Honestly, using the stock electronics, this thing is plenty fast…and maybe even a bit too fast. And, the motor gets hotter than I like. I’m actually considering gearing it down a bit to give the motor and ESC a bit of a break.

Love the video 👍 I bought these two gears but I can fit the second floor because of the gear height, any idea how to over come this problem? I'm thinking of swapping them around?

Hi mate! I encountered the same problem. I actually cut the spur gear cover off completely. If you switch the gears, you'll drastically change the spur to pinion ratio. What size spur and pinion do you have?

question for you, did you replace the lower support plate back on? or did you modify it somehow.... it seems that pinion gear is too thick to have it back on? thank you

G'day mate! I'm not 100% sure I know what you mean, but here's what I retained and removed, so hopefully within that I'll have answered your question. I kept the motor mount (with a fair bit of modding to fit the larger spur gear). I removed the plastic covers for the spur gear, both the bottom piece that attaches to the chassis and the top bit which is moulded into the plastic top plate. I also removed the driveshaft bearing on the motor mount, as this no longer fit. Does any of that ramble answer your question?

Having said all that, the pinion and spur that came to me in the mail were too thick. You can get thinner mod1 pinions. Just a matter of hunting. At the time, I didn't know this LOL

no I removed both the top and bottom. The support bar was what I was referring to? the gear seems to thick and will be impede installation. I will have to think of either grinding the thickness down or something else. do you have an email in your channel? I can send you pictures.

hi, thanks for the good info. If I change the pinion and spur gear to mode 1 gear(20T, 29T) on the 124019 genuine 590 motor , what is the maximum speed? Of course, it uses a 2-cell battery. thanx

Hi! Thanks heaps for watching, mate! There are a lot of variables to take into consideration for speed runs. But to be honest, keeping the stock motor and changing to mod1 gearing will not improve speed. Mod1 gearing enables you to safely run much more powerful brushless motors. I currently have this gear ratio on my 144001 with a 3660 2100kv brushless motor with a 120A esc on 4s and it does well in excess of 100kmh. I hope that helps! Cheers for watching!👊😎💯
