hacked mons aren't better than any other mons, though. the amount of time you spend soft-resetting is not analogous to your skill. banning genning is a formality because pokemon company can't endorse hacking their game, but there's no actual advantage, other than not wasting hours and 140 dollars every year, usually more respectively. This is jealousy and desperation for attention, which is what you've built your career on for the past decade. You can do better than this.

The reason that there seem to be forfeits in competitive Pokémon is because, In Pokémon competitive play, resistance is the average of an opponent's win rates. For example, if you've played against three opponents with 2-0, 1-1, and 1-1, your resistance would be 66.67% (1 + 0.5 + 0.5 / 3). Resistance affects standings, and if you have the same match points as another player, resistance is the tie breaker. The Pokémon system ranks you higher if you played against better opponents than that player. Some players decide to forfeit matches because their friends will make it to day 2 if their opponent have a higher resistance.

Never seen someone cry so much over something they don’t have any control. Many have brought legitimate reasons for genning. Not saying that this system is totally fair and just but it’s a similar issue with trying to prevent PEDs in sports. I mean free speech but not sure of the goal. It clearly isn’t stopping what has already been happening Also claiming that none of these players have any skill is baseless. When you say '2 + 2 = 4 isn't a disagreement', that's a fallacy - genning Pokémon is against the rules, that is objective fact, but the disagreement is a moral one over whether it should be that way. Obviously anyone caught with illegally obtained Pokémon should be DQ'd (though it should be handled better than it was at worlds), because those are the rules as they stand, but the disagreement is over whether those rules should change.
@altariamotives16

I'm not going to go (too much) into my viewpoint on what the rules should be, because it's unnecessary and plenty of people already have. That said, I will point out the privilege it shows to essentially go 'it only costs a $200 console, 3 $60 games and 2 $30 DLCs to be able to compete' when not only do a lot of people not have that kind of money (especially with Showdown being free), but it's also a game geared at young people who aren't as likely to have access to that kind of money. Sure, it 'only' costs $450 to have all the tools to compete, but what's wrong with making it more accessible? (/genq) I feel like this is what people are getting at when they say the problem is with TPC, since if every game had every Pokémon available then you could make that argument more easily. I'm not looking for a fight, I'm just trying to point out perspective (and slightly gauge your reaction).

And just because he's playing a friend of his doesn't mean he wanted to. It's just how the bracket was set up, and that's all it is. As for the Raichu, competitive players WILL take their time to hatch if they want the right IVs. And if he hacked it in, first of all, who helped him? Second of all, who cares?! So long as he didn't give it max IVs or illegal moves, it might as well be a regular Raichu. If he wants to put in Pokemon so it takes less time to make the team, fine. That's just preserving time. But why would he, if he gets a thrill from doing competitive and building teams? As for the timer stalling, it said 'discouraged' not 'do not do it'. Timer stalling is a win con on some teams, and that's the way it is. If you can find a way to prove he did cheat, or that he enjoys doing so, then go ahead and put this in a video and tell me i'm wrong publicly. But since I doubt that'll happen, what will you do? You don't even watch VGC except to scope out so called cheating, you said it yourself. How would you know what's cheating and what's not if you don't watch the content? so let me get this straight, i watch wolfey but im not a "fan" i could care less if he did cheat or not because i dont subscribe, or follow him on any platform nor do i care for competitive pokemon, but this caught my attention because at first i will admit i thought it would be some cringe video where they hated on a youtuber for views, but i listened and i can see where you come from but i do got some genuine questions. I am a bit of a novice when it comes to competetive pokemon and i don't know too much about Evs or wtv. But what im hearing is that the main problem is not necessarily that ONLY wolfey is a cheat and is doing these things, the whole "competitive community" as a whole is corrupt because other players do this too and the company/ tournament allows for these things to happen because things aren't being enforced? I felt like the Ev thing i did not quite understand fully, what im understanding is that you are saying it is impossible to get perfect evs for pokemon? or atleast the consistency that he has? AGAIN im a noob and have not played or dabbled much in pokemon at all, ive never owned a game and have only really watched here and there, but that to me seemed like it would just take alot of grinding to get that to happen? unless im missing something, what really sold me was the time-stalling thing. I did not know it was against the rules, it almost made me want to discredit this whole video as just a stunt to get views till you actually showed and pointed out that the rules clearly state that it is considered bad sportsmanship and that players would receive a punishment for doing so. I have not watched the battle but seeing how his fans pointed it out and tried claiming it was a legit strategy, i saw that you was cooking a bit. This is the first video that i have watched from your channel but i saw a video from wolfey in my recommended from 3 years ago where he speaks out about a youtuber that is claiming he's hacking mons? im assuming he's talking about you. I did not really watch that video properly but he mentions something about his incineroar and how the pokemons are different or inconsistent? and the reason for that is because he had other people catch it for him like his subscribers and people he trusts so they are all different because they were caught and ev trained by other people or something like that. Idk at the end of the day that's crazy to hear but like ive said, i dont care enough abt competitive pokemon to do further research, just thought this was interesting and wanted to write a comment.

