@HoloRC5 ай бұрын
@isabellind1292 - natural gas (tasteless, odorless, colorless) is mixed with an oderizer chemical called mercaptan. It smells similar to bad eggs or sulfur / fart-like smell. If you rupture a gas line of that size as this crew did apparently, more than likely you have only a few minutes to alert people before the gas finds an ignition point. You wouldn't smell it before it would be too late with a building of that size. Natural gas / methane dissipates quickly in the open air but if you have a leak within an enclosed space, the gas will rise to the highest point, to the ceiling, up elevator shafts, in cooling vents / etc - in the same way that water moves into spaces by gravity. Once ignited, the building itself becomes a bomb. If you smell mercapin - walk back to where you didn't smell it - if in a building, get out quickly and report the gas leak as quickly as you can.

@@ladylucifer5044 that was very poor guidance from the HS, as this video footage clearly shows. In the elementary, middle and high schools I attended, we were to evacuate as soon as we heard the fire alarm, no matter what. Admittedly, I had an alcohol abuse disorder when I was a teen, high functioning at that, and took advantage of this. Got expelled in 10th grade, lost my newly obtained drivers license and did 90 days in juvenile lockup, mandatory alcohol/drug screening and treatment as a condition of probation following my release until I was 18, after which I obtained my GED and studied to be an electrician. I pulled the fire alarm because my locker was in the process of being searched, as I had a bottle of ginger brandy in my backpack, which I brought with a fake ID at the liquor store a block from where I lived at the time, and alcohol soaked gummy bears that I had shared with over a dozen students over a period of days. Everyone evacuated but ultimately the ginger brandy, gummy bears and wallet with fake ID was found in the locker. This would have been in October of 2005, roughly a month after the school year began, and celebrating 11 years of sobriety.

That and the fact that if you're in it and the elevator stops between floors you will be fried like a chicken breast in an air fryer. And that won't happen quickly because the elevator will 'protect' you from smoke and oxygen depletion caused by the burning material in the fire. Those two things are what normally kill people relatively quickly in a fire. Still a horrible way to go but in the elevator scenario there will be oxygen to breathe and little to no smoke to suffocate you quickly.

As a fire alarm inspector, I always recommend leaving the building if you hear a fire alarm going off and you are unsure if it is a test. Most places, especially residential, require a 24 notice prior to fire alarm testing. You as a tenant are obligated to know of this tested. Unless you are told that it is a test by a fire safety officer or life safety technician, don’t risk it. Leave the building and make sure you and your loved ones are safe. The fire alarm is there to protect lives. In most cases the system can detect things other than Fire such Natural Gas, Carbon Monoxide and much more. Just do what is safest for you and your loved ones. If you hear a fire alarm and have to question it, make no mistake and consider it real.

It's called shock and trauma, leads to PTSD, which could be temporary with the right support and knowledge that you made it out alive, safe and did the right thing. Where I lived in Portland we had firedoors between sections of the building that would close and electromagnets would prevent the doors from being opened, they were even installed on the elevators, all of which would immediately travel to the ground floor preventing anyone from using them. The doors were placed purposely to prevent fire from burning the next section of the building and were placed at firewalls that divided the building. There was about 3-6 apartments depending on the section of building per fire block. Each one had their own stairwell per block. The alarms would sound in every apartment, every corridor and in the courtyards and garages. You were basically forced outside of the building for safety. Additionally any heating or air conditioning in any unit would automatically turn off the second the fire alarm went off. That was to prevent feeding the fire more oxygen and prevented it from moving from unit to unit with smoke. Pretty advanced and this was 25 years ago.

In normal times the magnets hold these doors open so you can pass through. In a fire alarm the magnets STOP holding these doors open so they can swing shut and contain the smoke and fire in that section Once the alarm is over the magnets start working again and we just push the doors back into their open position.

