I've been watching a ton of Cherokee vids since I've had the urge to buy one, and I have to say that yours is absolutely the best looking one I've seen. Not too much, not too little, and very functional.

We have to remember that the WJ was designed as a street queen. That said, hit the brakes and the gas at the same time. It will slow the wheel from spinning and force more power to those on the ground. If you have the varilock differentials, make sure you add the exact amount of Friction Modifier to the diffs next time you change your fluid. Next step: Add lockers. If you have the 44HD rear, Spartan and Aussie are your only options. I wouldn't lock the front D30 unless you have 32's or smaller

I've always built xjs, but recently I've been seeing wjs like yours that are just as, if not more capable in some cases, that also look truly stunning with the right equipment. So I've recently started looking for a wj. I drove a 2002 v8 and I think I'm hooked. I drive my jeeps daily and even drive it from las Vegas to Moab every Easter. And the wj is such a comfortable and luxury SUV, I'm not sure I will build another xj again.

Love it! I am selling my XJ right now, and plan to get another Jeep as soon as it sells. I am really thinking hard about a WJ after watching this!

Yes. The 247 is a great t-case. When in 4Lo, it is really the same as a 242 or 231. I like the 247 though for winter driving on Utah roads. It is a pretty strong case that hasn't given me any issues.

Thanks much for the detailed response. I'm with you.. those cushy, heated leather seats are just dreamy so I'm not sure I miss my CJ all *that* much. ;o) That being said, I will definitely try the power braking thing you suggested and look into the friction modifier. I haven't done any fluid changes yet. Oh and I'm running 33" BFG/ATs on it at the moment. I have no idea what rear diff I have but I'll start researching. Maybe there's some hope for my street queen. Thanks again!

Great stuff! Although I'm a Toyota owner, you have a great looking Jeep. Nice build. I also watched your other video in the snow. I got a kick out of your username as I once owned a very mint 85 IROC Z28. Keep it up!

It can be dangerous if you aren't careful, just like any other motorsport. But if you are patient, and understand that it will take you some time to learn how to drive your rig, you will do fine. It is a great hobby, I'm addicted.

The Limited Slip doesn't work as well as it would with smaller tires, but that is fine with me. Just use the brakes a bit and the limited slip works great. I have been through many trails that "require a locker" and been just fine. It is a Rockkrawler 6.5" long arm kit (no longer made). I recommend the Claytons Offroad long arm kit.

A Rubicon was designed for offroad, lockers are the only way to overcome this problem you mention. I have my WJ set up to flex really well, so traction isn't often a problem. Rubicon was designed for off road work, the WJ was designed for soccer moms. It needs more mods to work right offroad. I love the WJ, very comfy in comparison to Wranglers when it comes to Daily Driving.

Look up Notch Customs, they acquired Icelands molds. Offroad Daddy is run by Iceland Offroad family but it doesn't look like they are producing products yet. There is also a company in Europe making some, you can find them on Ebay (I don't think they are make as thick though).

Icelandoffroad is the company I got it from. It is fiberglass...VERY strong and super light. I love it, and everyone that see's it likes the look. It is too bad that the company is having difficulties getting products out to customers, I have a couple of friends that have waited 1 year+ for their stuff, and still don't have it.

Intersting....last time I went wheeling in the Mud it took over 2 hours to just clean the mud off of the undercarriage. I told myself I would never go mudding again :) Everyone wheels their rig in the way they enjoy I guess. The mud is really fun, I just don't enjoy the cleanup.

I'm quite sure it has QuadraDrive, which has VariLock LSDs both front and rear. However, I think he needed to do a fluid change on the rear because it was definitely not engaging as quickly as the front.

I have a WJ with an IRO 4" lift. I understand it's no Rubicon with full lockers but it's just tragic. As soon as any tire leaves the ground, all the power goes there, the airborne wheel spins and I go nowhere. Is there a mod to overcome this or do i just need to get a locker system or go buy a Rubicon? Seems like such a horrible design flaw.

Johny Ellis You'll find that the design isn't limited to Iceland Off-road. Kevin's Offroad (KOR for short) makes a bumper very similar, as well as a fabricator that's somewhat-local to me called Logan's Metal Products. I got one from LMP about a year ago with the winch cut-out and stuck a Harbor Freight 9000 lbs winch in it. Just gotta find a decent LINE-X dealer to spray the thing.
