis. His records on that surface will NEVER be surpassed. Long live the CLAY KING!

Oooops that is Rafa's homecourt. Maybe Gael thought it was cute to get cheeky & make offhand comments. But in Spain if you have something to say you need to say it "Cara a Cara" to show courtesy. Making comments to the onlookers within Rafa's earshot is bad form. Ah, we are all dreading that day when Rafa will say "no mas". I hope Rafa will continue to play.

The ref did say that Rafa had 15 seconds to get ready, whereas Monfils was allowed 25. I think that's a good rule of thumb, if that THE rule. With it, yes, the receiver should follow the pace of the server but still has at least 15 seconds to get ready. I think it's fair.

Tennis or really trying to do anything 'for real' is about mastering yourself. The more pressure and the more things don't go your way, the more difficult it is. But those are also the opportunities to grow. It's like a choice that presents itself. I can be a victim and collapse, or get back up again. I don't mean to sound self-righteous, because I'm also talking to myself. It isn't simply just about 'talent' alone. There is so much more to it.

The Commentator wonders what Monfils was like as a child ... I think we have an authentic demonstration of just exactly what he was like as a child.

The shakehand from Nadal was : Yeah, yeah, no problem, yeah yeah" but in his head : "go away, don't want to see you again"

You have no clue about tennis and even less about the relation between Nadal and Monfils. They are good mates.

Roger Federer retired due to age and now both about 38 Nadal and Novak will be hanging up their racket too soon..The form of botth of them has dipped in 2024..Its a shame that Rafa was out injured in 2023 for a year as he would have won one or two grand Slam's. The Spaniard is the greatest clay Court player ever. Gael Monfils is a great player and could have won a few grand slams but his more of a showman and isn't always focussed in a match.
