I know, right? And it's not even a difficult fast, really (no disrespect to the sacrifice, but...). During Ramadan, people still eat at the end of the day or early in the morning, so, depending on the season, it's a 12-18hr fast? Lots of people are regularly doing fasts for health reasons, like the 5:2, or 24hr fasts, or, e.g., if you try to literally fast for a whole day, you can end up doing 40 hrs (last evening meal at 6pm - no food all next day - breakfast next day at 10am, for example). Fasting for 12-18hrs is not difficult. I fast sometimes and it doesn't bother me to see people eating around me when I'm out. 😅 Sure, the first couple of times I tried it, it was hard and a bit of a hunger or 'need something to do to break up the day' kind of thing. But, it's not difficult after the first few times. So, for people who have done it every year for several days their whole lives, they surely must get used to it and food around them not bother them? I don't know. Maybe the decadent feasting at the end of the day doesn't help the metabolism and makes it difficult and you get cravey in the periods between feasting? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm retired now and 62. When i lived and worked in London back in the day i drank in a very busy pub now here's the thing. The pub is for socialising and its part of our great heritage...many people including many muslims used to come in and socialise but drink soft drinks. That is true. When certain churches have communion they have non alcoholic wine or fruit juice. No one complains about it. I know of Methodists who sometimes have a glass of wine with a meal, it is no big deal. If you don't drink that is up to you. If you do drink that is up to you. Just don't force your ways onto other people.

As someone who doesn’t drink by choice, I was never made to feel left out of ‘beer calls’ and meet and greet events whilst in the military. People just accepted that I didn’t drink. It also made me popular as a free taxi back from the event.

I'm a Christian, I don't drink. But I still attend venues where people drink. If companies were to give in and ban alcohol at these work venues for this reason. I'd stop going myself. I won't associate with intolerance.
