@johnlee42492 жыл бұрын
I actually met Muhammad Ali when he came to one of our Army Hospitals to visit troops, I was already on the elevator when he got on, I could not believe my eyes when he stepped on with one of his assistants. I already knew he was having issues communicating as told to me by another troop who was one of his neighbors, so I smiled and said Hi Champ, how are you? I could not make out what he said, so before I got off I turned back and said to both Ali and his smiling assistant "have a great day" both he and his assistance smiled in turn and waved. That made my day for sure.

Imagine a man possessing so many strong qualities all at once - A man who was an iconic, historic and record-breaking sports figure, who had strong moral principles, was physically gorgeous and stunningly handsome, he was warmhearted towards the common man and the down-trotten, and was s humanitarian on a global scale…. He had the ability to be serious with a tremendous depth, using words with a lot of weight accordingly, and could maneuver difficult conversations well AND SIMOULTANIOUSLY was an expert in being humorous, joyous and light when interacting with all kinds of people. He was superbly intelligent verbally - witty on the spot! He was offered to teach poetry at Harvard even though he himself left high-school being considered illiterate. He was abundantly creative poetically, and brought verbal artistry to a field where-in it had never been imagined to be used. He ignited passion and new life to the sport of boxing and he invented new techniques and styles to boxing too…. Even with all of that, he was also a humble man despite being one of the wealthiest and most famous on planet. He was a spiritual leader and voice of faith. He always saw eye to eye with anyone he met, no matter their status. He was generous with his time and money. Despite being considered on of the toughest men in sport, he was a sensitive man - it’s obvious to see how deeply he cared for the well-being of anyone suffering. He pro-actively used his hard-earned success on giving back to those who needed it the most. He was a major power-player in installing confidence and self belief in people watching him, not least, the colored men at the time suffering under the harsh racism limiting them, and rejecting their right for equality of opportunity. Ali helped them rise above that dark cloud and fight back strongly, confidently. Ali bravely spoke up for his beliefs at a time and place were you could get killed for doing so… a risky decision, especially for a man in the spotlight. ALI’S CONFIDNECE, TRUST AND BELIEF IN HIMSELF !!!!! What a breath of fresh air ! ~~ … Just to hear someone so comfortable when speaking so proudly of himself… so unapolegetically? So encouragingly about himself? Who else could pull that off without coming across as annoying? When he does, we only look at him fondly, because he does it in such style… in such a charming manner! A skill / ability difficult to teach or study. So many ppl have low self-worth today, seeing no light whatsoever within themselves… if only we had 10 more of Ali in the world today. I’m sure anybody can agree, we all feel wonderfully uplifted when we observe how he carries himself with such pride, respect and warmth. ALI ❤ A man of action, a man of his word. A man fiercely bold and brave - a man full of love, sincerity ans warmth in his heart. What a fascinating man to observe. It’s brilliant we can look back at media like this which immortalizes him in a way that would not have been possible had he existed 200 years ago. Ali is the best man for admiration in my eyes. What a strong life he lead!

This roast was hysterical. Muhammad Ali at the same table with iconic stars from Hollywood's Golden Age such as Dean Martin, Orson Welles, Gene Kelly. Epic!

Obviously, there are people who get offended at every opportunity and somehow are always the victims. The golden times you refer to was only golden for a few people. I the real world, those who were the butt of 'harmless jokes' were often the ones who were really suffering from discrimination, persecution, racism, sexism, etc. Painting a picture of society based on what is portrayed on TV is moronic.

Ali came to Kennedy Square in Downtown Detroit to promote his movie. He was dressed in a shirt and tie. He challenged any one in the crowd to hit him. No one could. His speed was just amazing. He must have noticed me watching because as his limo was leaving, he waved to me.
