Come June I'm planning on moving into my car! I'm a little worried because I have a Honda Fit so there really isn't that much room at all but I'm done paying rent so I'll figure it out. I'm tired of making excuses for why I can't do something in my life and this will be a big step forward for me!

Jillian D I've seen people take the passenger seat out and put a bed there it actually looked pretty comfortable.

Mike Van man that's what I did with my corolla wagon when I stayed a week in it. upgraded to a van so I can cook in it lol. everything else is doable in a small car
@jilliand65917 жыл бұрын
Mike Van man i saw that video too not sure if I'll do that but I'll be staying around my home town so I can keep my job and save up a little so I'll be mostly urban camping this summer and fall and I think that would make it less stealth if I took that seat out.

much respect are you car dwelling yet? I rent in a home but really want to do this I have a older smaller Mercedes I was thinking of doing this in or waiting to get a used class c motorhome not sure yet. how's everything so far
@amanda18387 жыл бұрын
Great video! I traveled around for a couple of months living out of a small car last year. Didn't have any of the fancy stuff, just the basics. I originally was supposed to do it in an SUV, but that car died right before I left. I almost didn't go after that, because I was worried about living in a small car, but I'm so glad I did. Now I'm going to be getting a van soon to do it the way I've been dreaming of. Even if I didn't have the money to get a van, I would absolutely continue in a small car. It's so worth it. So to anyone who wants to live this lifestyle but is worried about living in a small car, go for it!! It will be tough sometimes, but you won't regret it.

I am planning on getting a used class c motorhome but I have a older Mercedes I was thinking I could do this in its reliable. what car did you car travel in did you travel around the USA or ? could we email?

I always laugh when the new "wanna be" van dwellers start spending money right away on a new GoPro, a Mr. Buddy Heater and a $1500 drone thinking those "things" are what the freedom of van life is supposed to be. I like the way you're doing it. Pure, simple, loving and free. For you, it's about the people you're meeting along the way. Keep being you. I love it! :-)

Yep, good stuff! We've had to come to terms with this very thing as we are a few weeks out from heading out full time, something we have been making our way towards for a while. We have an awesome suburu outback that has taken us on many adventures and unless we find a van we can trade it for before we head out, that's how we'll start. Though the two cats are going to be introduced to tent living if it comes to that! (They adapted so well into the camp trailer we have been living in on families property and even adapted to the crazy cold month in the same camp trailer in a ski resort parking lot (see comment, previous video). We know it's time... and when you know you know, you know? Thanks for the encouraging words!

Weston, i love your videos, i hope you continue to make them. you are very insightful for being so young. i am 50 years old and my wife and i just bought our first a motor home and are selling our house and hitting the road. i know its not a van, the wife wouldnt go with me in a van. lol. maybe we will see you out there. i cant wait to start exploring the USA. safe travels, we hope everything works out for you. O ya, tell Gabe he needs to start a u tube channel he seems like a real character.

I wonder if you got stuck in the same area caravan carolyn and her crew got stuck in the AZ woods. You make a lot of good points. People make choices that is best for them. I have my own choices, reasons to wait until a first pension kicks in in 3 years, and then I can have one more guaranteed (expensive) medical test at that time, before I make my final decision. I'd be able to afford a used van at that point if the test goes ok. A car will work for some, I agree. I'd rather wait for a van to have some more space. Good dialogue about making the choice!

Great to hear. I wish you well on your tests! And thank you so much :)

such a great topic! so true! My entire life I have always put things off until things in life are perfect - and just so - my dream has always been to live a self sufficient life - you know - grow your own food, have solar, etc... I wanted to wait until I got the property, etc., before I started - it never materialized - and instead of still waiting years and years, I just started doing what I can now - in the situation Im in now, by planting a garden and making as many foods homemade as I can. Like you said - just believe in yourself and do it! LOL - that Gabe is too funny! great ending!

Been trying to figure out how to fit a bed in the damn thing because my car is wicked small (Hyundai Accent) but I'm going to basically sleep in the back seat till I figure it out. Vans are cheaper than most vehicles, if someone already has a vehicle, sell it and get a van that is cheaper than the car you already have. I'm not sure what the hold up is.
@winospamo17 жыл бұрын
Some great advice there. On the being stuck in the mud consider getting some "TruckClaws"($150) or "Trac-Grabber" ($60). Both are available on Amazon and wont take up much space in your van. Need to check you have enough clearance inside your wheel well though. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2G7gpufiLmep8U

yes that is the #1 thing to make sure that you have figured out - this lifestyle isn't free- your car will need gas, insurance, repairs and you need to eat daily- think Mcfly ! always think first and dont even think of trying this lifestyle on a whim or a wing and a prayer. make D*** sure where your gonna get $ to fund your new lifestyle. just saying! and peace!
