Self care to me looks like quiet time by myself . Eating good food and just taking a long long shower before bed and a nice tea in bed . And then rest 😊😊. . Ooh . Works every time

Licensed beauty professional here. Whether it's hair, skin, or nails, the majority of the population jumps on trends and wonder why they're stagnant or regressing. The skin and scalp will get stressed & freakout if constantly bombarded with change. Ideally you want to do any regiment for at least 3-4 months in order to correctly assess if it's working or not. Skin cell turnover rate ranges from 28-75 days depending on age and overall health. Genetics and internal health directly impact the hair growth cycle. It takes 30-45 days for a new product to address any damage that has been done at the subdermal level. Once addressed it can take another 30-45 days to correct. Normally that last 30-45 days is when you will see significant change. All this to say, have patience with yourself and the new routine. Let's talk about hydration and nutrition. Some of the issues we're dealing with can be solved by increasing hydration and improving nutrition. Start with what's sustainable and move forward. Add in foods that you know you will eat and different hydration techniques that you look forward to. Let's get to the root issue rather than symptom management. Sometimes that means a doctor's visit for an exam and blood work. Or a therapy session.... While there's a place for all these products, overuse is just as bad if not worse than using nothing. Most if not all of these items have a point where they can't do anymore externally until the internal is addressed. Edit: smoking (anything but especially cigarettes), alcohol abuse, and only drinking carbonated drinks will dehydrate everything and breakdown collagen and elastin in the body. These activities affect oxygenation, circulation, and can age you drastically.

Yep and those carbonated drinks of any kind also takes the calcium out of your bones and teeth making them brittle. I have to remind myself of this because I'm addicted to those Izze sparkling juice drinks 😔

I like Factor meals too. Self care for me is walking for an hour on my walking pad. I do that twice a day. Reading in bed is self care. Browsing my favorite stores to look at home decor, smell fragrances, and look at books is also self care to me. I can’t wait to read your book. 📖

Im just getting back on my self care and health journey after various things in life knocked me down temporarily. It's been a struggle but I'm slowly getting my eating back on track and getting in more exercise. My self care now is a good sweaty workout followed by a nice hot shower with my favorite essential oils to wind down ☺️

Exactly. The videos I see are self maintenance. Not self care. My self care a month ago was doing nothing all day but watching tv and taking a hot bath. It was a lil nerve wrecking as a mom to relax but at the same time, I enjoyed doing nothing.

I use facial products from the dollar tree. They do fine for me. I've noticed a change. Dark marks and clearer skin. I definitely need to stop buying things just because I think they're cute or thinking I'm going to use them. ❤

Self-Care for me is spending time with God 1st thing as I awaken, so He can direct my steps ALL thru the day, then making sure after 7pm I wind down to my nightly routine, no emails, no calls. To Journal, read, relax until I meet my Lord & Saviour Christ Jesus in prayer & say THANK YOU 4 ALL You allowed to take place as I prepare for my beauty rest!
