I'd easily take Federer's career over anyone else's. Some main reasons: He played the way I would like to play. He had a stellar rise to the top in his early twenties and stayed there almost uninterrupted during his physical peak years. The rest was just a bonus. Seems peRFect to me

I loved watching Federer back when he was playing Michael Chang and was number 6. I could see the ease and smoothness. At that time there were two players like that, Nalbandian and Federer. Real fans of tennis don't care too much about GOAT, only about the way each player plays the game. Each top player brings something you can enjoy and try to emulate.

@user-yd6ef1yo9d Maybe, but usually if you play the game, you tend to be audience for every way the game is played. Obviously, nearly everyone loves to watch a player like Federer except the very biased ones. But as an amateur player, I learned a lot from players like Murray, Wilander, Djokivic, etc... simply because I can never emulate anything from Federer. I play with one handed BH, but I can't learn anything from Federer's BH either. It's too hard to take the ball early, or flick like he did. It's better to watch how Wawrinka, Edberg do it.

@@kakashihatake1029 Yes Roger said the truth definitely. If I had been federer I would have said even worse about Nadal who won coz of cheap tricks. Taking a medical time out just when he is down 5-2 in the first set claiming he had injury and then breaking fed's rhythm winning first set and then for the whole match played like an animal. Roger might have won that day coz he was on fire since start. Nadal got scared coz Novak defeated him on all clay courts that year and Fed def Novak so he had to do something like this to lower fed's game. Nadal deserved every single word Roger said.

At his prime, Federer in action was pure art. He's probably the best player to ever grace the courts. But in terms of Greatest of All Time, it's time to give that title to Djokovic even though I highly dislike him. What he's achieved in his career is unbelievable. Even now when he's supposedly in decline, he's beating the best players in the world.

@DimitriMoreira
@DimitriMoreira Жыл бұрын
Federer also played and beat the best players in the world by the time he allegedly had to be "retiring" or "in decline" and most importantly, Federer lost many opportunities due to injuries, just like Nadal. Djokovic should've won since he first arrived but couldn't. I like Djoko but numbers are mathematics, they're not art. A sport is a collection of many things, none of which are mathematical principles or logic. So by saying "well, said player has more titles therefore is better" is putting all other players on even ground and negate context. If we were all machines, then sure, by all means, the machine who achieves the most is the best one. However, we're not machines are we? Human beings are not on even grounds, therefore context is needed. As much as I like Djokovic or even Nadal, between them 3, Federer is by far the best I've seen. Pure art. And Federer is not the best I've seen either. In his 2-3 year prime, Kuerten was unbelievable. And I wish I had watched Connors and Borg. I'm sure I'd also be amazed by them. People not considering Connors or McEnroe just because they didn't watch them is absolutely crazy to me. It's like saying that WW2 wasn't as bad as your regular neighborhood crime because you weren't born yet. I mean... history exists for a reason and that reason is not to be automatically discarded from day one.
@taipoxin

Djokovic getting bonus titles from playing weaker players these days. Fed played in an era against two other younger guys in peak form contending for GOAT status already. The players on tour now going against Djokovic aren't that kind of challenge. And Nadal is constantly plagued with injuries that limit his ability. But it's okay, narrow minded people only want to look at numbers and not context. If you look at each player in their peak objectively, Fed comes out on top - other than on clay, which I hand to Nadal.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Closing out is often much harder than coming back, especially when you play against return and counterpunch specialists like Djoker. Federer is the greatest tennis tennis player of all time

I went to see federer live a few times, (as well as Djokovic). Both hit the ball so sweet, but the way federer hit it was so sweet that you couldn’t even process it, absolutely the definition of tennis in my humble opinion 😜 - not because of race, ethnicity or anything like that. And the days I watched him he would literally finish the match in under an hour and a half when he was in the mood. He’s literally bageled every one of the big 3 😂

Right, just asking to list it in the description - one more line. It's a big help when sifting through dozens of such videos (and some don't mention it at all even in the video itself). Thanks for listening. @@WivoRN

History will show that Federer is not the player who won the most - just the player who played the best. Sadly, that style of play did not come with the consistency of his peers. No matter...
