Eric sounding like he was a Delta Bluesman of the past when he was in his early 20’s. It is so rare for a perfect song to be made, but it was made here.

TRUE, but this is a mime to their recording, obviously. No cables attached to those Guitars or Mics. this is 1964. No matter, it's great to see and hear this.

American Black Blues that crossed the Atlantic and came back as the British Invasion of the 1960s. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Kinks, The Dave Clark Five and many others did the same. Can you hear the gospel in the organ sound?

It's really gratifying to watch a person listing to a song that I love to have such a positive experience. I'm 75 years old and did not listen to much music when I was young. But this song ALWAYS hit me hard whenever I happened to hear it. Thanks for making me happy.

As great as this song is, even better they recorded it in ONE take. They didn't have the time or money for a bunch of studio time, so they arrived at the studio and punched this one out in one take. AMAZING.

It sort of sounded like this reactor complimented every member of the Animals EXCEPT Eric Burdon. Has that ever happened in the entire history of any person on Earth hearing this song for the first (or thousandth) time?

Glad you reacted to this! The first time this song was ever recorded (if I recall correctly) was Lead Belly (Huddie Ledbetter) in the late 40s, but before that it was a classic American Folk song. A lot of what Lead Belly did involved reimagining and recording folk and blues songs and cementing them into physically recorded history, and he had a huge impact on a vast majority of rock and blues musicians (and still does, to some degree). Another example of a great Lead Belly cover is during Nirvana’s “Unplugged” concert when they played “Where Did You Sleep Last Night”-which happens to be a personal favorite of mine-but really it’s hard to go wrong with any song of his haha Sorry for the rambling! Just wanted to share my appreciation that songs like these are still maintaining relevance through younger and younger people (don’t get me wrong, I’m only a millennial, but grew up on the classics). Love the reactions and keep it up(: God bless from Texas!

Lead Belly wasn't first but did record it way before The Animals. Glad you mentioned him though, he also did Black Betty way before Ram Jam (which Cam did like a week ago) and inspired Cobain's rendition of In the Pines from MTV Unplugged (he reacted to a Nirvana song today). So you don't have to look far at all to see his legacy has left a permanent mark on music, as you said.

House of the rising sun was a place where people could sleep, and get work , it cost $5 a night for a bunk , they wouldn't allow alcohol on the property, the temporary labor company would call their all hours of the night looking for workers. In tampa they had a house similar but the rent was $3.50 per night, it was called the porter hostel, both the places were nothing more than slave labor houses, you got paid $3.35 per hour (thank you Regan) by the temp service. The temp service was paid approximately $20 per hour for your labor. 😢

Eric Burden was sent to live with his gran @ get the fire going. He was late one morning & she never spoke to him again. The animals are amazing, To those of you who watch us and try and say he's limp sinking, he's not. They were only allowed. I think it was. Oh, there was one time they had to come in. And they had time just to get to the recording studio. Get back and get back where they were, and that was it. So when these guys did it, it was one take. Because the film and then you gotta realize. Also if the film's been cut wrong, then it's not gonna match up either so because they have to add the volume to the film and they do that wrong and that's up, but this guy had a horrific horrific childhood. So any of you who cast a first Stone because the animals they were, and they didn't excellent job, they chose the words out of the book, this is an old folk song. So they only chose so much of the folk song they're wicked. They're awesome. Thank you for playing them. Watch willie nelson and dolly parton of wrote and andy gibb are the top three songwriters there ever was

It's a reallllll old tune. 1500s. That HOUSE could be a whore house, or a penitentiary. No one knows for sure. THIS version might even refer to Angola, i.e Lousianna State Pen, near New Orleans.

Years later I live in a house that's paid for but have $150.000 mortgage. But life goes on. ✌️
