Although I don't really buy gear pack usually, I think that it wasn't really what they should have done cause what about those who pay more than that. So their should be a refund or packs in equivalents paid to players. It's is a good step forward but not really enough for the issue.

I do appreciate the gesture but it kind of feels like they're saying you should have realized after 10 packs; I spent 30k crowns thinking they made ferryman gear the same drop table rarity as the mounts cause my friends got a couple pieces and other people were getting it (I honestly should have asked more people).. me thinking it was gonna be that rare from now on also made me want it more so I spent more. All and all life goes on and I wish the best for wiz and not the best for whoever was in charge of thiiiis. (cause it felt intentional)

it's pretty sad how this game who was literally magic 10 yrs ago, now it's full of whales like them who spend a lot of money for some new set like it's normal... Before the best gear of the game was from boss, now people play who spend more money...

Some whales could even suffer from disorders/mental health problems that makes them more willing or lowers the threshhold for them to spent money on these games thanks to advertisements or limited gear.

Don't you think it's a little less black and white than that? People should be able to spend as much as they want on a game they love, without the game doing things like this, simply because they have those who want to spend money on it. Can't blame the consumer because the game wants to take advantage of them, that's victim blaming. The only time spending money on Wizard101 is a problem is when these things happen, two sides of the same coin.

It’s not surprising as they half-ass everything they do. I agree you should receive equivalent number of grim ferryman packs or get a full refund. That’s why you simply shouldn’t spend money on packs in general. They’re too incompetent to fix even errors or glitches for things that cost money, let alone bugs in the game as a whole. We’ve seen countless times many mistakes they’ve made with the crowns shop in their past/history with drop rates being “too high” and wizards getting rare items from packs easily, to things costing gold on accident in the crowns shop, to releasing packs too early in the crowns shop, etc. Save your money for better things.

I can't see a full refund being feasible, and some people may have only wanted the Cerberus gear. But 10 packs doesn't really feel fair. I feel like a better method would be to give half the number of ferryman packs that you bought in Cerberus packs. (So if you bought 20 Cerberus packs, you'd get 10 ferryman packs as a refund; 25 ferryman for 50 Cerberus, etc).

With respect, it should not be half, it should be full 1:1. This is not like previous mistakes KI has made The wording they used ("updated") and description amounts to false advertising or very least 'misleading'. This resulted in mis-sold packs (not mis-bought, they were mis-SOLD) that should be compensated IN FULL. The most appropriate method for both parties would be to match 1:1 in Grim Ferryman packs for the mis-sold packs, with retaining the contents from the original pack covering the 'additional compensation' for their mistake. No customer should be worse off for misleading/false advertising even when it was done by accident.

So I came to Wiz late my highest wizard is a lvl 88 fire I haven’t even finished all the worlds but as a young adult working full time I have thought about dropping some money (not 100s lol but like 20 25 bucks) on a pack if I really liked the perm mount or spells it came with. I get it I still buy Pokémon packs from time to time as a nostalgic hobby too and it’s always a gotcha to a degree. Your never making your money back and it’s for fun once you buy a pack. However, I decided I could wait til I maxed a wiz out so I could get the best bang for my buck at least . Apparently no matter what level I buy at I could get scammed or screwed over by KI as the past year has shown. Makes me not want to buy packs or wait even longer to make sure packs aren’t glitched or hidden with scams. Or just invest in a cool crowns mount not in a pack to replace my in game gold bought Bengal tiger haha

The more I play and see grim ferryman gear, the more I think about how the 30k crowns I spent would have basically guaranteed the grim ferryman cosmetics I wanted, and the more I think about how the compensation was so little. At first, I guess my love for the game made me want to forgive and continue to play, but it's really hard to when you see items you without a doubt overpaid for and didn't get; all while knowing they could fully compensate people and then no one would be sad or mad about it, people would want to play the game more and this pretty much wouldn't be a controversy against their own paying max level players anymore. Small compensation is a slap to the face to those who paid the most and only pushes away the people who paid the most, full compensation will bring these people back and give them confidence to spend on the game again. It's only going to night and day and kingsisle is to pick which it's gonna be. I hope they see they haven't done enough.

I have a question. Have you heard anything about the new carnival bundle? In the description, it says to come on over to the bumper cars or take a ride on the rollercoaster. I bought it, and there is no bumper cars area. You cant even make one because there are no bumper cars to purchase (other than one of the spooky bundles) or craft. Even so, they wouldnt be interactive so that others can play too. Whats the deal with that?

They could've just released the packs separately instead of over-complicating things and causing this to happen. I don't like that they're trying to make "new" packs out of old packs. All it does is make it harder to get the gear you want, and they know that. This is a scummy practice and this refund is not going to cut it.

They absolutely can track your purchase history, and if I'm not mistaken you can track it too on the wiz website. They should give all the packs bought back to people to open again with the chances of getting the thing you want actually proper. And also correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't this constitute as false advertising? I mean people bought the pack because they were told they could get said items but in reality there was zero chance of them getting it.

What I am upset with is I spent around 15k in crowns on that pack, then a few days later, they add rewards based on how much crowns you spend. Given, the rewards aren't that good unless you're spending like 60k+ crowns but still. Lol.

if you get crowns on sale where it's $1/1000c then that's $4 worth of packs. however, for some younger kids, they'd probably have to buy a physical card in the store, and that'd be $10 minimum

the thing is is that money is already spent on the crowns in game. there is literally no way to get a refund, (maybe unless you go through some sort of claim) so KI wouldnt be losing anything by refunding the full amount of however many packs were bought. its not like those crowns wouldnt be spent on something else in game. 10 packs do not justify. Imagine during the past couple of days remaining silent, KI could use those time to trace back the record and reward players accordingly to the amount they purchased. Then when KI comes out with the apology today, it would really create a much better image. Simply giving 10 packs to all affected players, that literally shows the amount of care they could give at this point. After big mess, giving small compensation and people saying at least it's better than nothing. For me it's just sad for a game of 14 years. They have sucessfully set the bar low and people accepting it.

Honestly to fix all this just give everyone that spent money on packs pieces of the gear according to how much they spent.... So like 50 dollars half the gear... 100 or more full set... That'd be far more fair and it would show they weren't money grabbing it. I know some people would complain and say that's Bs because they spent 50 and only got half the gear... A lot of people can spend hundreds and only get a few pieces it's rng folks... But imo doing it this way would give everyone the only thing they were missing from the packs and it wouldn't be a full refund... Just refunding the only thing missing from the pack because people got all the other items so just hand out the set instead of giving 10 packs and money grabbing another pack for people to buy lol

Some people open wayyyy more than 10 packs thats just a really bad response to what happened. They should have given back half of what the player spent, at the least. The reason they didnt want to is because everyone who opened those did get other items from the packs which usually are mostly housing items and things you just dont want or need. Unfortunately the gear is locked at the level you bought it at so it will always be level 10 :( definitely next time open any gear on your highest level so it’s the best gear available. It would be great if they implemented a way to “upgrade” gear over time though!

Honestly? This was the last nail in the coffin for me. I've been playing since launch day, and this game has just been making poor decision after poor decision with good ones sprinkled here and there. I was one of the people who spent a few hundred to get the gear, only getting to a few hundred because I wasn't getting a single piece of the ferryman set. 10 packs is not sufficient in this case and i feel it's them trying to capitalize on their profits without having to fully refund. I am incredibly disappointed and at this point, have quit the game. Looks like I'm finding another mmo to invest my time in.
