I just want to thank you for actually displaying what firewood is all about… you’re not drinking every Friday night in front of the camera acting like your soo busy filling a bundle stand.. or trying to use your wife as a thumbnail to pick up for lack of views like some others… Nope it’s good ole honest reviews and real life work in the woodyard.. your channel by farrrrr is what most should learn from👍🏻 Thanks Chris

Love the 22RS! You had some fair dislikes. I will say for the people watching that when ya go up to the 28Pro with adjustable wedge that eliminates the wood getting stuck on the bumper. Ya just raise the wedge a bit. As for the teeth on the log lift I’m with ya on that. As long as the machine is level wood really doesn’t vibrate off the lift. It’s gone too fast😂 Definitely a noticeable difference on power for ugly wood over the Ultra. Great video Chris👍🏻👍🏻GNI

Jeremiah Haas from "Outdoors in the 608" had a special wedge made for him that goes down even lower than standard to make bundle wood. Split some 24-36in pine rounds on my Wolfe Ridge 28C with the single wedge. Almost no scraps. Got more dcrap from the pine bark that fell off than from the wood itself. The single wedge works really nice to bust the big rounds with.

Those big blocks can sure be a pain to maneuver around, but I will say, they definitely pile up fast once they’re split. That’s some impressive power to split through those knots to come out as smooth as I milled board.

Hopefully Chris and company at Wolferidge take these suggestions and tweak the design because it's a great splitter. Ive seen others that say that table end pinches the wood and the other suggestions are on point too. Im with you as far as those big rounds, it's so much easier to take 30 seconds and cut into half than try to maneuver a several hundred pound piece of wood. For me the auto cycle would be perfect, I grab rounds out of the back of my dump trailer so everything is waist high and no bending over!
@thefirewooddoctor24 күн бұрын
Here is another solution. I split some bigger pine rounds yesterday, 24-36in diameter with the single wedge on my Wolfe Ridge 28C. Was going for bundle/campfire wood. Didn't have any trouble handling the halves that were split. Waiting for some nice big hardwood to see how well it works when I leave them intact.

That first big round you showed looks just like this massive hunk of hard maple I've been putting off dealing with, lol. About 24" long, too- so a big ol cookie needs cut. I'll have to split it right where it is, as no way am I lifting a piece of green hard maple that size into my truck. At least it's strait, and without knots or crotches.

Either a jack on the back of the splitter or a pin adjustable drop foot which may be easier to use no crank in the confined area at the back of the splitter, lower the tongue slightly drop pin adjustable foot and then raise the tongue with crank.

That's a nice looking machine. I think that's a good idea with the lift teeth. I hung a split up on the teeth on my 28c and bent the lift! With my super splitter it is a terrible tow! I let the tire pressure way down before I tow it (wouldn't go more than a mile or two) that keeps it from bouncing so much.
@iffykidmn817024 күн бұрын
I believe most people inflate the tires to whatever the max side placard states rather than for the weight of the trailer/splitter, ex two tires rated for 1500lbs each at Xpsi equals 3000lbs and then wonder why a 500lb splitter bounces down the road.

I roll the rounds instead of wrestling them. Have split some 24in oak on my 28C without beating up my body. As far as towing goes, extend the splitter cylinder all the way forward to help with the tongue weight.

If you were buying one of their smaller splitters when it comes to options, would you choose the log lift or go with the auto forward cycle and small table? I feel like that 6 seconds to fumble or grab pieces without holding onto the control would be very helpful, I have no idea if I would be getting a lot of large large rounds being far away for tree services but I to am an advocate of ripping rounds. I’m hoping they come out with electric!

@@InTheWoodyard Cool! I have some 20" or so live oak rounds, the bigger ones had to be ripped for us to load in the truck, and I am curious how it would handle something like that.
