Today they'd say Henrietta Hippo was being body shamed, calling Freddy the frog "not so smart" gives him a poor self-image, Charlie doesn't see Freddy and Henrietta as his equal, people in animal costumes is disrespectful to animals, etc.

There are New Yorkers who are just as adamant about missing "The Magic Garden" (that show's hosts, Carole Demas and Paula Janis, are also treasured by fans). Ironically, in NYC WPIX ran both that show and "Gigglesnort Hotel" (despite it not originating the latter).

I think this was on either WGN or WFLD in its initial run ( 1972-77). Nearly 200 episodes were produced. Chuck Woolery played Mr Dingle in season 1.

My mom thought I was crazy when I use to tell her about watching a show that had a talking frog and owl. I use to wake up super early on Saturdays before everyone was up to watch it so no one knew what I was talking about.
