Honestly, Furiosa was fantastic. And it had THE WORST marketing since Blade Runner 2049. Which is nice to be so pleasantly surprised by the film. But what the hell were they thinking by those trailers?! First, they should have called it something like "Wasteland Wars: Furiousa". And the trailer should have shown the "choose one warboy/YOU are awaited!!/WITNESS ME!!!" scene. Such a qasted opportunity for proper hype. But those Hollywood marketing drones only know how to read algorithms. Same problem with 2049. Made it look like a soulless cashgrab. It's so sad that George Miller wont get his next Mad Max made now
@johneicher20546 ай бұрын
people who think Furiousa bombed because it's about a woman forget that Fury Road also bombed. There was anger because the movie was more about Charlize Theron and Fury Road, but apparently, Furiosa is more about Chris Hemsworth than Anya Taylor Joy, so what's the run. It's manufactured anger coming from people who are unhappy, and I know this because I used to get the same way about this shit too, and it all stemmed from not being able to talk to women. Don't hate post on Furiosa, She Hulk, and Rachel Ziegler for saying stupid things in an interview about a movie you weren't going to watch anyway, and just start taking care of yourself. Find a passion, get a haircut, and rid yourself of the false perception that woman only like assholes. You just know a woman who is dating an asshole, and trust, she would be a lot happier if the person she loved was nicer. This is the way. You might not even end up in a relationship, but I promise you, you will definitely be happier.

the opening weekend worship is so strange because if you look at like, Avatar 1 and 2 (1st and 3rd highest grossing movies of all time) compared to Star Wars or any of the Avengers their opening weekends are pretty good but not spectacular but then if you go by highest box office of all time by weekend both movies start at like 40-50th place for opening weekend, go to like 30th place for second weekend, and then rockets up to 3rd and first place for 3rd weekend and then stay in the top 10 for another 10 weekends and no other movie are like that. I can't really accept that opening weekends are the only ways to make money for a movie when two of the top 3 highest grossing movies ever did not get there with a single weekend

Funny to hear the talk about Millarworld because I'm in the midst of blitzing through all of the Millarworld comics (I've been saving The Secret Service/Kingsmen, Kick-Ass/Hit-Girl, and The Big Game for last), partly inspired by my randomly going "what is Jupiter's Legacy actually supposed to have been?" and I think later hearing about The Big Game being this big crossover, so I wanted to know all the source material. Huck is one of my favourites, Super Crooks was fun (that anime adaptation on Netflix is a lot more faithful than I expected, possibly the most of any Millar adaptation I've seen), and I liked The Magic Order at times. Some of his stuff (like Wanted) is very "edgy cringe" (wow, do I prefer the movie) and it feels like he's really bad at writing anti-heroes or villains (Nemesis particularly grates, especially in the first run), but surprisingly excels in writing really good people (like Huck). His pacing is definitely my biggest problem: I feel like Jupiter's Legacy blitzed through events so much that I didn't really care much about what was happening most of the time, particularly as character often takes a backseat to plot in a lot of his stories (though not all). Sometimes it leads to character inconsistency (Chrononauts has suffered from that, for example), or sometimes it just feels like some things resolve and change too easily (Prodigy has that issue, but also that weird pulp cliffhanger thing where it feels like you cut off the end of an episode and put it at the start of the next, to entice people to watch on). All that said, I do appreciate and like a decent amount of his stuff...though maybe they are best used as the basis for something else, like a movie or TV series. Not sure if this has worked out for Netflix, but it is weird to see their logo show up in comic credits. Wow, James really gets heated. Glad Fred Schneider from the B-52's was able to join the podcast, at least.

26:05 - A report from Sept. 2024 says that the Office of the Special Investigator could soon bring criminal charges against Ben Roberts-Smith, including further alleged war crimes and other criminal matters. Roberts-Smith was named 2013 Australian Father of the Year by The Shepherd Centre, a not-for-profit charitable organisation. On retirement from the army in 2015, he moved to Queensland with his wife and daughters. In December 2020, their divorce was finalised. In 2017-2018, Roberts-Smith allegedly had a six-month affair with an unnamed woman given the pseudonym "Person 17" in the defamation trial that he initiated. When Person 17 became pregnant, Roberts-Smith allegedly hired a private investigator to monitor Person 17 and confirm her attendance at an abortion clinic. Person 17 accused Roberts-Smith of punching her in the face after a dinner at Parliament House in 2018. Roberts-Smith denies ever striking her. Person 17 also accused Roberts-Smith of coaching her on how to explain a black eye resulting from the alleged assault.

Masso is 100% correct. A lot of ppl do imagine themselves as the protagonist. I never thought about it that way. I was a huge gamer back in the day. I’d get up 4 hrs before I had to go to work just to get some time in. Whenever I had the chance to create my own character I’d create a woman. My friends and even my girlfriend couldn’t fathom it. Some even wondered if I were gay? I couldn’t understand their way of thinking? They would ask why play a female character? Well, because I’m not gay and I’m forced to stare at an ass for 12 hrs I’d prefer it to be hairless.. Heavenly sword was a great game in my opinion. Not without its flaws but a fantastic story and Andy serkis is played the villain through mocap. I think I understand why if failed now. Both main characters were female. Ppl are fucking weird.

Ive seen the theory that Giancarlo Esposito is gonna be Stryker which I could see making sense for this movie. I imagine this movie probably revolves around Super Soldier stuff a bit since Sam lacks it and Ross is obsessed with that shit, climaxing in him becoming Red Hulk. So maybe Stryker shows up in the post credit scene and takes Ross's assets for Weapon X. I think theyre really trying to lean into the X-Men now so it'd make sense to start here. I could see Stryker being an underwhelming role for him though.
