I always felt like Dina was more of a forgiving type than Ellie. I liked that contrast between them. Dina puts her pain aside to take care of others and Ellie becomes consumed by her pain. This makes Ellie a pretty lousy partner but I believe she has realized that her self-destructive behavior has done irreparable damage to her relationships. I wouldn’t blame Dina for not taking Ellie back but I still hope to see it. At the very least, I’d like for them to receive some sort of closure for how things ended. I think a scene with Dina giving Ellie her blessing to go seek a cure would be powerful when comparing it to her pleading for Ellie to stay during the kitchen scene. It supports her understanding and selfless attitude that has already been established. Anyway, great video my guy! Subscribed.

I may think Ellie was already in Jackson and met Dina who told her that Joels guitare is still in the farmhouse so she went there looking for it. Resons why: 1. She has Dinas bracelette again 2. Her fingers got patched up by a medic and the biting wound when she got bit in Santa Barbara isnt visible 3. Ellie has no guns 4. she doesnt even expect Dina and JJ to be there (just a tougth ofcourse)

Sorry I just don't buy that theory. 1. Just because Ellie has Dina's bracelet doesn't mean she met up with Dina. Ellie probably had Dina's bracelet with her the entire time but chose not to wear it. I know that some people like to point out that she wasn't wearing it in Santa Barbara and you don't see it in her backpack, but those can also be broken down too. Of course Ellie wasn't wearing the bracelet in Santa Barbara because she was on a suicide mission. While you don't see the bracelet in her backpack she probably had it in there but chose not to focus on it. For example, Ellie leaves the farmhouse wearing Joel's jacket, but we don't see her wearing it in Santa Barbara or in her backpack. Are we to assume that Ellie would just discard Joel's jacket because we don't see it in Santa Barbara or the epilogue? 2. I don't know why people keep bringing this up but Ellie didn't need to go back to Jackson to treat her injuries, she probably took care of it herself. For example, Ellie treated Joel injuries in the first game after the university chapter, she most likely helped treat her own injuries, Dina's injuries and Tommy's injuries after the theater fight with Abby and she even treated her own injury by herself after her first encounter with the Rattlers. Plus, it would've taken her months to get back from Santa Barbara to Jackson that is too long go without treating her injuries. 3. Ellie doesn't need her guns shown in this section because this is the epilogue and there is no combat section. 4. While she didn't expect to see Dina and JJ at the farmhouse, she still hoped they be there due to fact she was nervous before she approached the farmhouse.

People hated part 2 only because Joel was killed off and they forced you to play half the game in the perspective of Joel's killer. When you sit back and actually pay attention to the characters, Abby is the most level headed, mature, compassionate, and reasonable out of them all. Her primary objective was to find Joel and kill him, that is all, and in the end that's all she did. She spared Ellie's life multiple times because she did not have any intentions causing of collateral damage. Ellie on the other hand went on a psychopathic revenge mission to blindly mow down every last person who was even remotely involved in Joel's murder. She killed indiscriminately and just didn't care about who got caught in the mix. Even after losing everyone and everything, Abby STILL spared Ellie's life on the theatre stage, and despite that display of mercy, Ellie just could not find peace and continued to hunt Abby down. Abby is far from the villain in this game, and I wish the community would put emotional attachments aside and recognize that fact. Ellie is the true piece of shit, and Joel was no saint either.

If the writers at Naughty Dog decide for Part III that Ellie is on her own now (doesn't go back to Jackson at the end of Part II) the story would start VERY GRIM with Ellie being at rock-bottom (people either died or left her). If the writers decide for Part III that Ellie and Dina have a reunion in Jackson (theory about the bracelet shown before she enters the farmhouse again) there would be at least some kind of silver lining after the events in Seattle and Santa Barbara and a little bit of 'going back to normal' (living in a community and raising a child). Now we have to wait and see. Maybe, this HBO TV series (I don't know when its published) will be a good starting point for the writers to collect ideas on how they will continue with Part III.

