Hi John! You know you could have made the job a lot less finicky by taking more parts off. Sounds counter intuitive, but it's so much easier. Congratulations, you demonstrated how to do it the hard way! 👍 😂 I have the rally car. So far everything is stock, except for diy free improvements like freeing up the drivetrain, suspension, and giving it more ground clearance. To do this I extended the slide groove (which is also travel limiter) on each shock 2mm with a hobby knife, and carefully stretched the springs 5mm. No need for the supplied spring preload clips now so they're back in the box, and cut off the frame lugs around each wheel. Still handles great, and clears obstacles like the floor divider where the carpet ends easier. These are awesome little cars but require some level of skill, patience and delicate hands when working on, as well as not having fat stubby fingers.😅 Keep in mind if you're reading this and interested in getting one.

Yes I get that. But also remember that from what I have learnt, people watching my content want less steps, not more. Even if it's slightly more difficult. Most of the comments I have gotten over the years is that people do not dare to do a job because there are too many steps. To many changes to forget something. But that of course is my opinion. 😉 And yeah for the price these cars are great. Fine line between having control and not of course. That could me my skill issue though. 😂😂😂 Have a great day and stay safe. Kind regards, John.

YA SOLD ME. Mine is in the mail. Rally car looks cool. You have a video of the DIY fixes ? I want more clearance too for Rallying.

@@JamesDirtRC Unfortunately, I didn't film it as I don't make videos for KZbin. I probably wouldn't have enough continuing content to do that.

The switch in the kit allows you to install the Carbon Fiber Base Plate with a switch on the bottom. PRO TIP: When you install the Switch, it will hang down too low and catch on things when you drive. Use some M4 Nuts as spacers. They make it so the switch can be turned on but not hang as low. Cool feature because you don't have to remove the body.

I'm sorry, I should have said M2 Nuts. They are actually, .4mm in size. The switch on the bottom is cool especially, if you can charge without removing the body, or have Magnetic Bodymounts. It makes it seem more like a car you just buy, and put batteries in. You can shave the toggle on the switch down, but the nuts also creates strength and protection from side impacts.

With the threadlock. Is a smidgen more than a tad, but less that a bit? 🤔😉 There must be a way of putting a tiny (more that a smidge) bit of grease and a rubber washer to stop it being so bouncy? Id struggle to get my sausage fingers on any of those tiny oarts, so the forceps is a great idea. I have some in my fishing equipment. 😎👍🏻

More than a tab, but less than a wee bit. Yes I am sure there is a way to make it less bouncy. And yes those forcepts are my new go too tool. Hands have become more shaky and my dexterity worse so they are truly saving me. 😁🙏

@@johnrobinsonrcessentials @johnrobinsonrcessential haha. Thanks for sorting that out! 😆 Sorry to hear about your hands, etc. Is that all part of the, was it ME you have?

Yes the Fibromyalgia has gotten worse which is why I am slowing down a bit. New medicine (kratom) is helping with less pain but killed my creativity. So rather than doing so many videos I have to concentrate on quality. 😊👌

@@johnrobinsonrcessentials I wish you all the best mate, but your health has to come first. I'm always happy to see you posting new videos, even if they're less frequent. We all understand. 😎👍🏻

Does anyone make oil filled shocks for the k989?

No, but you can grease the shocks for dampening!
