I think it's worthwhile to mention Mousehold's other signature move, Tidy Up. It not only raises Mousehold's attack and speed stats by one stage (it's best stats depending on the build) but it eliminates ALL entry hazards, sticky web, and substitutes on the field. Two things: One is that this move will not fail even if there are no entry hazards on the field, so it's essentially a Dragon Dance but always with extra benefits Two is that you should NEVER use this move if you got Maushold into the field via Shed Tail, as using this move clears your own substitute as well

I love the backstory behind Baxcalibur. So Baxcalibur was inspired by two things. Kaiju, or giant Japanese monsters that are humanoid in shape that attack cities (like Godzilla). And the Concavenator, an actual extinct genus of theropod dinosaurs that lived approximately 130 million years ago and was first discovered in the Las Hoyas geological formation near Cuenca, Spain! Fun fact: Arboliva is the only Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet that learns Terrain Pulse. After being hit, terrain pulse is Arboliva's strongest move with no drawbacks. Paired with its low speed allowing it to invest in other stats, it can stay in for a long time and do a ton of damage while healing its ally.

That's exactly what I thought when I first realized what his stats were. I also thought that one day we could get a counterpart line of chess pieces as well that weren't used like Knight, Rook and Queen. The Queen counterpart of Kingambit would be very fast and less bulky compared to Kingambit since in chess you are protecting the King hence Kingambit's high defense and the Queen would be less bulky and way faster since it is the best and most mobile piece on the board. I seriously want a convergent evolution concept of this like they did with Wiglett and Toedscool or maybe just a brand new line as counterparts.

I just wish that there was another line so there’s be a full Chess team in the game. There could even be a mini game where it’s literally just Chess but it’s with the Pokémon in the next Generation. Of course with an added gimmick that makes it different than just Chess.

I thought you would be proud to know that as of 6:17pm MST 12/8/2022, I reached Masterball tier in Pokémon SV ranked online. Thank you for teaching me how to do something that I've come to really enjoy!

Thank you sm for helping to develop the vgc community! These videos are super helpful! I was wondering if you would do more videos where you would take an in depth look into specific new pokemon like you did when swsh came out. Those were the videos (the duraladon one specifically lol) that introduced me to your channel and really got me interested in vgc because I was able to find the specific new pokemon that I wanted to use. I also liked how you would explore the pokemon live in the video because it gave a sense of what traits to look for when choosing a pokemon, what pokemon might complement it on the same team, and just generally made me a better teambuilder. I can't wait to see what you do in the future!

"Being able to swap it out with, I don't know, actual resistances is as youth say, POGGERS" Wolfey be like *"How do ya do, fellow kids?"* ...something tells me Clive has inspired you! 😂So Tatsugiri going into Dondozo's mouth is a reference to mouth-brooding and how some catfish species will keep their offspring safe by holding them inside their mouths. Why is a sushi Pokémon a Dragon-type? Because in East Asia, carp are associated with dragons. In Chinese mythology, the tale of Longmen states if a carp can leap the Dragon Gate (a waterfall), they transform into a powerful dragon.

Personally I love Armarouge a lot more since it's a special attacker.
@burnellll Жыл бұрын
@@akilcharles3473 Fair. Personally I like Bitter Blade as a move, and clear amulet + fire typing makes Ceruledge immune to all attack drops. It tends to catch people off-guard, and with bulk investment and a good support next to it, it can be really hard to remove while doing consistent damage.
@GothamThotSlayer Жыл бұрын
@@burnellll which nature did you run on your ceruledge if you don't mind me asking? I have one and made it adamant but I'm still lost on what kind of move pool i should give it. Plus it has weak armor. Any tips?
@matthewcarlorcine018 Жыл бұрын
@@GothamThotSlayer its better to have Flash Fire and since it is on the mid-fast tier, you should do Jolly, to atleast outpseed the strong mons there (namely ttar, kingambit, etc.) For the moveset, run Bitter Blade, Close Combat (for dark and rock types), Protect and Shadow Claw I guess, or a priority move like shadow sneak if you want.
@burnellll Жыл бұрын
@@GothamThotSlayer I'm running adamant with flash fire. I recommend running mostly bulk, but some speed investment is good. I calc'ed it to survive a few important things like timid fluttermane's shadow ball, although that specifically isn't relevant anymore in this format

In my personal opinion, Cyclizar belongs on here, at least as an honorable mention. Fast, relatively strong, great ability coupled with it's signature move shed tail, and is a rapid spin user. The only real downside is an ok typing with 3 weaknesses and 2 types it's stabs can't hit, but it also has an immunity, and mid defenses if I remember the stats properly.

Goldengho is even MORE crazy in singles because it blocks both defog and rapid spin, making it the single best option for protecting your hazards.

Bisharp has always had access to sucker punch as an egg move. I know because that's how I used mine in UM (i skipped swsh). Swords dance, sucker punch, defiant, and built with maxed atk. Can tank a few hits or swap into something like sticky web and sweep. I'm sure with it's lower speed and higher bulk that Kingambit is fine, but also better for trick room. Gotta get myself a 0 speed IV one cause I always saw giving bisharp speed as a bad investment anyway.