The look on Ellie's face when she said "Ok..." at the end clearly shows she didn't believe Joel's lie but wasn't entirely sure. Later when they got back home, but they're about to be captured by MAIK's minions but Pochi saved them and got taken away by MAIK's minions and then they later saved Pochi and they forgive him and consider him a friend. I loved seeing Ellie and Dina together but I feel like a lot of Dina/Ellie fans see Dina as this prize for Ellie to win back after one apology and not like a real human woman who has a baby to raise and a life to get on with and heal the way she needs to. I'd definitely want to see her in TLOU3 but I don't expect them to work it out straight away, if at all. I ship Ellie with her own self and her own redemption for sure - and maybe platonically ship with Abby and them having an honest conversation and striking some unlikely friendship/understanding in working together. I also imagine some TLOU4 where like 20 years into the future JJ and Lev team up in the game and work together but that might be a bit out there haha.

Or make part 3 a prequel split into 3 chronicles that last for hours the shortest being a complete story arc focusing on Ellie before during and after tlou1 including the american dreams comic being adapted into the videogames, reusing content from the left behind dlc with riley and the parts where you play as her in part 1 and witnessing what happens between when Ellie kills david to when joel and Ellie reach the hospital in salt lake city, seeing what happens to riley, see what happens during the last 3 weeks before Ellie meets joel in her perspective along with Marlene's. The 2nd would focus on joel and tommy over the past 20 years between the prologue to the main game, and the last would focus on Marlene and Ellie's mom perspective on the first years of the post apocalyptic world created by the cordyceps brain infection and before Ellie was born and Marlene carrying on with being the leader of the fireflies after the death of Ellie's mom, and how the fireflies came to be in the first place

I loved Dina too and was really worried she was going to die in part 2. It was interesting to see the difference between her and Jesse though. Dina never really stands up to Ellie and goes along with whatever she does while Jesse is willing to say no and do what he thinks is right. It's only at the farm when she finally stands up to Ellie and Ellie leaves her anyway. That was heartbreaking. Would she forgive Ellie? Possibly. The only other time Ellie really hurt her was at the Theatre when she called her a burden, but she was quick to forgive that. However she has JJ now and she has changed. The farm being empty makes sense. Dina's dream was to live in a farm outside of Jackson and later when Ellie asks her wouldn't it be lonely she replied not if you're with someone. Left on her own at the farm to care for a baby alone, going back to Jackson is her only choice and she loves Jesse's parents. It's unclear how long Ellie was gone for but I reckon it would be at least several months for her to travel to Santa Barbara and back again. Regarding reconciliation, Ellie's journal entries show she has doubts about what she was doing on the journey there and afterwards was struggling with feeling worthy enough to go back to Dina and JJ given what she's done. I would definitely be interested to see whats happened with Dina and JJ.

There are two things that are mostly overlooked in these discussions. Dina's "I'm not doing this again" could also refer to her inability do deal with mental issues of a loved person again. Her sister had PTSD too and was deteriorating mentally until she got killed under unclear circumstances. Dina's decision to walk away is one of self-protection mostly. She still loves Ellie but can't face the consequences of losing someone she loves again when she has JJ to take care of. It's basically the only thing she can do. Secondly I think Ellie going to California is generally viewed as a mistake but is it really? Because we can of course say she should have stayed but what would be the consequences of that? Ellie herself thinks she has no other option but it isn't about revenge anymore. She doesn't go there to kill Abby in revenge but rather bets everything on a last try to confront the source of her trauma in some hope of katharsis. Because the only other option is eventually suicide for her and that is not something Ellie wants to do to Dina. She actually references this in her journal during Day : "I would rather die alone than let her see me like that." Ellie leaving is her gaining some agency again and her also her way of trying to protect Dina and JJ from herself since she is very much afraid that she might hurt them by accident. And then there is the outcome of the journey. Not only does she actually save Abby and Lev from certain death but she also frees the slaves brining down the Rattlers in the process. You could actually see it as the start of her redemption. Because of that I find the notion that Ellie and Dina reconciling would go against the themes of the game not very convincing. It would only make sense if Ellie was going to California for getting revenge and that's clearly not the case. I'm also very sure that if we get a Part III it won't be about a vaccine at all. That was never the point of TLOU and a new game would be about Ellie finally finding her place in life.
@clemssss
@clemssss 3 жыл бұрын
I like your take. It's interesting.
@EOtekk
@EOtekk 3 жыл бұрын
Part 3 definitely won't be vaccine related. That is confirmed by the tape recorder found in the Hospital. They described Doctor Anderson as being the last person in existence to be able to develop a vaccine. Obviously, he is now dead. If a part 3 did end up happening, I think a very interesting story would involve Abby finding the new Fireflies, but they ended up being some kind of extremist group that goes rogue or something. Obviously Abby can't go back to the WLF after defecting, so she travel back up north to try and take shelter in Jackson and explains to everyone that the Fireflies have become extremely dangerous and are attempting to overthrow and take over all independent camps around the country. Ellie gets involved one way or another as a form of doing something for the greater good to finally clear her mind. Although, If I were honest, I think the chances of a part 3 coming out is very unlikely. These games take 5+ years to produce and the TV show is right around the corner. I think any expansions of the story is going to be carried out in the series. Fitting a game in there just won't work. They will clash and interfere with each other. The only way to make it work is if the TV show follows a completely different universe and storyline that is apart from the games, but I doubt fans will be up for that. Plus the producers already revealed that the first season will encompass the events of the first game, which means season 2 would have to follow the contents of the second game, in turn making season 3 the first viable extension point of the story past TLOU2. However, there is still a ton of lost time we never been exposed to. Joel has an entire 20 years unaccounted for.

