Another big tip for players struggling: Low morale is basically HARD mode. When fighting bosses that give you trouble, try running around the stage and activating all the flags you can find. These give you fortitude with is a type of permanent base increase to your morale for that stage (It resets when you start a new stage, but you keep all flags activated forever, even if you leave a stage). You can get your base morale to 20 in a stage. It wont go any lower from taking damage since the flags cement it in place. You can then farm it up to as high as 25 max. Thats optional. If you are more than 4 or 5 levels under the Boss's morale level, your likely to be getting one hit killed by certain attacks. I disregarded the morale system for most of the game, but have been forced a few times to increase it, or get 1 shotted. I did stubbornly beat a few bosses without farming morale, but it took several hours for some of them. Upgrade your armor and favorite weapons. Helps to have 2 types of weapons for different situations. The dual weapons all seem quite good. The martial art is a big consideration. I like martial arts that really shred the stun bar. Bosses mainly take damage from fatal blows which only come from building thier stun bar (deflects and certain attacks build that bar). Remember when activating flags, you do not have to fight the enemies most of the time. Just run around and activate the flags quickly before enemies catch up to you. You may want to clear out some enemies sometimes to make it easier. In some cases you will need to clear out the enemies if the flag has rot around it.

I'll admit after 45 years of gaming Wo Long broke me. I managed to limp to the Monkey Boss (2nd Boss I believe) and I just couldn't do it. Wooden Cudgel, Sword or Polearm nothing worked. I even tried Training and managed ONE successful deflect out of 10 against a dummy enemy. The timing is down to nanoseconds for a successful deflect - there is ZERO grace given from what I can see. I've played every SOULS game and Elden Ring no problem. Yep, they're different games to NIOH/NIOH 2/SEKIRO but fuck me the difficulty! Either that or I'm just getting old (56 yesterday!). Oh well - not a game for me but for the younger set with better reflexes I guess. Great video mate.

Happy Birthday for yesterday 🥳🎂 The timing is different in this game for deflects and I was tested yesterday during the Lu Bu boss fight because some moves I couldn’t deflect until I realised the deflects almost had to be too late. In most games it would be just before the attack but in Wo Long it’s either just as the attack hits you or actually a split second after, it’s a weird one for sure and I don’t think reflexes are anything to do with it. I think you would be able to nail the timing if you tried it when the attacks were hitting you instead of just before. Thank you mate 👍

It can definately take building some muscle memory and anticipation of the moves. Once you book mark the timings in your brain for each attack it should start to flow more. Given you beat the first boss, and hes one of the toughest, you would be able to get farther if you wanted to stick with the game. Helps to check out some boss strats too, as its not always obvious the best way to deal with an enemy. The game gives you alot of options but deflection is definately the main mechanic and key to taking down the bosses. Sometimes it takes a while to burn the timings into your brain.

Coming from Souls/Elden Ring as well and this game is destroying me. I never could get riposte timing in those games so I relied on the dodge mechanic. This game doesn't really have that. I guess I'll have to keep practicing and rely on the static block in the meantime.

Guys here’s a tip that works 95-100% of the time hold guard and constantly tap the parry button not to fast if so you’ll dodge. If should be slow steady taps
