What happened to the new water overflow system built under the river at Penwortham and down strand Road to Clifton Marsh. It covered more areas as well, stainless steel breather pipes for the big culverts can be seen at either end of strand Road and other designated points.

Shaws Arms used to be a lovely pub. I used to swim and fish down there at the sandbank you wouldn't fish there today. Wow I've never seen the Ribble that high, it must be an incoming tide at the same time as the water coming down the Ribble valley into Walton-le-Dale.

We lived there in 1977 and there was a terrible flood just after we moved in. There was a rowing boat on the road charging 10p to row people down the road as the buses couldn’t get down. One house had water pouring from the Ribble through the back door and out the front door, we were fortunate, we only had it in the basement. The carpets survived.the water also came down Winery lane from the River Darwin and into the backs of the big houses. Glad we don’t live there now.

It's not global warming, it neglegence of the councils keeping the drains maintained. Thus the rivers will flow a more natural coarse. Having drains keeps rivers from reclaiming land that would otherwise be under water.

the main problem in this area (and i do live there i was stuck inside on this as it happened ) the are 2 hill roads thet lead down to walton le dale , one being london road an the other being cinnamon hill . plus the river had rose over 34 feet overnight ... so this is what you get if you live in an area like i do bugger all to do with the council .. so atleast try and get a fact or 2 correct ...

You're not the only place. In Gisborne, New Zealand where I live the Council has kicked the infrastructure can down the road for the 40 years I've been here. Fixes that could have sorted out the sewerage issues many years ago and future proofed would have cost about 2 million in the day. Now we're looking at over 100 million.

Great video Reggie even when you're showing the floods and the problems it's caused people you still manage to inject some humour and humanity into the situation you really are a top man. Just a question how much worse has the flooding in your area got and do you think like in the area I live the council keep allowing houses to be built in inappropriate areas. I live in the south coast near Chichester and this whole area is very low lying yet the council just keeps allowing the building of more houses which causes more floods.

You can tell its through blocked drainage because the lower drains are free from water. If it was an overwhelming amount of the drainage system water, I'll be at each point on the lower system .
