The 'personal hangup' Gary mentions that so many actors have, is probably an inferiority complex. I think a LOT of actors are quite aware of how little talent they have; by which I mean, how easily they could be replaced for any or no reason, at any time. This makes them highly paranoid, and that breeds behaviors that try to curry favor with decision-makers, and sabotage their competitors...in other words, corruption. There's a reason the Casting Couch has ALWAYS featured prominently in showbiz; every casting director, money man producer, or studio investor, has an unending line of actresses, film directors, and studios, outside their door. All of the absolutely desperate for another bite at the apple, all of them with little to nothing to offer over their competition with few exceptions* except for...corruption, which the others might not be ruthless enough to commit. So you get virtue-signaling, woke-scolding, drug-deals, kickbacks, blackmail, honeypots, murders, and coverups driving the many (essentially) arbitrary decisions that keep the wheel of Hollywood churning out content. There's a reason the entertainment/play-acting profession has been synonymous with prostitution in every culture that's developed one, in every time period, in every corner of the world. Probably the same reason it invariably becomes highly-detached from the broader culture, becoming an increasingly depraved hidden kingdom (that inevitably becomes such an embarrassment it is destroyed by puritans) *The number of actors, directors, and studios that are actively sought out for a specific talent can each be counted on less than two hands

@ngamashaka489416 күн бұрын
No, I don't agree, and you are wrong. I do hate the government, especially the crazy mayor of Montreal, but I respect French-speaking people as they are survivors who have managed to build a national identity without having a country, while Canadians do have a country but no identity and are more than ready to sell their soul to multiculturalism just because it looks kind. As an example, they were not afraid to pass laws against the hijab and got flamed in the English-speaking media for months because of it. The Quebec hate comes a lot from leftist media as they don't like those who oppose their agenda and also love the hate between the two cultures. Given a chance, Alberta and Quebec would be working together to shrink federal power, but instead, we have this self-destroying hate in the country. If anything, Canadians should be more like French Canadians and be proud of themselves. If they did, they would look a little more like the MAGA crowd, and we would have a better relationship together. This is not a zero-sum game, only in the heads of the leftist crowd. I don't know what will happen to Canada in the next 10 years, but I am sure that Quebec, even if only as a U.S. territory, will continue to exist. So, people hate Quebec because of this.

We could end the celebrity culture overnight. I hate to say this, but queuing up at conventions for autographs & photos (paid and/or unpaid) just perpetuates the illusion they're better than us mere mortals. We rarely question something that was the creation of studio publicity departments about a century ago. Conventions needn't be treated like a religious pilgrimage. I find it very strange that actors playing medics get treated with more awe & respect than actual medics. Acting is just a job like any other. Imagine a convention where nobody took selfies & asked for autographs. Where guests & attendees just mingled about & discussed their favourite stuff. Appreciate their experitise but drop the hero worship & basking in reflected "glory", for want of a better word. Cupping my ear for the sound of a crashing lead balloon, because I know this is quite a threatening proposition for many of you.

You wanna put Star Trek: Section 31 in perspective? Michele Yeoh, ALONE, gets $12 Million ... The ENTIRE production of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn cost $11 Million. The Good, The Bad, and The Greedy. This mentality that the actors are just along for the ride and should get what they can is a HUGE part of the problem. Michelle Yeoh is NOT a huge get for the Star Trek franchise. Of course we all know the OTHER considerations that put her at the forefront of casting.

Brandon Sanderson really dropped the ball. The last Stormlight Archive book is a disaster. The LGBTQ+ thing aside, he needs to hire a better editor. As I don't plan to financially support a woketard, I personally didn't buy/read the whole thing, only randomly browsed a few random chapters, but based on that and reviews from other people, it is pretty apparent, that the quality of his previous books largely depended on his longtime editor Moshe, who, unfortunately for us, recently retired. 1/2 to 2/3 of the book should have been dropped or substantially reworked in the editing phase.
@Karl105-b3e16 күн бұрын
Sanderson has cool concepts and world building, but his execution of those things is awful because he’s just not a good writer. He’s also a coward with no backbone because he hired people that were woke and when they pressured him he folded.
