​@pillopillo297 I do find Djokovic's game to be the least fun and pleasing to watch, but in terms of competition... what was Federer's competition until 2008? Roddick and Davydenko? Sure, there were good players around, but it's clearly as weak or weaker than the playing field post-2019 or so. Federer won something like 10 of his slams before his main rivals actually started consistently beating him. And that's expected, since he is 5 years older than them. But I don't buy the weak playing field theory for Djokovic. In 2011-2016, his prime period, Federer to a large extent and certainly Nadal were in peak form and he came off with more dominant results anyhow. I do find his game less fun than others', and while my last name is his first name, I've never really rooted for him. But it's a very hard numerical argument to make that he is actually worse than the other 2

Nah pretty much every modern player could go back and play with wood rackets and be number 1 in the world. The stroke mechanics and athleticism of modern athletes is just far far superior. That doesn’t take absolutely anything away from what the people in the past accomplished though. Only shows that cross generational comparisons are a bit silly and how incredible the advancements in athletics and technique have become.

A wood racket could not be played like that and the power that the tech produces today that allows these players to be competitive would be taken away. They would have to change how they play to accommodate the tech just like every player in the past did.
