The Blood Angels are singular, united force. Dante has sole authority over Nihilus and the successors accept that unconditionally. Their all operating to his plan and he is commanding essentially a small legion strength, at least 40 000 Primaris. Not to mention any other forces he encounters as they reclaim more of the lost territory. Their going to fuck shit up.

The veterans who survived The Devastation of Baal are probably the most battle hardened Space Marines in the entire imperium. Their leadership with the thousands of Primaris means the Blood Angels should be one of the strongest legions in the future

I still remember listening to the audio book. When Guilliman finally arrives. There's a scene where the defenders of Baal finally are able to get a message out or get one in. Maybe its a ship going into orbit or something. Then bam, The Crusade has arrived and Guilliman is absolutely not going to let his brothers bloodline be extinguished if there is anything at all he can do about it. Edit: I also recall the minor story line of the man and his son. A failed Astartes recruit. He left a strong hail young man and returned a dim witted strong man with mental problems. At the end the father passingly mentions this to an Astartes apothecary. Then the Apothecary says he can fix it, but in the past the resources to correct the damage would have not been approved. Now they can be approved given the need for new recruits. The father gets a mercy killing as he is infested with Tyrannid ammunition that is about to kill him. The son goes on to become a space marine presumably. I really wanna read a book about that Space Marine and see what he remembers about his life and just how things turn out for him.

Also in that storyline the dim witted son actually saved the father at one point during the Tyranid invasion, making the father happy and finally recognising how unfairly he had treated his son. At the end when he gets accepted into the Astartes the father is so happy and immensely proud, but he had already accepted his son for who he was before that, even faced with the prospect he'd be dim all his life. That's what made that story so touching.

I love that when Dante put out the call even the renegade Knights of Blood arrived quickly to help defend Baal. And Dante welcomed them as his brothers despite their renegade status. Hell I Dante could have put the call out to the sons of Vulcan and Corax and they would have come. Not sure if the Iron Hands would have responded but I think some of them would have.

They were sent on a penitent crusade previously with only 300 battle brothers but ran into Hive Fleet Kraken. By the time the call was sent they had no substantial force that could help Baal.

Guillimann would have commissioned the Primaris marines long before it was apparent that the SWs wouldn't have any sucessor chapters, so he likely expected a lot more Sons of Russ to be needing reinforcements. I imagine part of the reason the SWs got so many was because there was nowhere else to put them. Also, as noted in earlier additions, the SW fleet is enormous when compared to regular chapters. The SWs already had the fleet elements needed to support that many marines. Mostly though (and from a meta perspective) I think one of the special things about the SW is their suspected size....much like the BT. This move maintains that impression with the fans.

The chapter itself is still limited to 1000 marines, although they did receive new ships and gear in large quantities. But with Dantes semi-formal position as Legionmaster and very official position as Warden of Nihilis, Dante can now call upon tens of thousands marines of Sanguinius's line. Dante then sent most home to their own worlds, but retained several chapters-worth of marines from many different Sanguinius chapters. The direct force under Dantes might be around 6-8 thousands marines.

Not just the Sons of Sanguinius, but all chapters in Imperium Nihilus. If memory serves this includes the Salamanders, Iron Hands and the Ravenguard. Those four could be a nigh unstoppable force.

Yeah also dante was already charasmatic enough to summon all the blood angels as if he was in control of a legion anyway. They respected him enough to follow him "as equals" but still defer to his leadership. Even chapters he didnt summon or were in bad standing showed up,

I agree there were about 30 to 40 Chapters at Baal when Bobby G arrives so all of them are answering to Dante this gives them something like legion strength so no the Blood Angles don't need to go over strength as they have other chapters answering to them the other issues are fleets the number ships is limited they are down to just 2 Battle Barges so having more Marines is probably not that useful until we see more Ships available.

I think G-Man knew when he split the Legions up, they would never truly stay split. Take the Blood Angels and the successor chapters and you pretty much have a Legion and they came together in defense of Baal. Same with the Imperial Fists with their Last Wall Protocol and Space Wolves with their non-compliance of the Codex. Call G-Man “The Legion Breaker” all you want but I think he knew the successor chapters would never abandon their parent chapter in a time of need.

