The Jack Benny clip really isn't appropriate since (1) it's a clip from his CBS TV show and (2) when he talks about his radio show his radio show was on CBS then!

@dondonp12004 Of course, I was born two years and two days before the WNBC radio and the rest of the NBC Radio Network and Stations.

I think that's a BIT of an exagerration. I mean, I'm sorry but WNBC was a mess at the end there. Between Imus totally drunk all the time, there helicopters killing their own traffic reporters because of lack of maintainence, and a line-up that was a string of boring talk show hosts wasn't getting it done. WNBC started to slide when FM took over music. And that was WAY before 88'. WFAN still exists on that frequency now, so it couldn't have been a mistake.

3:16: "Fox NewsChannel 5." With all respect to Steve Powers, I thought he might have said "Fox Channel 5 News". Oh, well. WNYW's current news branding is "Fox 5 News". WNBC television, in a "worldwide headquarters" commercial from the mid-to-late 1990s was referred to as "NBC NewsChannel 4." That was at the time WNBC-TV was known by general branding of "NBC 4" and the news branding of "NewsChannel 4". Now WNBC-TV bradings reverted to "4 New York" and "News 4 New York".

I think that Howard Stern might have caused WNBC to go off the air for good, as far as radio is concerned!