I totally agree i interpreted the end pretty much exactly the way you did. I think ellie went to California mostly for herself (but not entirely). I think this decision also kind of parallels when Joel and Ellie talked the night after the dance and Joel said "if somehow the lord gave me a second chance, I would do it all over again." Saving Ellie at the end of part 1 can totally be seen as a mistake, it cost him his life, potentially majorly affected other people's lives (people who could have benefitted from a vaccine, assuming it was even possible to be made), totally affected the fireflies who worked relentlessly on finding a cure, and pretty much destroyed his relationship with Ellie. He undoubtedly made a selfish decision by saving Ellie. Yet he doesn't regret it. Similarly to how Ellie choosing to leave her family for Abby in California was selfish. And yet she found a sense of closure and it opened up a pathway for healing. In the end Ellie going to California was for the best in my opinion. It's not a happy ending, but that's just the way life is sometimes. This game is brutally honest about that. Even though the majority of the audience hoped for a happy ending, The Last Of Us is a story that isn't ours to tell. And I'm okay with that. Personally I loved the game and think it's a masterpiece even with it's flaws! I thoroughly enjoyed the unforgettable experience this game brought me and I forever will. :)

I just finished it for the first time. I think Ellie had lost her ability to visualize Joel's face because the image of his beaten face had replaced it and haunted her. You can tell by the way she tries to draw his face in her journal with the eyes crossed out. Eventually she gives up and draws the moth symbol on Joel's guitar to represent him to her. I think in that moment when she had almost killed Abby, she did get a flashback but it was of Joel when he was still alive. While painful, gave her just enough peace to let Abby go not in just that moment but forever.

Guys, please notice how Ellie doesn't have the guns with her in the last scene at the house. It is another fast forward to some time after she returned to Jackson. Her wounds healed and she is wearing Dina's bracelet again, so it is implied they talked it out and they decided to leave the farm. All of the stuff that remained are the things that used to remind Ellie of Joel. The symbolism of that might be that she finally let go of the bad feelings and she is no longer haunted by this unnecessary duty she thought she had. She came back one last time to play the guitar in the memory of Joel so she can finally move on with her life. She probably found another reason for her to live and that is Dina and JJ. A big theme of the game is family after all, be it by blood or just found by forming a strong bond - which is also why Ellie didn't care that JJ is not her kid. She loves Dina and JJ all the same and she loved Jessie too as a friend. Ellie spent a few months getting to Santa Barbara. If you pay attention to the notes and the dialogue, it was said that Abby spent a few months in captivity. She had long hair before she was taken by the Rattled gang and in that time, she got skinnier and her hair was cut. Dina was a big supporter of Ellie, but she was fed up with this quest of revenge Ellie kept on going for. The same goes for Owen with Abby. It was a parallel between those two main characters and their loved ones. Once again, it is hinted the theme of family and the importance of it beyond anything else. There is so much more to be said, but it is better for people to play and explore for themselves in order to understand better. If you found out something new by reading this, it means my job is done here. Always look for the depth and the meaning behind everything and keep your eyes open for the signs. Stay safe out there, fellas! Peace and love!