Here’s a little fun trivia for kowtow cleave. It comes from the same Japanese word (叩頭) which means a bow where your head touches the floor. In that respect it’s a fun name
@rrr-mi9kv Жыл бұрын
“Kowtow” is actually from the Chinese word (the languages do share a lot of vocabulary, but pronunciation is different). The modern Japanese word for the same action is “dogeza” and indeed the attack name in Japanese is “dogezan” (a pun on “zan” which can mean “cut”).

Honestly I’m not sure if this belongs on the list, but at least an honorable mention is Espathra. Espathra has two great abilities in opportunist and speed boost. Opportunist will copy the opponents boosted stats whenever they use a stat boosting move. This can also be paired with mirror herb to get those stats 2x. It also has access to stored power, which can make it the best stored power user in the game. Furthermore it gets dark type coverage in dazzling gleam and roost. Another amazing thing about it is the potential in speed boost with stored power. This is the first stored power user to get passive boosts after every turn. Plus, it also gets calm mind, and you can give it mirror herb to copy an opponent’s stat boost once to further add onto your stored power. They have a good Hp stat of 95, but pretty mid defenses, both being 60. However it’s special attack is 101 and their speed is 105. Overall, they’re very unique and can be very very good if used correctly.

Hey Wolfey, Great video as always! I usually don’t write comments but I wanted to let you know that Tinkaton can also be used defensively due to its typing and its ability Mold Breaker, having mold breaker allows it to spread para on pokemon which ignore status such as gholdengo while also landing huge gigaton hammers. It is not the best set but I see it often in OU tier.

Cetitan and Baxcalibur are two extremely good Pokemon despite having the Ice-type. Ice has always been my favorite type so I'm always happy to see it get buffs. Loved when you did that getting #1 with Glaceon video because Glaceon is my favorite Pokemon, and this generation has been very kind to Ice-types by, ironically, allowing them to get rid of their type, but also not take chip damage from their own weather when their type is switched.

Thought there would also be a mention of Armarouge and Ceruledge having Weak Armor as an ability. I've already seen Armarouge in particular get its sharp boost in speed and start deleting mons before they can act with Armor Cannon and Expanding Force while in Psychic Terrain. I've also seen people trigger it alongside a Weakness Policy by targeting it with stuff like their ally Pokemon's Aqua Jet.

Although not related to the video, eviolite primeape will be seeing some play for sure. Primarily because it also gets rage fist, and has a higher speed stat than annihilape with only I believe 10 less attack. And yeah yeah it's HP stat is low, the damage counter on Rage Fist does not get reset upon fainting. Pawmot and Rabsca's revival blessing does *NOT* reset the damage counter when annihalape and primeape get revived Meaning: Both Eviolite Primape and Annihilape both can be swapped in and tank as many hits as possible (or use Maushold's bullet seed in doubles) to knock them out. Upon being revived, they both have a 300 base stat attack. So we have a moderately bulky 95 base speed and 105 base attack, both respectable, with a spammable base 300 power move that hits the majority of pokemon for neutral damage. And we ALSO have a bulky base 90 speed and 115 attack pokemon to do the same thing Annihilape will be banned at some point. Or revival blessing will be banned. Regardless, if annihilape gets banned the you have primeape eviolite as a backup. Yeah annihilape can run choice scarf and just spam the move, which primeape cannot, but a 95 base speed stat is fast enough that with sticky web and/or string shot/icy wind will make primeape faster than the almost every single pokemon. Terrifying pokemon. Everyone flipped about Houndstone, but I said since day 1 that annihilape and eviolite primeape are a THREAT

I think Arboliva has a really good move in terrain pulse, 100 base grass type is worth not being able to click it right away. Since it's slower you usually still can, since opposing pokemon will set up the grassy terrain for you

I feel like giga drain is the best grass move for it since it aids with its bulk
@iddoboomgaard353 Жыл бұрын
@@princess_sarina_aria_elysia That's fair, I haven't used it much since I like the fact that base 100 + grassy terrain boost + stab can delete a lot of things, makes it really good on trick room. But giga drain with assault vest could be really fun.
@Castersvarog Жыл бұрын
One thing worth mentioning with Arboliva is how it has Terrain Pulse, one of the only users in SV I believe. Combined with Strength Sap, it’s low speed and it’s Seed sower ability and it’s able to cripple an attacker and get a strong 100 base grass type move in one turn.
@EvilToe Жыл бұрын
I'm actually surprised I haven't seen more people talking about/using Espathra. Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like it has a lot of potential. It can be a great special sweeper with base 105 speed + Speed Boost and Lumina Crash, but it can also be a decent support pokemon as well with Frisk and Ally Switch/Helping Hand. And even its signature ability, Opportunist, I feel has a lot of potential with how common Dondozo is, as well as set up moves in general like nasty plot Gholdengo, etc.
@TheKampfmaschine Жыл бұрын
11:27 an attack not missing is the best secondary effect for me. From experience I feel like anything below 100% accuracy is unreliable because even with a 5% chance to miss, that move would miss EVERY time when I absolutely need it to hit

Other than that, great video as per usual! You're killing it!