This is My blessing that comes to you. My words touch the hidden secret in every person; everyone has serious wounds, and I am the good physician who heals them: Just come into My presence. In My presence, you will surely achieve all things, and surely both of you will see and enjoy all the blessings that you cannot even imagine. Beginning of creation the world, I began to predestinate and choose this group of people, which you are now. Your behavior, abilities, appearance, stature, the family you were born into, your work and marriage-the your whole being, even the color of your hair and skin, and the time of your birth-are all arranged by My hands. Even the things you do and the people you meet each day are arranged by My hands, as well which is also the fact that bringing you into My presence today is actually My arrangement.) Almighty God said BLESSED are those WHO have READ My WORDS and BELIEVE them WILL COME TRUE. I WILL NOT CRUELTY YOU; I WILL FULFILL for YOU what YOU BELIEVE. This is my BLESSING COMING to you. 🙏 My WORDS touch the hidden secret in every PERSON; ALL have GREAT WOUNDS, and I am the GOOD PHYSICIAN who HEALS them: just come into My presence. ☀️🙏 WHY do I say in the FUTURE there will be NO SORROW and NO TEARS? Because of this. ☀️ With Me, everything is accomplished, but with people, everything is corrupt, hollow, and deceitful with people. In My presence, you will DEFINITELY ACHIEVE all THINGS, and both of you will DEFINITELY SEE and ENJOY ALL BLESSINGS you can't even imagine. Those who do NOT COME CLOSE to Me are truly rebellious, and truly those who resist Me. I will certainly not pass them lightly; I will punish this kind of people severely. Remember this! 😪 As People COME CLOSER to Me, the more they GET--but it is only GRACE. Later, they will RECEIVE more BLESSINGS. BEGINNING to CREATE the WORLD, I began to PREDESIGN and CHOOSE this GROUP of PEOPLE, which NOW is you. 🙏💐 Your BEHAVIOR, ABILITY, APPEARANCE, HEIGHT, FAMILY, WHERE YOU were BORN, your JOB and MARRIAGE----your WHOLE, even the COLOR of your HAIR and SKIN, and the TIME of YOUR BIRTH- --ARE all ARRANGED by My HANDS. EVEN the THINGS you do and the PEOPLE you MEET EVERY DAY are ARRANGED by My HANDS, as WELL as the TRUTH of BRINGING YOU into My PRESENCE NOW in TRUTH is My ARRANGEMENT. ⚘️🙏 Don't trouble yourself; YOU must PROCEED CALMLY. 🙏 What I ALLOW you to ENJOY NOW is a PART of what you DESERVE, and it is what I DESTINED in the CREATION of the WORLD. 🙏 Everyone is very serious: if they were not so stubborn they would be completely shameless. They cannot accomplish things according to My plan and arrangement. 😪 Don't do it again. In Me, all are set free; do not bind yourself, as there will be a loss with regard to your life. Remember this! 🙏 From "The WORD Appears in the Flesh". holy book Fulfilled in "In the beginning He was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). ... (Ezekiel 2:9-10). ... and "His garment was stained with blood. He was called the "Word of God" (Rev. 19:13). 📩 All who have "ears to listen" are led to what the Spirit of God is saying in His lowered and built kingdom/Church engraved with His new name, His totality, the ownership of this disposition, "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD "💐 fulfillment from what was said He to Peter 2,000 years ago recorded in (Matthew 16:18-19). His Coming is the fulfillment of all that was prophesied in the great book of Revelation, so the last "Salvation" He brought the whole truth, the way for eternal life. So the "victorious" ones who will receive them are the wise "virgins" because as recorded in the prophecy of His return no one knows it except the one who will receive it! So "come" and come to His kingdom/church standing in the holy place in the air/KZbin! This is also a fulfillment from the book of (Isaiah 2:2/9:6) which He first fulfilled in His first incarnation. 📥 "They say with a loud voice, "Salvation comes from the Lamb, and from our God who sits on the Throne!" (Rev. 7:10). ... and (Isaiah 2: 2 / 9:6) "On the Last Day, the mountain on which Jehovah's temple stands will stand out above all the mountains. All nations will flock there. " . I live in a high rise building. In the past 2 years the alarms have gone off maybe 25 times. Once was vandalism, once was from a sprinkler line break, twice were smoke from cooking and all the other times were unconfirmed. It' hard to pay heed when all you experience are false alarms.
@djshiva4 ай бұрын
That happened in my work building a lot. I always evacuated. I would rather be annoyed than dead.
@SkyFyre24354 ай бұрын
It's really not, if you aren't lazy or have mobility issues. You don't know why the alarm is going off, and even if you know it's probably a false alarm, it's just ignorant and downright stupid to believe it's _definitely_ a false alarm. The bottom line is that you _don't know,_ and if you'd rather take the risk of dying in a structure fire instead of evacuating the building for 30 minutes, you might want to rethink your priorities. My elementary school had problems with the fire alarm system one year, where we would have multiple false alarms every month (the company that maintained it didn't know what they were doing, but that's another story). But we evacuated every time it went off. Because we didn't know if it was a real fire this time or not.
@ohboah3204 ай бұрын
@@SkyFyre2435 You are missing the point. The point is that when you cry wolf, people start to pay no heed. Alarms are meant to notify of a fire not that someone put flour down the trash chute and the cloud it made sets off the alarms. You are correct that someone will get hurt or die from not leaving during a real fire but in 2 years there hasn't been one. It also wastes the fire departments time and resources every time they come out for a false alarm. By the way, the alarms have gone off two more times since I posted this. No fires were found.