It's not about stopping them coming together in a time of need to face a mutal threat, it's about atomising the Forces of the Astartes into small Indepedent Chapters so that no single Traitor can ever again command the power of a full Legion. The Successor Chapters might have heeded the distress call of Dante, but they are not under his Command they are fully independent and can reject his authority should they choose. In fact I think a couple Chapters do reject his authority and do their own thing, and as for the rest there's a bit of politicking involved to get them on side right? (I haven't read all of Devestation of Baal). I think as far as Guilleman is concerned, things are working as intended. He broke the Legions in practice, but not in spirit. The bonds of Brotherhood remain.

The Blood Angels are probably going to become an Icon to the Dark Imperium similar to the Utramarines in the Realm of Ultramar, and with it comes the resources of half of the Imperium to support them and their successors chapters recruitment.

I'm loving these chapter specific videos. I feel like Guilliman kept with the letter of the law by empowering Dante to create as many new Primaris warriors and chapters as he needed, but also circumventing the intent of the law by making Dante a defacto Legion commander.

The few surviving Blood Angels from Baal have been through the wringer. They're the best of the best of the best, battle hardened as they come, because they're all that survived. What the Tyranids did on Baal is the equivalent of culling the weak and the strong, leaving only the lucky and the unkillable. Under their leadership, the Blood Angels will turn out to be a force to be truly feared across the galaxy.

The position as Warden allows Dante to effectively become Sanguinius reborn, with the suasion to direct the activities of all the chapters of the Sons and thereby all but reconstituting the Legion. It also provides a foundation for nihilus not dependent on wholesale acceptance of the Primaris. It would appear Guiliman effectively did that as well with the Space Wolves. Strategically, he snapped victory from the jaws of defeat and secured two separate major pieces of the Imperium.

With almost all the sons of sanguinius at Dante's beck and call, why would Guilliman even have to build them up to greater than chapter strength? All he has to do is make sure all the chapters of the blood are topped up and that the lot have enough transport to get where they need to go (battle barges and sufficient auxiliary craft and such). Gives Guilliman plausible deniability if he accused of legion building-he didnt build a legion, he merely "fixed up" a lot of existing chapters.

I have said it before that, the Blood Angels got way more than the SW, so Blood Angels and successor chapters number about 25 to 30k troops that's massive. The SP maybe number now 10k , can wait till the Lords of Terra realise that in my view the two most loyal chapters are back at full strength. I know there are arguments for others being as loyal but at least these two have very specific roles that they play and between them the two greatest leaders, that other chapter masters would follow

Lore wise the Blood Angels are definitely stronger and continuing to rebuild the chapter and homeworld. With Dante the Warden he will begin to make Baal the "Terra" equivalent on this side of the galaxy. Tabletop wise we need serious help.

I think, in this case, Guilliman did what he always had intended to do with his Space Marines and just happened to have the best possible piece available to him with Dante. Guilliman is the ultimate bureaucrat in the imperium, and with that he is also one of the ultimate pragmatists when it comes to handling situations. Dante is universally respected and he is one of the few Space Marines that has proven he stand for humanity above everything else, to include the safety of his chapter. Bobby G always intended for the Ultramarines to serve as statesman and officials following the end of the great crusade, and with his reawakening the need is paramount. Almost identical to the requirements of the Emperor during the Unifications Wars, Guilliman is mounting a crusade to re-unite the Imperium, and fortunately for the future of Humanity, he is all too familiar with the result of leaving ambitious or insecure baseline humans in charge of key areas that are heavily exposed to the influence of Chaos. These campaigns are taking place over the span of hundreds of years, and even with rejuvenate treatments baseline humans could ultimately age and die before Guilliman is ever able to stabilize a region and return, and in the case of the Imperium Nihilus it is even more pronounced because there is no guarantee that he will ever be able to return in any meaningful capacity...Take all this and combine it with the fact that we know during the course of the crusade that Guilliman has been expending every effort imaginable to build his library of knowledge regarding his position in the current timeline and everything that has taken place since his stasis, He would be extremely limited on choices in the Northern half of the Imperium that would hold even a fraction of the respect that comes with Dante's name. Ultimately, I think that there is much less political maneuvering than there is fortune in this choice, and having a Regent named, that has already proven capable of uniting the imperial war machine on his own regardless of the implications, shows him to be a leader on a very unique tier and allows him to stand toe to toe with institutions such as the Inquisition if need be without putting his chapter alone in peril or having to have Guilliman act directly. One thing that I am very interested in, is a look at what new abilities and resources Dante is given aside from the new ships and Sky Fall.

