Oh yeah, right after Creature Features, the host "The Creep" (Lou Steele) would ask you where your children were at 10PM, and on came the news, so many great memories of that time!

Around 17:45, on the super "Tex's Weekend Weather" - that was a reference to none other than Tex Antoine, towards the end of his about a year-long run with WNEW after his career at WABC was brought to an end with rather inopportune comments well-known. (At Channel 5, his replacement would be one Linda Gialanella.)

@ RED PILL RULES.... I vaguely remember that it was a rape analogy he used to describe the weather forecast.... something about not fighting it but laying back and enjoying it.... Again, this is from a vague memory....

I seem to remember reading in one book that WNEW-TV's entire news budget in this period was roughly equivalent to what any one of the top news anchors on the network O&O's made. There was at least one famous name associated with 1970's TV news that never made it to or in New York. Ron Hunter.
