I remember and love the "ABC Sunday Movie" intro and theme music! What great memories of the 1970's when, although there were difficult times in the world, at least back then in the pre-internet era people were sane, cared about each, were tolerant and even accepting of other people's viewpoints and not so damned "me"-oriented!

It was unseasonably cold out my way, suburban Philly, when this aired so I always associated watching this with babysitting pipes to make sure they didn't freeze.

This is the first Ive ever heard of this version of A Christmas Carol. Wonder why nobody shows it these days. Or release it on DVD.

This reminds me of another made-for-ABC holiday remake, 1977's "It Happened One Christmas", which was a retelling of "It's A Wonderful Life", with Marlo Thomas taking over the role originally played by Jimmy Stewart, playing Mary Bailey, the daughter of Peter Bailey. The film, like "An American Christmas Carol", premiered on "The ABC Sunday Night Movie", and also is relatively unknown today.

I liked this when it was first on because it wasn't shot in the House Style of other ABC TV Movies(in other words, light it and shoot it as quickly as possible), but a lot of other people didn't.
