Peter Brough was once interviewed by Derek Nimmo who kept admitting "Terribly sorry,I can still see your lips move" Brough admitted to Ray Allen that in a theatre or on radio that was never a problem,but on tv up close,,,.

In another interview someone asked Beryl if she saw Peter Brough's lips move on the radio show, she said 'Only when Archie speaks !', apparently cos it was on radio Peter never bothered to keep his mouth closed...

I remember as a kid seeing him in the Empire Edinburgh( now The festival theatre). I could see his lips moving and that was from the upper circle!

Having known Beryl as a show business personality perhaps producers should consider paying their families royalties after they pas away. by way of a few pence fee for viewing their videos. then perhaps show business stars will make sure they represent family viewing...

I think the only way they get residuals is if their programmes come out on DVD & then it's a very small amount..

jrgboy replied to gavin reid re Brough's moving lips, but he got it wrong. Brough was in a theatre with Archie and on finishing he asked Beryl if she had seen his lips move, to which she replied, " Yes, but only when the dummy was talking ". Folk always laughed at the absurdity of a vent act on radio, but they mustn't have known about America's Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy back in the '30s. Candice, Edgar's daughter eclipsed him in the fame dept.
