Neat idea with the door mat. I got an $8 yoga mat that I cut in half, and doubled up. The top piece got holes cut out so it created small trays when stacked on top of the bottom piece and glued. @RCModSquad3 жыл бұрын
The amps are a bit of a funny thing. It depends on the gearing on the car. If it’s geared fairly low then it wouldn’t ever draw even 30 amps. It also depends on what the “C” rating of your battery is. If the “C” rating is low it can’t supply 35 amps even if the ESC needs it. On the other hand if you gear the car really high and use a 100C battery it could easily overload the ESC.

Can someone explain the “gyro” to me? I don’t understand what the point is. How they help or hurt.
@RCModSquad3 жыл бұрын
The gyro senses the direction of the car and tries to maintain the direction you were trying to go. If you have ever been in a skid in your car, you steer into the skid to regain control. The gyro does the same thing. When you take off and the car starts to spin out the gyro tries to maintain the original direction even if the car is actually a bit sideways. It’s not perfect and is effectively limited by the servo power and speed. Even if the gyro is giving the correct correction angle the servo may not be able to respond fast enough.
@jimmyv17533 жыл бұрын

I have a blue esc that looks similar to yours 120a everytime I hit the throttle it jitters for about 2 seconds before it goes I'm not sure what the problem is.
@RCModSquad4 жыл бұрын
It sounds like it’s cogging. You need to pick up a programming card. They are around $12. It programs the ESC. You need to turn the “punch” down. Probably if you pick the car up it won’t do it but when you put it back down it will jitter until it gets rolling. You can also try to push it as it takes off. If that makes it go away then you know it’s cogging! I’ll be using a programming card in my run video. If I get home early enough I’ll do that later today and post it Thursday morning. hi, just bought one of these for my son! What are the things to buy for preventing errors? Ive read that the suspension needs to be filled with oil because they are dry? Is that true? Also do i need to get metal gear for the motor? Read that they get broken pretty fast. Also im looking for some longer lasting battey! Can you recomend some? Thanks
@RCModSquad4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by. All my shocks (I have 3 of these) have had oil in them. I’ve heard claims that the differentials don’t have grease but none of mine were dry. They are not filled with grease and for the purpose of lubrication don’t need to be. However, I prefer to fill the rear differential with a fairly heavy grease. It functions as a bit of a limited slip differential and helps the car go straight from a full throttle punch. The pinion gears are metal and the spur gears are plastic (it looks like nylon) and even on 3s with my brushless motor I’ve never broken one. So far, the ones I’ve seen that broke have been using adjustable motor mount. The factory mount is non-adjustable and has a bearing on the driveshaft that prevents deflection and keeps perfect alignment of the pinion and spur gear. The adjustable mounts don’t use the bearing on the driveshaft so the motor can push the spur gear over far enough to cause the gears to slip and damage the teeth. One other thing worth mentioning is this car uses a pretty rare gear pitch. It’s .7 MOD and I’m not sure the people having the issue of broken teeth are using the correct pinion gears. A .8 MOD or 32p will kind of go together and seems like it will work BUT it will not. Sorry for the delay with my answer. I recently broke my back so I’m not moving very fast right now. If you have any more questions please ask away and I’ll get back as fast as I can. Have a great day and be safe out there!

@@RCModSquad Hi, thanks fo the long and detailed answer! So no need for metal gears. But metal differntials are a good idea right? I have a question about the shocks. Someone wrote an article about this car, and he said, that all of them comes with way too much oil in it, which isnt good. So he recomend to loosen the shocks oilcap(dont know if thats the correct name of it) and press the shock so it pumps out a the amount of oil that is too much. Also one guy recomended me to use 300cts in front and 600 cts in rear suspension. Why is this cts important. What oil do you use? Maybe this arent so important to follow, but im a very precise person and like to make things correctly and the way its best. Also is it normal, that my 144001 rc car has a weird whell alignment? The front wheels almost face outwards? They are very loose and i dont knwo if that is normal. You can move them in and out. I mean if you look the wheels from the front. Not from above. @@johnwhite8985 if it will fit in the car it should work. The mAh is just for the run time. The “C” rating determines how fast it can deliver the power. If you stick to 25 -30 C you should be fine. i like the brushed version...is there a gyro at there that works with all the stock equiptment??? i can't find anyone that gives info on this...thanks
@RCModSquad3 жыл бұрын
No, the stock servo is 5 wire and all the available gyros I’ve found are 3 wire. You could still stay with the brushed version. You would have to chance the ESC to something like a hobbywing 1060 and you could use a DumboRC with gyro receiver.
@roadstar4993 жыл бұрын
@@RCModSquad that kinda sucks.... i wonder if any other rtr s would be a better choice... i definitely want a gyro... to bad they don't sell just rolling built chasses where you add all your own electronics... @@roadstar499 there are a few cars like the q901, q902 and q903 use a three wire servo BUT the gyro is built into the receiver so you would still need to replace the radio, receiver and ESC. There are a few companies that make roller kits but they are more $$ than the 144001 and others in that class and you would still need all the same parts plus a motor.

