thanks to both of you for taking time to do this podcast.... it is very helpful, and spot on in every way... interesting that this article by Jan Krans popped up now on the ETC blog... not a coincidence i think... scholars feels the TR position are breathing down their necks now more than ever... that's a good thing... :-)

One thing about the TR is that it emphasizes the biblical and ancient practice of Isopsephy or what we commonly know as Gematria. Which is the simple method of allocating numbers to letters to form mathematical equations in any given language. We can see this very evidently in Revelation 7:4 with the number 144,000 being described as ρμδ to write out 144,000 instead of what many modern Greek NT's put instead is ἑκατὸν τεσσεράκοντα τέσσαρες χιλιάδες and completely getting rid of the original text. This comes from a viewpoint of belief that Greek Isopsephy and Hebrew Gematria is some sort of "kballah" or some other weird numerology nonsense which has nothing to do with Gematria/Isopsephy. The "Scholars" of so called "Higher and Textual Criticism" have completely erased a biblical doctrine and ancient practice in the process. Cant have those Bible believers discovering that in their Original Hebrew and Greek that theyll find Eulers code, Pi, Sommerfields Constant, Pythagorean theorem, etc. etc. now can we? That would hurt the pockets of false bible peddlers. like Nestle Aland and UBS

I was surprised to see the article on the blog. Thanks for posting the response. I think the academy is frustrated. I’m not in the Confessional Text camp, but I have a strong interest in the Byzantine text type which is largely ignored by modern textual criticism.

Can anyone give a viewpoint on the MEV translation, which is based on traditional text?

27:17 David Martin is also known in the French-speaking world as one of the men who produced a translation of the Bible from the traditional texts into French, alongside Olivetan and Ostervald. His French Bible is still available for free on a number of popular Bible apps.
