magic channels are such trash now. Either assholes wanting to spend your money on magic cards or cry babies whining about crap. Most have absolutely no clue what they're talking about and I'm convinced Rudy has played less than 12 actual games of magic for one week in middle school. Too bad I don't believe in hell, but I can at least hope for wizards to reprint all the old shit so you can be at the front of the caravan to pound town. We all know this new trash they are pumping out isn't worth buying and soon enough the "bobs" will realize they can mint money destroying your collection so good luck on them keeping that reserved list "for the people"

College is so friggen expensive, but people in Washington HAD to know as soon as the government started writing blank checks for education, these institutions were going to exploit that. Though, this could blow up in everyone's face as we have millions of students obtaining ungodly amounts of debt for degrees that are worthless (e.g Gender/Race studies). They won't be able to pay these loans back in any meaningful way, and why do I have the feeling it'll eventually get offloaded to the taxpaying public?

I agree with Rudy about someone can buy out a bunch of garbage reserve list card then make money in 10-20 years. But there are still risks; - Do I have the capital to move the market? (If you don't buy enough, nothing happens, buy more and its bigger the risk) - Will MTG still be played? (Think about all those dragon ball z games that went under) - Will Reserve List be abolished? - Do I need that money I spent on those cards before the 10-20 years? - Will I make money faster in another investment? Nothing is black and white in this world. Everything is grey. I appreciate Rudy saying the stuff that needs to get said. People don't think enough for themselves. I swear there are so many people who will buy something just because its on sale. Look at the f*cking original price. Is something worth $40 and now discounted to $20? Have they ever thought that the price was inflated to incorporate the sale price? Maybe that item was originally only $30... $20... But nope. Most people don't think about things and want to be baby fed all the information. Hence why rich people continue to be rich. They take advantage of the ignorant public.

Contrary to business degrees, my engineering degree actually feels worth it. I am working in the field now for a little over a year. I think that hard sciences are different than business when it comes to school.

Interesting. If WotC plays wack-a-mole with card valuations on new material, then only policy protects old material. "Reserved list." I agree with revised and back, but I think that reserved list cards past that risk a BIG drop, as I believe they will be reprinted. Old cards will still retain value due to supply, but Wizards will not stay true on this chincy promise on an unregulated market. It's bound to happen at some point...the good ones will know when, and that's when you'll see some spikes.

So what about the day when the counterfeit cards are so realistic you can't tell the difference
@Volkbrecht7 жыл бұрын
Not going to argue with the emotions part, but I'm kind of curious whether the trends in old Magic cards are really that reliable. And I'm not thinking reprints here. But how sustainable is the customer base? So far, I have the feeling that old cards are still also bought for the purpose of playing with them. But what if that stops? And it's not so unthinkable that it will stop some day. Will reserved list card prizes hold up once they are purely traded as assets? Or what if somehow, somewhen, a "next big thing" comes along and MTG stops being a thing altogether? What I'm trying to say here is that to me it does not feel like a smart move to throw a couple grand on some card to lock it in a safe for ten years. Magic cards are not precious metals, they have no intrinsic value.
@buk67087 жыл бұрын
