Wolf Creek Pass Storm of the Season | GoPro POV

Last Week I saw a forecast calling for multiple feet in the southern mountains of Colorado. Like most southern storms in Colorado Wolf Creek was going to get hit the hardest, with most forecasts showing 4 feet. Naturally I dropped everything, loaded up my car and headed south. I spent 5 nights car camping up on the pass and was blessed with some of the best powder skiing I have ever experienced. I spent the first 2 days at Wolf Creek Resort before my friend Sam could get down there. Then the next 3 days exploring the backcountry skiing easily accessed off the pass. It's always a good idea to go into new zones with low expectations but on the third day exploring the pass we stumbled into some of the best tree skiing Colorado has to offer. Hell yeah man! I had the same waist deep day out there in 2012/13. Dropped everything and drove the 4 hours from Breck. Everyone on the whole mountain was hootin' and hollering all day. So epic man. Thank you for the comment, I always ski with a buddy in the backcountry. I was with my friend Sam in this video although he’s only in a couple shots. I was alone one day at the resort but felt comfortable with the terrain

Thanks man, I’ve never tried the normal jj’s but when it’s untracked or truly deep they are the best skis I have ever owned. Definitly too light for chop and heavy pow however.

Most of it was a short hike from the top of the lift, but everything after 6 minutes was in the backcountry!

What flex rating(boots) do you prefer for these conditions?

I have 120 flex boots and love them for most conditions. In the spring when the big couilars are safe I occasionally use an old pair of 130 flex boots for the extra stability
