Wow... I was looking for a long time for a performance of this piece, where tenor singing the role of Orpheus would also perform on the violin as well!!!

It's amazing they kept their wits about them to sing with all the other stuff going on!

Could you post the performance again with French or English subtitles, please ?

I prefer this to Tales of Hoffmann. I have the version with Dessay and Nauri doing a fantastic Fly Song.

Fort belle prestation, à l'exception de l'opinion publique qui est vraiment au dessous de tout avec sa brosse à chiottes et sa voix qui ne sait pas chanter.

Terrible staging. Why must everything be updated instead of performing them in the time frame they take place in.👎👎
@0atommie1 Жыл бұрын
The stage design is intelligent and has couleur locale with references to the famous café A La Mort Subite in Brussels. I love the locomotive crashing downward. We are really in the underworld where there is fun and comedy
@dion194911 ай бұрын
And when would that have been?
@richardduployen64296 ай бұрын
I agree and often they don't update properly. Sometimes they have anachronisms which is not the same as Prince Orestes wearing a monocle in the original "la Belle Helene". I just saw a Noel Coward play they claimed was set in 1991 when they mentioned Liz Truss who was probably a child then. She's old hat nowadays. Some people won't have heard of her! They kept original references like the Queen's Hall a concert hall which was bombed in the Second World War! The E. N. O. "the Yeomen of the Guard" was set in 1953 and they kept the mock Tudor expressions like "I'll swallow my kirtle" (skirt)! Classics don't need to be changed because they are always relevant.
