When I purchased my first home the bank pulled my credit history and it showed I defaulted on my car several years prior... ironically before we closed on the house the statute of limitations ran out for them to collect on it and it disappeared from my credit history. The person processing my home loan actually told me not to pay the debt that it was pointless. It is funny how debt works ... I would be worse off I had paid the damn thing off ... but since they couldn't find me it just disappeared from my credit history. Rudy is so spot on ... but damn you are funny as hell when explaining this.

Rudy I enjoy watching your videos but it is these special videos you do that I love the most. I feel like they transcend the boundaries of Magic or Pokemon and just start to show people that there are different approaches in life that work. Please keep making videos about topics like this because I can take any person from any background and they can learn from this video.

As soon as you pay interest, you working for somebody else than you. So you need a good reason to do that: Either you can make more money with the loan, save rent with a selfowned house or something else like that. Just taking up debt to buy plastic things, is a mistake.

Junk debt buyer took me to court for debt that was 6 months away from the statute of limitations. Outside of the courtroom, their rent-a-lawyer asked me how much I wanted to settle for. I responded by asking for an original contract with my signature on it for the dollar amount in question. They had dick, nothing, zero, zilch. His first words to the judge were "I'd like to dismiss the case your honor."

That bit on emotion overpowering logic and critical thinking really spoke to me. I'm a very emotional person. I enjoy taking care of people, it makes me feel good. I always offer to pay for lunch, or buy a game so a friend and I can play it together. I frequently do things like this, and it adds up. I let the good feelings get in the way of my financial stability, and that's just not the right thing to do for me. Thank you, Rudy. It's not too often that I glean something of such personal relevance from your videos, but when I do, it's always something very powerful for me.

Wait, you owe credit card company money and in America, you can just hide from them and not pay (ignore phone calls, don't pay). 5 years later you're off debt free? What?
@Starfury117
@Starfury117 7 жыл бұрын
So its not illegal to just run away from debt collectors? Like you could "lie" once and get away with it? Say you have 10 credit cards for whatever reason because your credit rating isn't completely trashed. And say each credit card has a limit of 2k, which isn't that too high. You can just "steal" 20k at the cost of your credit rating for 5 years? Afterwards you can do it again? That seems very messed up. What do you lose for having poor credit rating? I assume you won't be able to get a mortgage, line of credit, credit card. Does having a poor credit rating affect your family or significant other? Thanks for the information. I wonder if Canada is like this too... Honestly though, thats so messed up.

Just read a bunch of information because this was very interesting. There is a chance you can go to Prison for refusing to pay debts. www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/the-new-bill-collector-tactic-jail-time.html But yes, all the other information I read, you can totally just run away with all the money. Though there is a risk that the creditors will demand money from your employer who will then garnish some of your salary to pay for the debt. There is also a risk that if you do what Rudy says and completely ignore the creditor, you might miss a court order which would then put you into prison for failing to obey the court order. Information in the link above. So yes, it does feel somewhat risky to try to steal money from credit card companies. Also read for Canada. Basically same as America, also no jail time for refusing to pay debt, but they can seize your assets... So basically bankruptcy lol. I'll just be the dumb Timmy and continue to pay my debts lol. That said, you should totally get credit cards and line of credits. Even if you don't use them, they are amazing for emergencies. And if the interest rates for them are low enough, you can use that money to invest for higher returns. Risky move but thats how smart people make money. Its hard to have $300000 dollars of liquid capital to invest with. But if you have a mortgage of $300000 dollars with an interest rate of 2.5%, you could technically invest with that money. Just don't pay it back too quickly and now your liquid asset increased by $300000. If your investment have 5% return, you just netted 2.5% of $300000. Pretty damn good. Again, its risky because you're investing with money you don't have. So if you lose on that transaction... Ouch. Thats what I learned from my Econ class at University, very interesting lessons. I love listening to businessman talk. Cheers to Rudy.

thanks Rudy! My wife used to work as a credit analyst in 2009, so I know all about lending turning viciously into risk mitigation and serving customer credit lines a big old jam sandwich. Another good video and spot on -- I had to learn this the hard way back in the late 1990s. There's a corollary to this, which will affect some people who are trying to pay off old debts: Once your debt is sold to a debt collector do NOT under any circumstances try to pay back the original debtor. It won't help your credit score, and it could potentially cause you more issues down the road as it can actually extend the date to when it finally falls off your report.

I loved this video. It didn't apply to me or my situation, but I love that there is someone out there talking about these things. I would like for the advise to be more specific though. Maybe you could grab examples from what people message you about, talk about them in a bit more detail (without revealing their names of course), and then move on to something more general. It doesn't need to be super scripted either. I just think that, since this is a series that will probably last a good long while, for each video to be more useful to at least a few people, what you talk about should be just a bit more focused. Keep up the good content Rudy!

I can't get into specifics but this video is very validating for me. I haven't played magic since I was a kid but I love the way people into games talk and carry themselves. When you say something like "wizard reprinted this card because" it's like you're using a certain bank of knowledge that not many people have, I see the same thing in my other hobbies too, so even though I don't play the game I get a big kick out of the channel. I have also made tons of money thorugh unorthodox and bordering on unbelievable methods and it just seems like it's free for the taking. Our outlooks on life are very similar in many ways so it's sick to see your success. no homo.
