The number that appears at the end seems to be on a really long loop of ringing and has no voicemail box. Also nobody seems to be picking up the phone which means. Who ever owns that number is no longer around. So if you somehow in the 1% chance find this girl. (Even if she is way older than here) Do not call the number notify the news block to track down the parent. (If she's still alive but seeing as the number is active but she doesn't answer. Probably means she passed away.)

The number was the number to the CPD youth department. Considering the original broadcast of Joanna's picture was in '89, and her picture was aired for hours I'm assuming this rebroadcast was done accidentally, and hopefully Joanna was found quickly after the first broadcast. The CPD youth department number also means she has to have a juvenile file with them: whether it be criminal, a runaway teen, or she was a foster kid. I sincerely hope she's okay.

I'm assuming that she was a teenager. That probably ran away from a group home. And during that time she either was killed or kidnapped. The police probably realized days later that she was gone. I'm guessing Chicago PD really didn't want to put any effort into looking into another runaway teen back then. So the police put this missing person photo at the ass crack of dawn to either say they try or get some heat off their back. That's what I'm guessing. This whole thing gives me the heebie-jeebies!!

Per a Reddit thread, this was originally meant to be broadcast once. It was broadcast throughout the night of January 14, 1989 as we know. This was on a master copy that WMAQ had. Once WMAQ realized they had the Master Copy in, they pulled it out and went to the colour bars that we see at the end of the video, after ten seconds of seeing a better (albeit horrifying) image of Joanna Lopez. my theory is that she was really missing in 1989 but in 1991 it was an accident which would explain why it cut to the colored bars. The saddest part about this is that Joanna Lopez was a real person. And these people didn’t even care about her. All they did was put her name and a random phone number and a creepy photo that you can’t even identify who it is. This sign off usually happens when most people are asleep, so rarely anyone saw this. So Joanna Lopez was most likely never found, which is really sad.
@ajc88152 жыл бұрын
I don't know why they chose to show a missing persons report in the dead of the night when most people are asleep? Could they have just done it when most people are awake? It's also bizarre they chose that as a closedown card for the station? Usually, after the national anthem is played, either the logo of the TV station or a test card shows up (and in some cases, a clock) to mark the end-of-day broadcast. It doesn't make sense that a missing persons report is the last thing to be shown on air when it should be part of the main program.

Given how pathetically lax the Chicago Police Department has historically been at doing their jobs, it doesn't surprise me at all that they find the worst possible quality of picture of this girl, and provide no information other than a name and a phone number to call.

the tone at the end was so creepy
@MeowBockbock882 жыл бұрын
Damn creepy the end. I might as well throw my tv out of the window if all of a sudden, the patriotic mood drastically changed into creepy "missing person" picture with no sound and poor quality picture.

I called the number and it just rang and rang. That's creepy too. Usually phones numbers nowadays dont just ring and ring to no end
@RayBall87 Жыл бұрын
To me it still does act like that, except when the beep is faster it's a sign that the person that you're calling didn't answer.
