Good list Barry, i agree with most of your choices especially Texas Chainsaw Massacre. i found Ronald Lee Ermey's character of the sheriff more unsettling than leather face in that movie. IT also i found the 2017 version a lot better than the mini series and i also love chapter 2. The 2013 evil dead is an incredible horror remake and i loved the hills have eyes remake too. One of my favourite remakes is 13 ghosts.

Great video. Even though all the movies mentioned are incredible, I disagree with your choices. Reason being, I've seen all those movies back then (I'm 52) and they had much more effect than the remakes in my opinion.

I understand. Growing up with the originals would make it harder for you to connect with the remakes. I feel the same about some originals I grew up with compared to remakes.

The Evil Dead remake for me was good until the end. Then when the evil comes and is killed so easily it just felt weak and pointless.

My only gripe with Chapter 2 is the kids are noticeably slightly older. That's it. Other than that, I love it, although Chapter 1 is the superior film. The complaints of the ending are ridiculous to me. If an entity feeds on your fear, than conquering your fear should be how to beat it. Plus it's not like they could go with the ending of the novel, both with subject matter and the way the story was told.

I agreed with pretty much all your selections. Some things that are labeled as a “remake” are really just stand alone films with elements and Easter eggs from a previous film. I think they are marketed remakes just to generate interest. Many remakes, sequels or prequels are hot garbage.

The House Of Wax (1953) is a remake of Mystery Of The Wax Museum (1933). Suspiria (2018) is vastly superior to the original. In comparison Dario Argento's feels like the Cliff's Notes version. The remake develops all the vague story concepts of the original to make a solid plot.
