In 2000, there wasn't anything quite like Deltron 3030's high-concept world-building music. On its self-titled album, the Bay Area alternative hip-hop supergroup -- comprised of veteran MC Del the Funky Homosapien, Kid Koala and producer Dan "The Automator" Nakamura -- unleashed a dense dystopian future set in the year 3030, where Deltron Zero (Del's alter ego) battled against corporate overlords. Now, 13 years later, Deltron 3030 has finally regrouped and is revisiting that future -- this time, set in 3040 -- on the sequel, Event II.

This is a masterpiece of the apex of Hip Hop. DJs still spun records. Lyrics had to actually use vocabulary and convey a coherent idea. But those times are gone and will never come back. It might be a while before this type of deep art becomes (even secretly) popular again.

Not Dan the Automator but it’s Kid Koala, he’s not wearing his typical bear suit Kid koala came and performed at a San Diego bar which only had capacity of about 50 people The mirrors on the ceiling helped a lot for those of us not over 6 feet tall

I'm the kid that grew up thinking this was a Gorillaz song called "Deltron zero" when i heard it from the first time i fell in love with it. I memorized the lyrics and rap along with music. Then i discovered that Deltron was a completely different project... ...and i was surprised that there were more of that sick turntables and futuristic sounds and impossible lyrics. When i die i want to bury me with a copy of this album in vinyl. Just because it was a very important part of me when I was growing up.

Deltron 3030 played FunFunFun Fest. It was the only show that I needed to see. 3 stages, so I wondered around a bit. I went one band early. Watched them, can’t remember who, and then another band went on, and another. I asked someone if they cancelled. Nope. They changed bands around last minute and I missed them. I am still pissed about that shit to this day!!! Not the groups fault, but why the fuck is the fest changing bands around last minute?!? Fuck! Glad I can see them live on video at least. Dan, Del, and Koala are all my favorites. FUCK! I wish I could’ve seen them live.