Genned mons don`t give you any advantage in the actual tournament. You still have to play the game with Pokemon that possess legit stats with your own gameknowledge. You obviously shouldn`t break the rules, but this atleast doesn`t hurt a single soul and is only a rule since Nintendo/ Gamefreak have to make a stand against their games being this vulnerable to hacking. The Problem with all this is that you can`t trust any Pokemon you get traded which is a huge problem since competetive Pokemon isn`t accessible at all. There are mons that you can only obtain on discontinued hardware and software which cost you a lot of money and time investment. Tldr: Don`t break the established rules, but this video is peak stupidity born from jealousy. I say this as a fan of the sport and not Wolfe. Wolfe just happens to make the best content out of the sport on KZbin. Edit: This is only meant to address the issue with hackmons and not the other allegations

Legal advantages exist in all competition. Having less money and needing a day job to fund your olympic dream doesn't mean you are allowed to take banned substances to make up for less time. Genning objectively grants access to knowledge and resources others can't obtain. Time for practice and experience is a competitive advantage. Having access to infinitely more resources is an advantage. A legit player can't switch their entire team to keep up with the meta changing every week or adapt the night before a tournament without losing practice or sleep. Showdown doesn't save time training Pokemon and you will still need to breed/train dozens or a hundred Pokemon over the course of a season because of Regulations and Meta Shifts Not my fault you are an idiot that can't handle basic comprehension skills to understand HACKING IS CHEATING IN VIDEO GAMES naturally. Game's fault for being made that way. Competative players play to battle, not to grind stats. I don't blame people for hacking in mons, it should honestly be common place for tournaments to have customizable EV and IV spreads, natures, and movesets relegated to what is technically possible for that specific mon even if it's not probable to acquire in game. In other words, tournaments should just be like Pokemon showdown where you can build a team and access their statistics at will. There is no serious esport that requires as much grinding as Pokemon does regardless of how much easier it's gotten over the years. Imagine if in fighting game tournaments you had to waste time leveling up your main against specific opponents using RNG debunking tactics just to increase a single stat instead of using that time to practice. Grinding is a waste of time. Period. It's the reason why hacking is such a "problem" in the first place. It's come to the point where I think it's the opponents fault for not hacking since the majority of successful players do it anyway. Is it really cheating at that point if nearly everyone is doing it? VGC should just allow access to a team builder so contestants can just punch in their spreads and battle. That's what they're there for anyway.

Insane the mental gymnastics you go through to fail at justifying being a scumbag. The game is more accessible than most forms of competition. The rules are 100% voluntary so it is 100% blame on the players for choosing to cheat rules they opt into. Game Freak wants players to work for their Pokemon so instant Pokemon acquisition is only wanted by entitled brats. Banned substances aren't a problem in sports because training is too hard, cheating is wrong you brat. That's all there is to it. Its still cheating because there are legitimate competitors being disadvantaged at every event and having prize money and opportunities stolen from them by hackers. All esports require more grinding. TF2 and DotA is thousands of hours of playing the game until you even snuff competitive. It takes over 100 hours to level to 30 in League and you still haven't even played against half the champions in the game by that point. Shooters are dexterity games with countless hours practicing aim and movement. Fighting games are hundreds of hours practicing combos and frame data. Hard work and playing the game is demanded for any esport. Pokemon is no exception, loser.

Just the term hacking alone is wildly overlooked. I mean, i get there's skill in playing the game once the things are obtained, but i feel like you shouldn't be allowed to hack to take shortcuts, it's just bad taste. To give my own shot at a metaphor, it'd be like printing out cards for a TCG tournament. There's skill in playing the cards but you're still cheating by printing out cards and not obtaining them normally. Anyways, this is certainly wild but just keep your head up. Is the type of situation that we all know that people use fake Pokémon but there is not hard proof. Like when everyone knew Al Capone was a mafia boss but there was no proof so police couldn’t do anything but eventually fell for tax evasion. Nothing will stop cheaters, but I feel there is more that can be done to have official ways of getting legal pokemon in tournaments. At regionals and worlds, you could have official paid breeders who could be requested to get and trade to players given proper heads up or pay extra for short notice. Pokemon has a special competitive environment where the company can offer solutions outside of "just do it". There would have to more logistics that have to be looked at, however it could be on the table. To me, this feels like being an athlete and having someone else do your programming for training. You as the player know the game but still choose to not engage with some of the behind the scene aspects and pay someone else to do it.
@Verlisify

