1:08 RIP Kaye Young (1956-2010) and Faye Young (1956-2015), both succumbing to cancer: Kaye to skin cancer, and Faye to brain cancer after surviving stage four colon cancer. They both starred at Peace College, North Carolina State University where they played for legendary coach Kay Yow (who also died of cancer), and with the New York Stars and New Jersey Gems of the Women's Professional Basketball League. They were with the Gems at the time this ad aired. Faye later coached at Manhattan College, served as a women's college basketball analyst for ESPN, wrote "Winning Basketball for Girls," and her last position was as the head girls' basketball coach at Ithaca (NY) High School as well as a volunteer assistant for the Cornell University women's basketball program. Kaye's widower, her college sweetheart Bill Cowher, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame ten years after she died by virtue of his career as one of three head coaches for the Pittsburgh Steelers since 1969, including a victory in Super Bowl XL in January 2006 following the 2005 season; NFL television crews would frequently cut to her and her family in the stands. They married the year this ad aired while he was a reserve linebacker and special teams ace for the then-AFC Central champion Cleveland Browns. Their three daughters all played NCAA Division I college basketball.
