In today's video, we have Charlie Kirk debating a leftist woke student on why college is a scam. The woke student cannot even make an argument... Especially after Charlie Kirk shuts down all his points. The student starts cursing and storms off.

I am an English teacher, who learned it as a second language. It is extremely annoying for me listening to someone who uses this filler word every two seconds. I find it especially egregious because these kids are attending colleges and universities. In my class it is unacceptable to use this word as filler. You must think about your argument and do your best to try to articulate it with the knowledge you already have in the most concise way possible. I cannot tolerate this kind of lazy speech. It tells me that they are unintelligent even though these kids believe that they are not. Attending college alone will not make you intelligent. Regurgitating information your teachers told you is not intelligence nor it is critical thinking. I try to challenge my students to think for themselves and don't take my or other teachers' words at face value just because we are the authority in the class. Especially when we are discussing controversial topics. At least in my country our education system still has some standards, though it is unfortunately under attack by these kinds of pseudo-intellectuals.

But... He did. He made so many wonderfully valid points that Charlie tried to interrupt and obfuscate his way out of answering. For example, the biggest main point: college is a scam. He proved that CK uses those metrics/credentials to hire some of his own people, thus disproving his main point. Then CK tried to make all kinds of qualifiers and distraction tactics. It's clear in this discussion that Charlie was outmatched intellectually by someone who actually views the issue from a nuanced and reasonable perspective while also allowing for reasonable disagreements to be made.

I dropped out of college in 1980 and went straight to trade apprenticeship. Today, my salary averages $135k a year, and I have no debt. Not only do I love my job, but I love watching my bank grow and grow and grow. My wife also has no debt. On the flip side, I did graduate college with a Bachelors in Science, BSN. I worked in my field, nursing, until I took early retirement in my early 40s. 😉 I have zero student loans, zero debt minus, what tiny bit we still owe on our home. No credit cards, car loans, etc...and we live very comfortably. My husband also has a 2 year degree, fully paid off long ago too, which he has been using for 35 years, and is moving toward retirement now. Our daughter has a 4 year biochemistry degree and loves her career as a scientist making good money, and our son did not pursue college yet makes more $ than her as a land surveyor. Is college necessary? Yes, for certain professions, it definitely is. Can you be successful with a degree? Absolutely! But, you can be just as successful without a degree. I will never say college is a scam or unnecessary because 3 out of 4 in my family proves otherwise, but the 1 outlier proves that success can be achieved without it. I am equally proud of them both.
@roadrunnergtx68
@roadrunnergtx68 2 күн бұрын
@vickiecraft2151 I sincerely and respectfully congratulate you and your family. Not everyone has the discipline to plan and coordinate their future. When I went to college, I found no reason why I had to pay for credits like social studies/evolution to pursue my career. It had nothing to do with what I wanted to be. I dropped out immediately and went to work in a trade apprenticeship school. As I mentioned before, my salary is $135k, which is for a minimum of 50 hours a week. Many times, we work as much as 96 hours a week. I also get a company truck, gas card, and a weekly per diem. We also get travel expenses when we travel from state to state. The average interest rate for a college loan today is 8% to 15%, and you start paying immediately even if you don't have a job. It should be 1%. Government wants to forgive college debt, but only for those who don't want to pay for it. For those like you and your family who paid off their debt or are working and paying their debt, don't get a break. I heard Elizabeth Warren say that on national TV. It will be the taxpayers paying that debt. COLLEGE IS A SCAM. Btw, I work in energy and possess a CGC license in the state of Florida. Kind regards.

Charlie isn't correct. Using Charlie's own analogy- ordering food at Chili's. If you order food at Chili's without bothering to look at what it is or whether it is something you even like, and then refusing to make use of it (ie: eat/drink it), then throwing it away is your own fault. Not Chili's. So long as Chili's provided what you access to what you requested, the customer should take some personal responsibility for what happened afterward. This is more equivalent to the issue in college. People paying for classes they don't even bother to attend; even if they do attend them, the degree they've majored in (also their choice) isn't something they want to do for a living or maybe isn't very marketable. Whose fault is that again?

There were many kids who left school and got good apprenticeships to one of any number of important trades (certainly in the UK). But since Tony Blair decided that every child should go on to higher education (a good way to keep unemployment figures down) most school leavers are attending universities, and many are simply wasting their time getting useless degrees and ending up saddled with a load of student debt and no job at the end of it.

