Wizard101| This Raid Gear Exploit Is Getting Players BANNED!

Seems like we can never go too long without some more wiz drama, so let's get into it. This time around there's a HUGE controversy related to players abusing an exploit to get a ton of Crying Sky Raid gear without actually beating the raid, leading to a 4 week suspension for offending players. Last week in destiny 2, a bunch of weapons were glitched which was allowing people to deal 100xs more damage than normal. The devs told the players to have fun until they could fix the problem. No one was punished, and the devs created one of the most fun weekends that the game has ever seen.

Oldschool runescape had a similar case after a patch where the most powerful weapon in the game had a bugged infinite spawn on the ground in a popular area. Game was rolled back, noone was banned.

Yeah, but acquiring said guns weren't raid locked, and the guns got nerfed Soooo...... Unless your solution is to nerf the gear, this isn't really aptly comparable

yeah considering there will be power creep with upcoming paid packs, people purchasing this gear is one weak ass exploit. i didnt even do it but i think its petty of kingsisle to do this.

Nobody should be allowed to keep the gear they got. Some players got half a dozen pieces if not more. It gives an unfair advantage in PVP and is just a slap in the face to anyone who doesn't have it. Some people won't even need to do the raid because they already got the gear when they shouldn't have. The 4-week ban is fine, but allowing everyone to keep their items is honestly the wrong move here. The best guilds still haven't beaten the raid legit. And it'll be longer than a month until a guild actually completes it. We still don't even have solid strategies for the Azteca raid yet. People are still going to be locked out from this gear for months, and with Wallaru right around the corner, it may not even matter all that much soon.

Being badge locked is such a good idea! Too bad every item that requires a badge in this game to be worn doesn't exactly work like that, so there might be some push and shove.

I don't know, but when I see that KingsIsle is allowing players to KEEP the raid gear they exploited it makes me think that any exploit in the future SHOULD be manipulated and used

Personally I think KI should have taken away the gear that people got and refunded them, but the people that got it should not be punished in any way. I haven't attempted the raid, but a lot of people probably just thought KI was cashing in like they seem to have been doing a lot lately. Why should they be punished for what was only later confirmed to be an accident by the devs?

I would consider an exploit something malicious and forced, not just something a person could come across. Something they had to find and test and specifically circumvent obvious and intentional blocked paths. Like if they had to port while a bag was open or something, or be in a specific realm exactly on the hour.

It is not a mistake to buy a ton of crowns for the purpose of exploiting a glitch to acquire gear for a competitive advantage It is exploiting. Regardless of its presence, you made the choice knowing it was against the rules

Currently all badge locked gear is locked to buy, not to use. Furthermore, I wouldn't, as a legit player, want to have to beat the incredibly hard raid multiple times on multiple wizards to be able to use the gear on them

I don't think any player should ever be punished by a mistake made by Game Developers EVER. Regardless if it's exploit or not.

If it was badge locked, youd only be able to wear the gear on that one wizard you completed the raid on, its a good idea otherwise but it wouldnt work fully

Honestly, I think, Wizard101/Kingsisle is going downhill, I stopped playing after they introduced spellements, and all I'll say is that Kingsisle doesn't really care about it's players anymore, and just cares for those whom spend massively in the game. And honestly it's going to just get worse from here. The game I fell in love with in my youth is no longer there. :/

My Opinion as a semi F2P player who only buys membership every few months: they shouldnt ban people for opening the chest esp. not if you pay crowns for that, it was their fault for implementing that without thinking too much about it, but even then they should've just worked on balancing the dungeon so it was doable instead of just putting a chest there and THEN even banning people who use the chest.

people seem to not be able to understand that there is no reality where a developer should enable the players to abuse exploits if they find them. it is completely in the right to ban players who exploit a glitch, namely to gain pvp advantage/etc. It's not the developers fault those who got banned had bad self-control.

the only exception, and i domean the only possible exception, is if the exploit is either purely cosmetic and no advantage, or something purely fun with no advantages for pvp/raids/etc

Yeah, it's crazy that people are pissed that they're being held accountable for their own actions. Exploiting for competitive advantage is against the rules in damn near every game that has any form of ranked competition

Honestly Idk why so many players are so entitled. KI has been banning people for exploits a LOT more than normal and so maybe throwing your hands in the air like a child who can't know better is a bad idea.

Kinda crazy how KI expects the playerbase to report every little bug and cranny and if not, the player gets punished if they accidentally or purposefully exploit a bug that the player ran into unexpectingly. Like no, I'm not doing that. 1. I don't get paid to report stupid shit that doesn't effect me, thats kinda their job. 2. I play this game to have fun and chill. Not looking for bugs and reporting everything like a scout. I didn't partake in any of this cause I'm not in a guild, but this is my two cents. I will say, at least it wasn't a perm ban, that would have been foul but not surprising.

@@failpip4235Those players also didn’t “accidentally” get gear for free. That would be a different story if no real money was spent. Also, whether you like it or not, players don’t have morals in this game for a company doesn’t respect players time nor wallets so get used to bad actors being in the community. So yeah people will take advantage whether you like it or not and it’s not players jobs to report bugs since we’re not the devs. Actions have consequences yes but in this case, those players probably are willing to risk their accounts being suspended. If anything it’s a 1 month vacation from a grindy unappreciative game and you still get to keep gear. Those players are probably laughing & are happy at the trade off which really shows just how much KI likes making players waste time.

The badge lock idea is great. As someone who hasn’t touched this game in at least a year it kinda pisses me off hearing that they even got banned in the first place. Like KI released an INTENTIONALLY difficult dungeon, then realised they messed up so added a second chance chest which you have to pay additional money to roll, then when people took advantage of a mistake THEY made, they get punished? Like the suspension is infinitely better than a ban, but there shouldn’t have been punishment anyways. And it the gear is strong enough that it hinders players who don’t have it, they should have balanced it better or ensured that something like this didn’t happen.

Basically, they thought the raid was good to go, but the glitch/exploit didn’t show up during testing, only once it went to live realm, so they didn’t know about it ahead of time. They then disabled raids to fix the issue, but only after a few hours had passed.

Thats what they are telling us... Since 2008, nothing like this has ever happened. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one. Being that a dev forgot to turn off a flag for testing purposes and pushed it to main without any QA involved. @@Zaepha

I wouldn’t call this an exploit, it’s a epic failure of the devs. They put pay to win gear for the past 12 years in lottery packs and get made when players spend money on a second chance chest? Clowns. Money is money and banning accounts loses more money than a few people getting more pieces of gear in an Un-ending MMO

Im a content creator on twitch and i opened the chest and got all the gear, put it in the bank and never used, i think personally this just dumb, the suspension doesnt do anything if the raid isnt beaten and Major which made most of the guides, good friend of mine is gatekeeping guides till we are back so it just slows people down

not an exploit it's a bug. players didnt have to do anything to get the chest to be there. bad coding is the reason. buying the gear itself is their issue. but for kingsisle to blame players and say they "exploited" is ridiculous. it's ki's fault they put a crap code and players for spending hundreds on it. but for them to solely blame players does not sit right with me.