I mean, realistically, the BA will have very likely crept significantly past codex compliance at this stage. Larger fleets, massive new space docks, the upgraded Arx Angelicum. The BA have always had an oversized scout company too and I'm sure it's mentioned that the company is now bigger than ever. I'd be surprised if future lore doesn't outright say the Chapter is sizes larger than previous codex compliance.

8:57 I mean, Dante's burdens have pushed him to the point of wanting nothing more than to die, but he refuses to abdicate his duty to mankind. He literally met Sanguinius in the warp after the swarmlord mortally wounded Dante, Sanguinius then healed Dante while Dante was begging for Sanguinius to let him die. He regained consciousness while he was crying out to Sanguinius to let him die as a sanguinary priest and the first company captain were trying to fix his wounds.

I don't know if I'm unique here, but I'd love to see a simple story of observance of the rebuilding by say, a Mechanicus Magos, seeing or hearing a real devotion and veneration for the broken ships and fortresses of the Angels and their passion for it, using it as a framing device for the entire rebuilding effort. Now that would be a "fly on the wall" series to see the entire effort and its results from an otherwise impartial viewpoint.

'Than' is for comparisons, 'then' is for temporal reference. (e.g. 2 is greater than 1. When counting you start at 1 then go to 2.) We're all human, at least back in the 21st Century; I'm not sure what lore there is about literacy in the 41st Millennia, but I'm sure they make typos and grammatical errors too in the monstrous bureaucracy that the Imperium has/will become.

There was no need to make the blood angels bigger then 1000. Dante leads every chapter in Nihilis and he startet his job with almost every successor (back to full strenght) at his side. The space wolves got so many new ppl, because there were no successors before the primaris came along.

If that is the case even 5000 Wolves are going to fall short of manning it all. Even if they didn't get anything from the Wolf Brothers the Space Wolves have half a Legion worth of equipment and less than half a Legion of Wolves with the Primaris bringing a lot of their own toys to play with and their own transport to boot.

While the chapter itself is only at 1000 Dante now has the authority to marshal the blood angel successors along with the blood angels proper. The thing is he has been doing so. The chapters of the blood are a legion in all but name if I remember correctly has a few of the story’s I’ve read set after the devastation of Baal has the blood angels operating “side by side” or “in command” of the en admins blades red wings flesh teeters ect… while not strictly braking the codex required numbers the blood angels are only fallowing the codex in name only but not in spirit, kinda like the fact that the sisters of battle don’t brake the rules about the high lords nor being able to recruit a single man to be there official fighting force since ya know they are no men but women.

One of the confusing parts is when does the Devastation of Baal occur now. The Cicatrix Maledictum occurs during the battle on Baal and Guilliman arrives with Primaris Marines shortly after that. Yet, Roboute Guilliman was resurrected after the Cicatrix Maledictum. Then, he went to Terra. Then, he started the Indomitus Crusade on the Imperium Sanctus. Then, he defeated finished up the Plaguewars. Now, he's about to cross the Great Rift to support the worlds in Imperium Nihilus. So, did he cross earlier to leave off some troops for Dante and then go back?

I think Guilliman intended to make the BloodAngels atleast 10k Astartes but didn't expect the loss of sp many Astartes and with his pull over the other Chapters it would be a Crusade force to dominate the Imperium Nighalis. However since the losses were so massive the BloodAngels got replenished and lots of Geneseed to build so they will have thousands of Astartes but it will take time to build just like it will take time for Baal and the red scar sector to become a bastion of defense and strength. Thus why the Blood Angels are gathering all the strength of stranded fleets with Mephiston leading them to Baal so they can Crusade. They are stronger then Space Wolves since Dante can call over 25k Astartes to his call just from the Chapters of the Blood alone. However it's spread across a large area doing more work. They are the true heroes of the Imperium.

One thing I don't understand: Reboute Guilliman Lord Commander had on his fleet ALL these Primaris Marines maybe in active or in some form of stasis ok? So he had acess to ALL gen seed and they where already implanted or he had some form neofite Just in need of certain gen seed that he colected on the spot?

Since the creation of the primaris and Dante's promotion I have always suspected that with them being cut off in the north the blood angels would seriously consider reforming the legion at the very least if not actually do it. It would make the most sense as that would be the easiest way to protect the north without the backup of the rest of the imperium. However that would be contrary to RG codex and probably would be seen or Dante thinks it would be seen as an insult to the primarch. Multiple chapters that will respond to a call from the angels is pretty much the same thing as a legion though.