It would definitely be bitter sweet to not see Dina in the main plot of TLOU 3 but i really like your ideas about it and i do think that just cause Ellie came back Dina shouldn’t run back to her because Dina is her own person and she is a single mother because of Ellie. I feel like in a perfect world Ellie would stay and Jackson and her and Dina would slowly fall back into love but the world of TLOU isn’t a perfect world as much as it hurts to admit it. I really like the way you explained it. Definitely worth the two day wait.

Even if both people's feelings stayed the same, I don't think in good conscience that I'd want them to get back together in tlou 3 canon unless the entire plot was just about that, two people tramuatized and lost patching up their shattered relationship. Patch it up amicably? Sure. Have a heartfelt goodbye? Yes. Dina crying over Ellie leaving, knowing she did the right thing by protecting herself and JJ from the violent world Ellie would have meant? Oh yes, gimmie some of dat drama. But flashbacks to give closure are needed.

I loved when Dina left the farm because not only she was mad at Ellie she had a real reason to leave. She didn't know if she was going to have the same fate as Joel or the person that was going to hunter her down was as nice as Abby and will only kill her. What Dina was thinking in her head was, "I followed her on this warpath they could be hunting me down and will kill my baby. I won't let Ellie risk me and my son's life for revenge." And not only that they just suffered in a beatdown by Abby which put all of them on the verge of death so she lost all her bloodlust.

As a member of the LGBTQ community Dina and Ellie’s relationship and the way these games tackled Ellie’s sexuality was so meaningful. There’s always been some form of representation in film and TV but as a gamer I’ve never seen any meaningful representation in a story-driven game like this since Life is Strange. It’s a weird comparison, but they’re both games that just meant so much to me. I do really love this game and I think it went the right direction, but in a fantasy world I just want to see one of these couples that mean so much to me end up happy at the end of the story. What I would’ve loved to see is a scene, maybe near the end of Tlou3, where they decide Dina will try to forgive Ellie, like Ellie was gonna try to forgive Joel before he died. I think it would be a really good full-circle moment, Dina and Ellie being on the path to healing and Ellie dying to help humanity. It wouldn’t be fair to Dina, but neither was Joel’s death to Ellie. Atleast there would be some semblance of closure.

@Wolf of Thorns, your interpretation of what happened to Dina in the end was great, although, we all would like to fathom Ellie going back to Jackson and having a stable life until, of course, TLOUP3. Doing some research on how long it would take to get from Jackson, WY to Santa Barbara, CA on foot, is roughly 325 hours (Googlemaps). Considering the back and fourth trip, she may have been gone for months when returning to the farmhouse as it stated she ran into obstacles along the way which took more time. Where I'm getting at is yes, Dina may have left, but given the information from Jesse's mother's letter, Dina very well may be in Jackson. Realistically, a single mother would not just wander off on her own especially if there is help raising her child. Dina is also very forgiving and clearly shows how much she loves Ellie. By you stating Dina returning as flashbacks in P3 is a good analysis since Dina's story at this point shifted towards focusing on motherhood; unless ND gets super creative in order to incorporate Dina's character to have a major role in P3 like Maggie from Walking Dead.

"The Last Of Us, this beautiful and haunting world we all love to inhabit has never been about fantasies; nor should it be. The Last Of Us has always been about a sense of grounded realism in a devastated world with the cast of characters that run the full gamut of the human experience. And while there are rays of light, glimmers of hope, and the promise of what mankind can be if they work together, The Last Of Us has always been anchored and twinned by darkness, severity, and the threat of desperation." This is exactly why I parallel The Last Of Us so often with the film "The Road." While the narrative, atmosphere, and characters are different, themes of darkness, severity, and desperation, are practically the same. We don't play games like The Last Of Us, or watch movies like The Road to feel good. We consume media like this to satiate our own morbid curiosities of decay, survival, hate, love, fear, anguish, loss, and so much more. There was a reason Joel's death was so unexpected. There was a reason why he was killed off so viscously. We needed to, more or less, feel how Ellie felt when we watched him die. And to feel the unrestrained and raw hatred for Abby and her character. How else was the game supposed to motivate the player into this revenge quest? I will not say that part 2 was not without it's flaws, because it does have flaws. But I will end with this: If the first game's overall theme was about love and what we are willing to do for the people that we love, then the second game's overall theme was about hate and what it does to us if we let it consume us. Ellie allowed herself to be consumed by her hatred towards Abby for killing Joel and hatred towards herself for all the pain that she gave to Joel for years. And because she allowed herself to be consumed, she lost her relationship with Dina, and her ability to play Joel's song. She couldn't let it go. Not in time, at least. And now she's lost everything. Broken, and alone. Her greatest fear from when she was 14 and talking with Sam in the first game has come to pass. It's a tragedy.

