This machine has taken the vertical wood splitter to another level. The engineering and thought that has gone into this machine is pretty impressive. If I was in the market for one of these, this would be my choice. I think your getting a good bang for your buck in comparison to everything else that's on the market in this category. The other guys are either gonna have to lower their prices or improve their machines...simple as that. I think you guys are gonna be real busy making these.

Been waiting for this one! Excellent! Certainly rivals Allen family firewood splitter on speed. I do think Dana's ( s'more firewood channel ) design for gravity feed linkage is extremely clever along with a flow control and so that edges your out in that, but bar none, YOURS IS THE BEST VERTICAL SPLITTER BEING MANUFACTURED AND SHOWN CURRENTLY. Everything else being built now has got a lot of catching up to do if you ask me. A LOT....... Your splitter works so well that the conveyor has trouble keeping up. I'm not sure but maybe something on the paddles of the conveyor to grab the wood better/quicker or maybe a little wider trough?? I don't think the conveyor is fully optimized BUT It's a nice problem to have when a manufacturer makes a single wedge splitter that can outrun a conveyor and not vice versa ha, ha. Maybe that's the key..... Take a sip of water, soda or whatever while you wait for the conveyor to catch up. That way a person can stay hydrated while they work. Man, you guys think of everything 🙂 Thanks for the video. Going to watch this again now. Bob, keep 'em coming. Enjoying them.

Hydraulics to raise it straight up, same with log lift. Thanks!
@dropshot196711 ай бұрын
To reduce the kick out of logs while splitting, you could add a grid of weldbeads under the splitter head. That would give the logs something to grip while being split without adding too much resistance while manipulating the logs.
@WolfeRidge11 ай бұрын
We are planning to test this before adding. These logs were really twisted grain, and I don't know if anything would have helped much for some of them. I had to hold some of them crooked to split.
@gushoo607611 ай бұрын
@@WolfeRidge Yeah, it's got to be a tricky thing... Grip enough to hold wood but not too much to hinder sliding the wood under the wedge. That is one of those things where the best that can be done is a less than ideal compromise. Excellent job Chris. You all should be proud of this baby!

Thanks for the video. I’m curious if the conveyor is more useful for those dumping straight into a trailer or totes than those stacking their firewood. I noticed that you use hydraulic hoses the whole length of the conveyor, with the high cost of hydraulic hose and for a cleaner look wouldn't it be better to use steel line for the long runs with short supply hoses on the ends? Initial cost may be higher but repairs would be less costly and I think it would look better. Good video.

I am not sure how much it would save on cost, but know that hoses can be made at any hydraulic shop in the country in no time. If a steel line fails for the customer, they will be waiting days for a replacement part from us...

I would say the VS is better for these reasons and more. Honda iGX engine with electric start standard - start the engine and adjust throttle from the operators position. Well, I just see something that is a pretty good form of flattery. One of Wolfe Ridge's competitors has just COPIED one of the features on their machine. They still have a long way to go to be as good as Wolfe Ridge, but them copying the idea is a good acknowledgment of how good The 17VS and 17VS-C vertical splitters really are. Did I say they still have a LONG way to go to beat or even equal the 17VS-C? Well, they need to try a lot harder it seems! Honestly, theirs are not as good as your 17VS without the conveyor either. They make good stuff but no where near you in the vertical game. Not even close! I would give my specific opinions but since I do not work for them or get paid to explain to them where they fall short, I'll leave this just as a general thought. Anyway, please feel free to copy this comment to your other vertical video's since I think folks have a right to know before possibly spending their hard earned money on an inferior product and regretting it later. I think if people REALLY LOOK than they will see this brand that copied your idea and all others fall very short. No folks, I don't personally know either owner ( Chris or the other guy ) but I know quality and this splitter by Wolfe ridge is the very best being made that I know of. This post is not meant to be negative to the other manufacturers, it is to make people look at the verticals and see for themselves that there is no contest right now. Anyway, I hope that I have helped someone by bringing this up and again a big thumbs up to Wolf Ridge for their vertical offerings!