@RCModSquad4 жыл бұрын
Wow! Sorry to hear that. I am running stock diffs but I did open them up and add grease to them. There are upgraded metal diffs available. I’m pretty sure the set for the WLtoys 12428 fits this car also. Just be careful because technically the ones in there are sold as “metal” and they are but they are a really soft alloy. I haven’t personally tried the ones for the 12428 but I might just try that so we know for sure. BTW: Just about any wheel bearing grease will do. I use white lithium grease like you would use on boat axle bearings because it handles water really well. Keep an eye out because I think I will order a set of those gears and do an install. The blue 120A sensored/sensorless ESC is not really 120A. It's a 45A ESC which comes with either a 45A, 60A, 80A or 120A sticker on the top.
@RCModSquad4 жыл бұрын
andrew mccluskey I still haven’t tried it but it didn’t seem likely that it was actually 120a. Thanks for stopping by and the info. Have a great day and be safe out there!
@druscanam3 жыл бұрын
@JEFFY RCee When you buy these from AliExpress (like I have) you can find this exact ESC in 4 variation 45A, 60A, 80A and 120A with the only difference between them being the sticker on top of the fan and about $1 difference in price between them all! Obviously 120A versions are most popular cause people think their getting awesome vaule when they are just paying for a sticker. I of course brought the 45A version and saved $1 😂 Also in regards to size, weight, thickness of wires, size of capacitors heat sink and fan size, it's all pretty consistant with your typical 45A 2-3S sensorless brushless ESC. ESC's rated to larger current/power are usually much larger to accommodate for the extra current/power/heat distribution with the exception of some sensored race ESC's beacuse even though they may be 120A they are 2S only so the power going through is less also being sensored including a temperature sensor they can operate more efficiently too and are also much better designed with superior quality too. Amongst RC groups, these so called 120A ESC's fail burn out alot and are usually labled as garbage. I don't think they are garbage, just extremely overatted and when people try to put too much current through them, they fry. If you treat it like a regular 45A ESC limiting your motor size, KV, weight, load, gearing ect.. to stay within 45A you'll be fine. I did fine with mine the punch from factory was set very low however that can be set via program card, not sure how the ones stickerd 120A are factory set, maybe they set them higher to make the buyer feel they are getting an ESC with more power? I don't know either way doesn't change how much current they can handel. Hope you found this useful 👍🏻

No it’s not 120 burned 2 up in 5 mins on one and burned the other one when I plugged it in. The capacitors are crap. If you replace them with hobbywing brand and use it on a touring car it will be fine.

Hey Dave I'm about to convert to brushless what is the best one for this car in your opinion
@RCModSquad3 жыл бұрын
I went with a 2845 3930kv just because nobody else was. I think the balance on the car is better. It’s a bit more hassle to do that though. If you stick to a 3650 it will be a direct drop in. The easiest way to do it is to pick up a new motor mount and pinion gear. You can reuse the old one but it takes a lot of heat to release the glue they put on all the screws. I do have a video on that in my playlist. If you stick around the 3900-ish KV level with the stock pinion you should get close to 50mph on 2s. Maybe go with a 45 to 60 amp ESC. I’m using a 35 amp on the 2845. Good luck 🍀 and let me know if if you have any more questions. Have a great day and be safe out there!

@@johnporter1613 I have a link in the description to the Radiolink and DumboRC radios and either one is a good option. It looks like the DumboRC with the Gyro receiver combo is all out of stock. You could still get it but you would have to buy the gyro receiver separately and that would raise the price by $16. The Radiolink does have the gyro receiver with it. The Radiolink will allow you to name and control 10 different cars or you can have two profiles on one car. One for bashing and the other for speed runs. That’s pretty handy so you just choose the speed run name and all the profiles for everything are already set then just switch to the other name and you’re back on the bashing profile. There’s also a link to a steering servo that a direct drop-in.

Has anyone had faulty brushless motors and esc from new ? Or know how to test them mine works of the ground but struggles and stutters on the ground ,I'm using 45amp esc a 2838 motor 12t pinion gear as recommended with a gt6 controller !
@RCModSquad2 жыл бұрын
My guess is that the 2838 struggles to take off but if you give it a little push it is ok until you stop again. If that’s the case you need to get a programming card and turn the punch down a little. It’s what’s called cogging. Sensor-less brushless motors need to spin a bit at low load to “figure our” their timing. If you turn down the punch it helps. A larger motor like a 2845 at around 4000kv would work well with the 12 tooth pinion. You didn’t mention your KV but I’m guessing it’s pretty high. If you want to stay with the 2838 you could lower the KV rating and that would help. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day and be safe out there!
