"My power comes from knowledge and that can't be taken away." I'm very surprised that wasn't immediately countered by a threat of spilling coffee on the wizard's spellbook. But it would have been obvious, suppose. The ending was a nice twist. Any chance of Fighters vs Monks next?

Love your videos, Duke! But I gotta say the grammar mistake in the thumbnail really hurts to look at... 😬 It's sorcerers, not sorcerer's (because it's a plural form, those don't get an apostrophe). I'm a grammar nazi, I know (English major). I watch all your videos, so it's probably not the first time I'm commenting on your grammar. Just have someone else proofread your video titles and thumbnails, please.

The teaching methods of short lived races versus long lived races diverge massively on wizardry. To the most part... Elves generally learn it very slowly, but often more successfully. They hammer in he basics of wizardry for a hundred years, before elves can even begin to cast first level spells and the like. However, this means that wizards generally more successfully learn arcane, most surviving the process of learning arcane magic. Humans have two schools. One is the traditional ones, similar to elves, although a bit of a fast track. This is often why wizards are depicted as old men, as they spend years learning similarly to elves. Generally speaking, this method involves apprentice ship, and often is around 30 years, with initiates a bit less likely to survive then elves, but usually commonly do so. The problem is they generally learn spells in their 40s, and only become power houses in their 50s and 60s. Literally giving their life to magic, more or less. The second school of magic for humans is a fast track, spending around 10 years and learning the basics, and throwing your initiates to the wolves. Very few survive the process, and often get themselves kills by attempting to learn magic quickly. This one favors only very intelligent initiates, and those that can catch on quickly. More or less, the Darwin school of magic. The second school of magic is often the reason why human wizards often have rather large egos, many of which going into more evil routes. When you begin to take shortcuts, and have an ego because you were good enough to survive a quick tutorial on magic, you start to take more and more short cuts. Start to think others are beneath you. The evil thing is a bit of a theory tho, so don't take to much stock into it

It kinda depends on what type of games you are playing in which class is better. If you are playing in a game where almost everything is combat after combat, a sorcerer is definitely better. But playing a wizard is waaaaaaaay better when it comes to games that involve puzzles, mysteries, and investigation. Wizards especially if you choose divination are natural researchers, and the higher INT really helps. Wizards are far from "less useful" but they might be a bit less fun for alot of players to play as they are a bit more of a support role. but that being said, in just about every game I have ever played in or Dm'd the players will consult a Wizard NPC for help more often than they consult the rest of the Npc's combined.

@@nintendoboy3605 nice. But let's be honest, a wizard would've just had a spell with the desired damage type prepared. I do think metamagic's concept is cool, especially since you can take away components needed for a counterspell to function, but i still think a sorcerer got shafted compared to the wizard, mostly because of the number of spells a sorcerer gains access to.

I don't know a terribly lot about 5ed (mostly a 3ed player), but I've always found the best part about Sorcerer isn't the fact they have more slots, but the fact their magic is CHA based. This opens a Sorcerer up to a few useful skills that a Wizard won't exactly be great at. But for pure spell casting the wizard is always going to win out. The classes are defined more than simple spell slots.
