A county sheriff shot and killed a judge in the Letcher County Courthouse on Thursday, according to Kentucky State Police (KSP).
State police said Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. Stines, 43, fatally shot District Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, after an argument Thursday afternoon inside the courthouse.

Wrong. Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines previously had a lawsuit filed against him in 2022 (see public records) in connection with allegations that a sheriff's deputy had pressured a woman into having sexual intercourse with him for favorable treatment. This crooked cop was the one who was breaking the law.

Court deputies have to carry guns as part of their duties, and they can carry pretty much wherever they go in a courthouse. It's only prison guards that are banned from carrying guns, and only because it's unsafe for people in close proximity to inmates 24/7 to carry guns on their person. Also, prison guards do carry and use guns, just in towers or areas where inmates can't get to.

My attorney informed that two Orders were already vacated but the judge enforced them anyway. Many judges violated more laws and made more crimes than most of the inmates.

I might have my facts wrong but regardless, I heard that the sheriff’s daughter is 17 and I looked up the age of consent in Kentucky. It is 16 so bye all accounts she’s legal. it still seems wrong though for a grown man to sleep with a 16 year old, so I have empathy for the Sheriff- if my facts are right.
