EXTRA TIP: In the video I say don't use heavy (spirit) or martial art attacks. I say that because I feel using slower attacks makes it easier to get hit, as well as they use spirit which then edges you closer to getting staggered if you aren't nailing your deflects. So it's a safer approach to use light attacks to build up your spirit reserves to give you backup blocks if you miss some deflects than it is to use spirit/martial arts which are slower. However, if you can get the timing of a heavy spirit attack or a martial art without getting hit, and aren't missing your deflects, then doing a spirit attack or a fast martial art attack will shrink the bosses spirit meter faster, enabling you to get a fatal strike in faster and then ending the fight faster. If you want to try, I suggest using heavy spirit attacks on the boss when he's on the horse after he takes a swipe at you. Not too hard to do it there, and will get him off his horse faster.

Best boss guides for years! I’ll have to give your strat a try. Especially after losing 30+ times 😖🤣 I’ve been using ciao ciao armor set +5 & buffing Guding blade w ice (22 in earth for A agility & rest of points in water).

You really do have the best boss guides! Please keep making them. I used your guide to help get me through Sekiro too. I FINALLY beat him. Dang that took forever. Used ice weapon and some frozen spear traps, all 6 of my Dragon's cure pots and a I think 3-4 dragon cure powder (there's a youtube video on where to farm them so you can have 10 for the fight). I may sound like a complainer but after trying dozens of times to beat this boss, I honestly feel the deflect timing is really tight and MANY times when I could have sworn I had right, I still got hit. If this is the way future boss fights in the game are going to be, I'm not sure I want to finish the game. Anyway, appreciate the tips in your video.

Finally took him down using this strat. A very unforgiving fight, he punishes any mistakes you make but it makes a satisfying win.

ahah i beat him .. just raw deflect and hit and run and super agressive and i used that hold block and switch weapon attack and it worked pretty well

Unlike the previous fight before him against Zhang Rang who felt unfair with so much tornados & lighting everywhere due to clones this Lu Bu fight right after was so much more fair. It’s tough but it’s actually fun & fair demanding good party timing & positioning.

Would you say the Man of Benevolence Set is good for a general purpose set for most of the game? Or is it just great for this fight in particular?

Great general purpose set, especially for a water build. Water gives high stealth which helps you get fatal strikes and/or get to hit enemies before they even see you, and one of the perks of the set is an extra 14.9% damage when you are in perfect health. I find I'm in perfect health nearly all the time when I kill enemies, so it's great for that too. You can stack perfect health damage on your gear as special effects and get your extra damage when in perfect health over 20% really easily. Great set.

@@fuzzybearbarian this boss is driving me crazy I died so many times to him is there a trick to this fight I am able to somewhat deflect his criticals while he is on horseback but the one crit I'm having a hard time to dodge is the one on foot where he does his his flaming spear leap. What is the timing on this attack because I'm not able to deflect this completely. The other foot criticals he does I can time but not the flaming spear leap crit it gets me every time because it happens so fast to read the timing.

That halberd drag is pretty hard to deflect. I'd say it's the one attack that sometimes I get and other times I miss

So many people with skill issues and no patience to learn the fight calling the game shit. Game isnt a masterpiece but every boss can be defetead if you take you”re time to learn and actualy enjoy the fight. No offende, yea is not sekiro level, but patience is all you need. Gluck all! Bro, hats off to you, you always figure-out unique ways to kill. Sadly after trying this method too for multiple times, I simply deleted this game. The chill damage is abysmal and I dont get the time to recharge it multiple times. "20 20 4 8 7 - level 59" -> "10 17 4 8 20" I have changed it for water build. I have used the double sword. +2 scaling to B in water. Couldnt find the armour, but I could find the pants. I lost my interest in this game. I mechanics are clunky, why is dodge and deflect on the same button. The glint that you speak for the counter, I couldnt spot it the entire game. I learned the hard way to parry. I parried all the bullshit. Since the dodge is on the same button, he always gets me in the flurry. This is just bad mechanics.

Try this. Reinstall the game for a start. 😉 Okay, put 40 points into Earth, then 12 points into fire, then every other point into Earth from that point forward. Equip the Benevolence of Man set, the big hammer that drops from the first boss (Great Club of Polaris)... or whatever the best hammer is that you have that scales on Earth. Equip the shield Earth spell (Illusionary Shell). Put Fatal Strike damage on every single piece of gear you have, including all accessories (farm a panda for 10 minutes or so and you'll get it...just drop the panda 11 jewel fragments, see what you got, if it's not good, return to title and reload then do it again). Upgrade your gear, especially your hammer, as far as you can. If you can get Damage Amplification on enemy upon wizardry spell, equip that to a piece of gear. You can farm the Tale of Guigizi map until a piece of gear with it drops if you can be bothered. Either way, equip the Amplify Damage fire spell. Put Frost Lance on your spell list too - no investment needed. Now just block, deflect, and activate Illusionary Spell every chance you get. When you get hit, the illusionary spell will tank it all. Watch enemy spirit and when it's about to break, throw Frost Lance at them. Damage Amplification on Wizardry spell will activate. As soon as their spirit breaks, pop your fire Amplify Damage spell. The two Damage Amplifications then stack. Now just press triangle for the Fatal Strike. Normal enemies instant death. Bosses probably instant death, but maybe 80% of their health just gone. Rinse and repeat. It sounds like a lot to think about, but it isn't. Once you've got the gear all set up, it's as simple as activating Illusionary Shell, tanking hits and fighting back wherever, then just before a fatal strike throwing Frost Lance and activating Amplify Damage. This is the easy way to play, you can beat any boss easily usually first time trying, and you can set this build up very easily mid game. I'm sure this will help.

The illusion art spell I am unable to activate it!! Even with level 20 in water.

@@bhargavapothakamuri4218 It's an Earth spell, and you'll need 40 points to use it. If you don't have it, you can go farm the monkey in part 2 for qi. If you don't want to do any of that (and you probably won't), another way you can try is to use the Rock Toughness spell in the Earth tree to lower the damage you take, and then fight him while he's on his horse but not to ever knock him off it. Since he's harder off his horse than on, the idea is you use Rock Toughness to reduce damage, then aim to never break his spirit while he's on horseback. Just slowly hack away at him with light attacks, but stop hacking and just block here and there to let his spirit recover so he never jumps off the horse lol. I haven't tried this myself but theoretically it should work pretty easily, just slowly. Fight might take a while though.
