Excellent demo of this classic rack mount rompler. I love how the Proteus sounded so full even without any built in effects. The American synths from the likes of E-mu, Ensoniq and Kurzweil really had their own very special 'grittier' sound signatures that really beautifully complemented the more cleaner Japanese synth sounds from the likes of Roland, Yamaha and Korg.

Things were much simpler back then. :) I remember this being a benchmark for realism, at least for us kids. :)

@@madness8556 Well, it all depends on the perspective, today it sounds funny but back then yes, it was something special.

@@BojanBojovic I was absolutely blown away when I played a Korg M1 for the first time as a 16 year old way back in 1988 the week it was released in Australia. I thought that I'd actually died and gone to synth heaven playing pianos, guitars, drums, saxes etc that sounded like real instruments. And then there was that infamous Universe program 00 that still gives me goosebumps 35 years later when I play it in my M1 plug in. Great memories 😊

Sounds like something Dave Rossum would do. His eurorack modules also have unique names and his user manuals have a lot of personality to them.

Will it be possible to do the emu proteus 2 orchestral with all sounds including the percussion 1 drum roll with the rim shot and the cymbal at the same time please, I’m a big fan of emu proteus products

14:08 did you play that pattern? The one with the "Radical Drum" preset? It sounds identical to an old 90s house jam. Ill find the title and try to post a link. It's uncanny.

Does anyone else experience a low output volume when playing their Proteus? I can't seem to find much about it. Otherwise, great sound and a real bargain.

hello everyone, I have a Proteus 1 and I want to know if anyone knows how to control the intensity of the LCD screen, thanks
@wolfgangSvukan Жыл бұрын
Go to MASTER section and (with DATA knob) find VIEWING ANGLE option - there you can adjust LCD intensity. Next time try to use online Proteus User Manual.

My beloved Proteus 3 suddenly darkened the screen and began to emit percussive noises knock knock knock knock, it doesn't smell burning, it was working normally, I turned it off and after uncovering it, I checked it and closed it again, it turned on normally but after a few seconds the error continues, do you know what it will be? some help? Thank you

I'm an electronic repair tech. Unfortunately, it's impossible for even the most skilled repairman to diagnose that fault condition without personally examining your Proteus. It's the same thing as if you were to ask a doctor online: "I have a pain in my foot. Can you tell me what is causing it?" It's impossible to know what's wrong with your foot unless a doctor takes a look at it and has it x-rayed. If you leave your Proteus to a skilled repair technician who has a lot of experience troubleshooting electronic devices, then there is a good chance that he will be able to repair it for you. The only thing I can tell you is that it does sound like an electronic fault inside your Proteus. I would not suggest that you try to repair it yourself if you don't have the right knowledge and tools for it. You could easily end up damaging the Proteus and making the problem even worse. You could even risk getting an electric shock if you poke around inside too much. Leave it to someone who knows a lot about electronic repairs and you have a chance to save it. Either that, or sell it as defective on eBay. Just please don't throw it away, because I do believe that your Proteus can be saved if you leave it to the right person. Also, keep in mind that these units still do have some value even as defective "spare parts" units.

Yes, they sound pretty shitty and they sounded sterile back then. Usuable sounds are far and few between. It's just some old dudes with terrible taste that get nostalgic over obsolete tech, because it represents their old unrealized fantasies of writing a pop hit.