So you acting like there is some question as to when he started or graduated is not even remotely relevant. He graduated when he was 22 and evidently started at 18 or 19. Read his post again. Obviously you can do math. Graduated in 1996. 2024 - 1996 = 28 years ago 50 - 28 = 22 years old The age that he graduated at was 22. Got it! I have first hand experienced talking or even debating with some of these kinds of students. Firstly, they believe they can be disrespectful to others older than themselves, because of their "perceived" education from the universities and thinking this education alone can be used as some sort of "surrogate wisdom". No. Its just a fool speaking in 60 thousand dollar words to say BS---. They tend to lack good character and manners overall during a debate, attempting to show off their so-called talents. Note they also get really easily offended when does something far better than them without a degree! This is showing them all them money and college jargon was not really necessary - just get the job done. Its really interesting to note some of these kinds of people would sport "I have a PhD" but get easily defeated in an argument with somewhat with common sense and GED.

You are not forced to go to college , it’s a choice. They never guaranteed that students that graduate would get a job . If you take a course to become a real estate agent , they don’t have to guarantee that you will sell houses. A person chooses to go to college and incur all the debt that comes along with it. Yes there are jobs that require a college degree, and that is their right. College loan forgiveness is an insane idea. That would be like someone having a credit card , buy whatever they want , then expecting the government to pay their debt. What has happened to basic logic. Will we ever become a society that tries to get along and help each other ??

After the first few months of my degree it completely sapped any passion I had for the subject, no room for questioning. It's remember this, as well as you possibly can and you will succeed. Since I dropped out, I now work for a large chemical company as a senior chemical process operator, earning triple the amount I would as a pharmacist! Annoyingly I'm still paying my student debt out my earnings each month. Moral of the story, do not go to university! What Charlie Kirk is trying to say that this kid cannot wrap his head around is that the MAJORITY of college degrees are useless when looking for a job in the market. College is good for HIGHLY SPECIALIZED degrees such as being a doctor, lawyer, scientist. But generations of kids have been duped into thinking that if you have ANY college degree, your chances of getting a higher paying job increases. If you spend 4 years and $400,000 getting a degree in Indian underwater basket weaving with the hopes of starting your first job at making $80k, $90k, $100k, simply because you have “a degree”, you’re in for a shock. Do you know what a degree does for a company? Absolutely nothing OTHER than the fact that it shows you’re a reliable person to hire because you showed up to all your classes on time. So essentially you went into $400,000 debt just to prove that you won’t call in sick.

For sure, it is likely a scam if you think just having a paper saying "I attended and graduated from hogher learning." That isn't going to do anything for you. Coming from someone who graduated with a masters and paid off his loans, I didn't find it to be a scam. My degree helped me land a job, become more equipped to handle my position and progress me quickly through my field. What you people call a scam, is what several legitimate corporations demand you need to do the job. Having industry knowledge plus a degree is far more important than having just industry knowledge. Do I want a CPA doing my taxes over those who are self taught...absolutely. Do I want my doctor going through the necessary science courses prior to med school...absolutely. Many bachelor degrees set the solid foundation for higher education. The whole argument about taking your core curriculum can be solved by taking AP classes in high school. Suppose I took the majority of my core classes in HS and was prepared to start my declared major courses instantly? Is college still a scam or have I essentially started paying towards my to degree. Many people are successful without degrees, but many are also successful with them, and statistically speaking people with degrees end up making more money in their lifetime over non graduates. Fact.

It wasn’t a linear plan of study a major, get a job, buy a house etc. I value those years tremendously. 41% drop out, AND of the 59% who don't, only 55% get jobs relating to their degree. 55% of 59% is 32.45% (and I didn't need college math to perform that calculation). So less than one third of people who go to college get what they paid for.

One third of people get something they paid for, but not really bang for the buck. Many people spend 4 years to get a BA degree and earn ~60-70k annual, while a blue collar with 2 years training can get 100-150k. Our society is falling as we stop valuing the real work that everyone need.

Neither my husband nor I have jobs in the field in which we went to college for. Our degrees are basically worthless. And almost 20 years later we still have $20,000 left of student loan debt.

True story, my son got a BS degree in Geology. One day his job was to dig a roughly 2 foot wide and deep hole, pour water into it up to spot on the measuring stick, and time how long it took to drop to another mark, refill with water and repeat A passerby asked and he told him what he was doing and the guy said "That's a job?"

And that's the generous stat XD it's actually worse since most are too embarrassed to give real opinions in polls lol I'd say 25% is more accurate

This kind of thing reaffirms my belief that the woke movement and the rainbow paraders are all bark and no bite. They don’t disappoint in proving me right.🙏
