I was in New York and walked into a sneakers store hunting for rare Jordans. When I told the sales person that am originally from Kenya, he asked me if I knew Enda. To be honest I told him I don’t know that brand. To my surprise, he told me that’s a sneaker label from Kenya. That’s when I heard Enda for the first time. Unfortunately they were not selling the shoes in their store. But I was so proud to hear a Nike store salesman talk of Kenyan brand.

As a marathon runner, I have a different outlook on what she said. Instead of focusing on the elite athletes like the big shoe companies do, rather market to us recreational runners. There are many of us casual runners who would love to support a brand like this. The materials are apparently hard to source within the continent which is the problem. Maybe this is something to be focused on which of course will cost quite a bit.