I test fire alarms for our customers. Once in a while, since I have to set off all the notification devices anyway to ensure they all work, the customer will use that as an unannounced fire drill. I was at a casino last year and the alarm went off and nobody moved; they just kept playing their machines. I wasn't really concerned that there was a fire... its always a possibility but I was really concerned at how nobody reacted. I made my way to the front and waited for my sister to come. I am a firefighter but not in that county so we take these things seriously and she did come quickly. I was then standing next to the door man and the conversation went something like Me: What the heck? Do they not hear the alarm? Him: Oh, this happens several times a week; nothing's wrong. Me: How do know that? Him: Because security told me that the system says the fire is right there (pointing toward the cashier desk)... Do you see any fire here? Me: So this is a regular thing?... Okay, bye then. I've not stepped foot in that complex since. I did report it to several agencies in writing so hopefully that helped them get their crap together and fix that alarm.

I was a fire marshal for the company I worked for, we had a real fire and a fire alarm but the management refused to leave the building as they were convinced it was a drill despite me telling them to leave. My Grannyville apartments say, “Stay in your room if the alarms go off”. Of course, we are all electric (no gas) and have REALLY SOLID apartment doors. So, SMOKE in the hallways is more the danger here. Wet towel under the door would be best practice. Also each room has large windows but, I don’t see grannies bouncing from two and three stories up as a good idea. By the way, our alarm system triggers the fire department automatically. Hook and ladder will show up in minutes. That has happened several times. Same with PD. Just remind granny not to leave plastic stuff near the cooker and remember where the fire extinguishers are. Come to think of it…be back in a minute.

Just because you do not see and smell smoke does not mean you ignore the fire alarm thinking it is a false alarm. Best to get out once the fire alarm goes off. How the woman describes how she barely got out of the building before the gas explosion sounds like what you see in movies when it comes to how close you were to a disaster.

That is one heck of a good building. Most modern designs could not have withstood such a blast and remained in repairable condition. Unless there are dishonest motives afoot, this building should be back in service in a matter of months. Credit to the great men who designed and built it.

@@billhosko7723 "its a saying" a way of speaking. I could have said they was lucky, but lucky doesn't describe the extreme danger they escaped as well as saying God was with them. But if the other dude died, I could have said what did he do to piss God off! See there's no win, so why bother lol

Please tell us which State for overseas viewers. Yes, we can google it but if it's on KZbin it's nice to know straight away, preferably in the heading.

She was hit by the concussive force of the explosion, was close enough for it to knock her glasses off. Later has body aches and memory problems. I'd be on my way to the hospital to get checked out for a traumatic brain injury