@writingblackroses Ай бұрын
@@Verlisify You can still ban cheaters and think about other solutions, even if they would be difficult to execute. Cheaters should be punished accordingly if and when they are caught, however there is a problem that needs to be solved regarding hacking the pokemon themselves in so they can practice with their teams more and change them easily. I watch other gaming competitions, primarily League of Legends, where official tournaments run by Riot give players all the champions by default to ensure an equal footing on the big stage. As someone who likes watching high level play of a game, I just want the best of the best duke it out on a field that's as even as possible. Personally, I think at a certain level, Worlds or international tournaments especially, no player should be using their own account or equipment and Nintendo should give all players a way to "make" their pokemon for the tournament and lock them in. I have commented before that, as someone outside looking in, the need for a player to be a "trainer" feels unnecessary when a lot of it is just busy work so they interact with the rpg part of the game as Nintendo desires.

I love pokemon from the games standpoint but when I tried to get more competitive. I didn't care anymore about that side. I still breed perfect pokemon as a bit of a hobby. Took me almost a week of chain catching Ditto to finally get me a 6IV ditto from Let's Go. And that is just one of the fun things I like to do. Having legitimate 6iv Rotoms and whatever else. But it is impossible to get into a competitive sport if it doesn't look fun. And modern VGC doesn't look fun. The steams are really slow paced. Lots of time between matches. And really hard to follow the nonsensical plays you see most of the time. It is like no wonder the viewership for VGC is so low. And once you do a little digging you find out most of them cheat and by that time any interest in the eSport is gone. VGC will not be able to sustain if Wolfy gets banned is so stupid. Because he already comes off fake in his videos. His breeding tutorial felt more like this is why I cheat than him actually understanding breeding mechanics. And over all him being the golden boy of VGC is why I think the eSport as a whole has been crumbling over the last few years.

Breeding was tedious due to only 1 IV being transferable prior to Gen 6, but doable, but getting the IVs you need on your legendary pokemon often took about as long as shiny hunting, if not longer. In Gen 5, the time sink required to build a viable team in the first place was extreme and would have majorly gatekept the competitive scene. Gen 6 was about where everything became more reasonable to obtain due to having 3 guaranteed 31 IV stats on legendaries and Destiny Knot allowing for 5 IVs split between parents to be transferred. This made obtaining perfect IVs on normal mons simple and legendaries still tedious but reasonably so. Gen 7 introduced Hyper Training and made the whole process super farmable aside from 0 IV on Attack on Special Attackers, 0 IV Speed on Trick Room mons, and some specific IV value for Stakataka specifically to get an Attack boost from Beast Boost instead of Defense. Cheating in current gen is unreasonable, but I can at least understand why people did it a long time ago.

Cheating is never understandable lmao. It was way worse in older generations since it created Pokemon with better stats than legal players could obtain.

@Verlisify Blegh, disgusting. Now, more than ever, I feel like we should be promoting to the youth to be their own individual, to improve themselves and achieve their own success. Part of me wants to do a full clean-up crew on this whole scene and make it at least respectable, if it was even respectable in the first place.

I’m new to the Pokémon scene and watched wolfie because KZbin just hard pushed his videos non stop once I started watching competitive VGC. I never knew about any of this cheating and I assume it’s the same for most of his fans. I assume most people watching are also new and don’t know any of this. I only just found this today and it really changes everything! Nice videos man. It’s a shame it takes a lot of digging to find any of this.

Yeah the whole community pushing Wolfe has so many strange effects. Oh BTW just to give more strength to these statements Verlisify commented in the video: Johnathan used Thunder IN FRONT of a Raichu with lightning rod 😂 (During the finals BTW) which clearly just indicates how bad his decision making and his game knowledge is, and that's probably how he got to the finals, because of hacked pokémon. 👍 Just saying.

I agree with you. The community is corrupt. You do back up your claims with facts. I would LOVE to see the community flourish based on a legit community that listens to Pokémon company rules, but YOU DO insult people who disagree with you. You’re another steadfast, adamant, person who backs up what they believe in. I use to LOVE your content, but seeing how you use to genuinely enjoy uploading content, to seeing now uploading where it seems you only do so to defend, or accuse another player hurts. I wish you success in your purge of the corrupt vgc scene, I’ll be back when it’s over!

the problem with the social media era is no one ever opens their heart and apologizes. They are just fake and only do the thing that benefits them most. When he retires he will say he cheated and gain support by defending cheating since the community loves cheating despite stealing 6 figures in prize money and only having an online following from cheating.