He gave each "legion" several thousand marines is how I see it. I doubt he was ever actually tricked by Russ' trick of not actually breaking up but did not say anything because if he officially made an exception than everyone would want to be the exception to the rules so he just let it fly under the table. Now days he is wondering about the whole breaking of the legions so he would probably be ok with both groups working as a large force and just gave both "legions" sizable reinforcements to spread out how they saw fit. As for the ships, the Blood Angels, and co, are now responsible for half the galaxy, they NEED more ships to be able to cover all of that territory.

Russ’ defiance was against being told what to do and how to fight. He had no real issue with the chapter breakdown in theory, not only did he want Space Wolves successor chapters ringing the Eye of Terror he tried to do it and had the epic fail known as the Wolf Brothers. The Space Wolves split in half to make a successor and wiped half their numbers when they turned Wulfen. With less than two thousand Wolves RG didn’t press the issue. The rest of Russ’ defiance against the Codex is pretty much being told how to fight.

I agree with the point that Guilliman did this with intent, but you have to look at the timeline of distributing the new marines. once Gulliman received where did he go first? He b lined to Angels. Not knowing what other chapters needed what kind of reinforcement’s I think he was conservative in filling the ranks only back to where they should be. But what he did for the wolves is a great point that I missed… he handed over so many new marines. My guess is the intent of that transaction would be to be able to request something from the wolves that would likely not be bargained for without such a favor. My question is what does he want from the wolves in return that he cannot get from any other chapter?

With the return of Magnus and Prospero, the threat of all the new psykers and the level of corruption un the Imperium, Guilliman probably want the Wolfs of Fenris to do what they were made for : Fighting corruption and psyker. Futhermore, Guilliman truly respected his brother Leman and his sons. And lastly, i think Guilliman believe in the return off his brothers at some points, so he want them to have a good fighting force.

So if the number of Primaris delivered made up for the huge losses does that mean if there was not a Tyranid assault the chapter of the blood with their new primaris would have number well over the chapter limit of 1,000? Did Guilliman know of the tyranid threat and made additional primaris? So maybe the chapters of the blood DID get the wolf treatment but the nids killed off most of the non-primaris brothers???

I think that Guilliman has well known that the Wolves treat the codex as their father had; nominal compliance at most. He saw the key issue to the codex as the separation into chapters, and he had his sons comply with that. Beyond that, there was no need. For the 9th, their mission is very different, so the codex was seen differently from the start. As wardens of the North, their power yo lead is in their respect and nobility, which they have in spades.

I have a question for whoever is knowledgeable about this. How does one pilot a Titan? What are the requirement and how many pilots one Titan? Could a Primaris pilot the Titan? I'm very lack in this area.

Titan's pilot is called princeps. They become one with the titan's machine spirit by connecting their neural link with the titan. But still, need a crew to manned the deck. Try watch helreach movie to see a picture of how it was inside the titan.

The Vlka Fenryka don't work and play well with othets. They treat the betrayals they have suffered as if they alone have suffered betrayal. They are also willfully forgetful as this is the Primaris reinforcements are hardly the first non Fenrisian born sons of Russ. The Blood Angels on the other hand, can not afford to set themselves apart as the Vlka Fenryka do. This goes a long way in explaining their different responses to Guilliman and the Primaris Marines.

The Primaris were the first nonFenrisian Wolves since the Horus Heresy. The first round of Wolves were Martian and Terran but their gene seed had no interaction with Fenrisian blood so they weren’t dependent on it, on top of that the VI Legion was always noted as being small so the problem was probably already there, it was just made worse through the Great Crusade with the Wolves having small numbers, a high turnover and their tendency to get posted to the defiant worlds that needed to be made an example of rather than worlds that welcomed the Imperium with a Legion parade through the capital cities. By the time of the Horus Heresy the Terran and Martian blood had simply been filtered out. By the time of the Wolf Brothers gene seeds that hadn’t known Fenrisian blood was spent.

In Betrayer, Lorgar confirms that Sanguinius is all but uncorruptible and this seemes to apply to his sons as well even when they have been tricked there resolve to honor there father causes major headaches for demons even when the demons set the conditions so heavily in there favor that even a momentary slip up would doom a whole chapter in an instant. If lorgar knew this so would the other brothers meaning Dante is the perfect bet to for guillermen goals.

If the wiki is to be believed, and ALL of the successors were restored to full codex strength, dante has 40-42ish thousand sons to command. If all of them were at 30% strength, Dante scored around 30k Primaris.
