Briahna, Rapinoe's woke ideology did cause her to miss. She tried a risky shot in what is called "the triangle" of the goal. If the game was not on the line, your team is 3 points ahead and the clock is running out, sure try to show off in your last career game. That is not the situation the USNWT was in. She needed to close escrow in the breach and execute a hard shot with calculated risk at her skill-level. That did not happen, she believed she could pull this off like a men's soccer super star. She proved to the world that equal pay does not mean equal performance once and for all. She left behind an ironic legacy of folly. As a female I am all for equal pay for equal work , but the difference with football is that the men's game brings in so much more money, I am from the uk and have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years, our stadium is 60 thousand capacity and is full every home game, the women's game in Scotland has an average attendance of less than 2 thousand per week, while the mens is above 100 thousanand and that is with lower admission price to female games to try and encourage people to go along, the men's teams also play a lot more games, again generating more income, and male merchandise also dwarfs female merchandise, TV and streaming figures are also a major factor as the ratings for men's football is extremely high while womens ratings are extremely low, so it stands to reason that if men are generating all the interest and that is what is generating the money, then I do not understand why female players would expect to get paid the same or almost the same, and this is not just the case in the UK, it is the same throughout Europe and I would bet it applies in most countries where football is the main sport, Maybe America is different from most other countries and the women's game is actually generating the same level of finances, but i doubt it, also sport is very different in America, you guys think nothing of moving a team from one state to another, that would be sacrilege to most football fans, football teams are part of the community with a very traditional history that goes back to the middle to late 1800s, sorry for the long post but it really annoys me that the minute Americans start taking notice and enjoying football then the equality brigade come out in force, even though they are completely wrong on this, it is as though they are only happy when they are causing problems for others.

It is amazing how the rapport and rapartee between the hosts Robby Soave and Briahna Joy Gray has developed and evolved since they took over the Rising desk. I will admit that I was completely wrong with respect to my scepticism for Mr. Soave in this role. It was easy to see this moment for Rapinoe coming. Building and tearing down athletes and "stars" is a sport in and of itself. That said, it's trigger-happy to go after her solely for the loss. The team should've closed in regular time and other penalties were missed after Rapinoe. The truth is that the world has closed the gap in women's soccer. That fact is a testament to what the USWNT has done in the past much like what the Dream Team did for global basketball. I don't have an inch of sympathy in my heart for Rapinoe the advocate because she's a puppet spouting gibberish garbage narrative, but my entire heart does empathize with her despite her laughing the miss off and not having much good to say post match other than football can be beautiful and tragic. Win as a team. Lose as a team.

It is not like basketball which is a US originated sport. The US Womens team did not popularize soccer for girls in the rest of the world where soccer was already the number one sport, and has been for decades. The US womens loss here is not because the rest of the world "closed the gap", it is because this team was not as talented as other teams the US has fielded in the past. Or perhaps they were just less focused, who can say for sure, but either way they were exposed as lacking this year.

Bri is very uninformed about the USWNT, Rapinoe was never a leader on the team, she was a great player when she was young, fast and playing on the wing. She got older and slower and they tried moving her to the middle, she never developed the ability to make tactical decisions and lacked the technical ball control and passing skill for that position. She didn't belong on this squad, younger players where not developed because she was there along with a few other aging players. She is not "the greatest women's soccer player ever" as Bri just stated. Rapinoe started becoming controversial to stay relevant, the Kapernick strategy. Nike, Fox Soccer and ESPN bought into to this for advertising. Mia Ham, Abby Wombach, Carli Loyd, Brani Chastain those were all players that out performed Rapinoe, I doubt Bri even knows their names.

The women's soccer team in the US actually has always been paid much more than the mens team. The men's team would have been paid more if they won the world cup one year, but they only got that contract because they negotiated a risky contract with less guaranteed money, and everyone knew they had basically no chance of winning the world cup. That was used to falsely argue there wasn't gender pay parity.

Honestly one of the worst segments… two people who know nothing about sports, commenting on sports. Not even sure where to start. From the fact that teams/players are often criticised for distracting with non-sport related antics (just ask Paul pogba, Raheem Sterling, Neymar etc..) or the fact that Brie has no idea what’s she’s talking about when it comes to “equal pay” in women’s soccer. Or the fact that Brie pretends to not know what Woke means when her lens on analysing any situation is quite literally woke (Not fact or logic based with a tinge of racial, gender or some other inequity in case you are reading Brie). Bri if an athlete divides their focus their craft suffers. Rapinhoe became more and more involved in her celebrity and social justice and it became more about using her platform than winning and representing her country that she hates. If you watch her interviews it's usually centered around herself and her "I deserve this" attitude. she's not really an "it's not about me, it's about the team" kind of person. perhaps she was at one time, but that's no longer the case. Success has defeated her.
