WMATA | 1974 Rohr

Rare Catch! This is the money train which consist of 2 Rohr cars that were never rehabbed! So they still have the original door chime,and roll signs as well. This train was doing a pick up at Rhode Is Ave, Red Line Station!

I'm surprised they have a 1000 Series train at the front. I thought those were required to be placed only in the middle of the train following the June 2009 crash.

I got to go on an money train once it wasn't rehabbed it was a unknown number train on the green line at southern ave station it was so old with the roll sign and old door chime

No, these Rohr cars were rehabbed since you hear the AC propulsion.

They may have the AC propulsion, but they still have the old rollsigns, the original door chime (with no voice), and no exterior speakers. If I recall correctly, the upgrade to AC propulsion was done separately from the rest of the rehab on the 1000 series.

Same thing but they have tinted windows and no seats on the inside

It's pretty much pure luck, but you're probably more likely to find it late in the evening, not long before Metro closes. Though, as seen in this video, it can show up during the day too.

Those are 1973 not 1974. And there's 3 of them: 8000, 8001, and 8002.

TheMetroMan It's these 1000-1105 (1973 Models) 1106-1175 (1974 Models) 1176-1199 (1975 Models) 1200-1299 (1976 Models) Since 8001-8004 were EX-1000s they are 1973 modlss