I would truly love for Dina to be in part 3 if there is a part 3 but honestly would not be surprised if she wasn't. Ellie might bump into her but I dont think they will ever have a connection again. Its too painful for either of them to go there. JJ would be a big lad at that stage it would be cool to see him turn into a little warrior like his daddy. Another thought provoking video, Dan. I do agree with you on the Dina bit. As humans, we are nothing without our mistakes, our regrets, and our sacrifices. Sometimes, these are all separate things; other times, they center around one person or several. Many times, we can never go back to the way things were before "the change" in the relationship. As for Ellie's PTSD, yes...she is not going to recover right away. Some people learn to live with this the rest of their lives; some never do and commit the awful act of suicide. Others can wander around in the world, running away from their own fears and issues, never trying to face them or understand them. Well done, sir.

I loved the message in this video. Very realistic and genuine. As for dina, although she loved Ellie with all her heart, I sense much like many of us do when left as a second choice. Belittled. Therefore out of emotional response and due to having a baby, she did what she thought was best for the both of them. To move on, but it’s never in question of her love for ellie. I’m sure at least. I predict myself; that she and ellie will reconcile in the third part... As a writer myself, plot twists are always a choice. Who knows, she might have ended up with someone else or worse... she didn’t make it in her journey to wherever she headed off to. I like to keep an open mind.
@WolfofThorns
@WolfofThorns 3 жыл бұрын
Right on, Alumna. I feel you exactly, and I'm not 1000 per cent opposed to a potential reconciliation, as long as it feels organic and authentic and hard fought. I think, upon reflection, what seems disingenuous is not so much that they could eventually get back together, but the commonly propagated fan fantasy that they just immediately get back together upon Ellie's return from the west and everything is fine without cost or reflection upon what Ellie's choice did to her family.

@@WolfofThorns I absolutely take this into account when it comes to consequences of actions whether irrational or consciously. You have a major point there, logically speaking. But at the same time I do see dina’s soft heart for things she truly cares about. I see a possibility of more problems arising for the both of them, they aren’t newly coupled granted. They both now carry a responsibility to a child. So! The child may actually indeed and possibly play a bigger role in this seeing as years have gone by throughout the gamings ‘real-time’. But that’s just my opinion. As I said, I’ll keep an open mind.

I'd be ok. If Ellie tells her goodbye and that they'll probably never see each other again, riding off on the motorcycle while Dina breaks down crying, knowing she did the right thing while being conflicted with emotions, or whatever... I'm ok with it, if you wanna be dramatic. I just want Ellie to leave on acceptable terms with Dina. One flashback is all I want. Honestly...you are the first person, who´s videos i watch or talk to, who has the same understanding of TLOU universe like me. TLOU tries to give you the most realistic dystopian world you can imagine. There doesn´t have to be a happy ending or hope or whatever...it is just an option, like in our real world. This is the reason, why Joel didn´t die as a hero like many wished, because he wasn´t a hero. He was one of many, who killed like everybody, who tried to survive like everybody and who developed a very deep relationship with Ellie by coincidence. Did i like their storyline? Yes...Did it make me sad when Joel died? Yes...but it was very realistic. Same thing with Ellie and Dina. I shipped them so much, but it wouldn´t make sense to rekindle their realtionship. That wouldn´t fit into Dinas character. The whole discussion about Ellie wearing Dinas bracelet at the end of Part II was dumb. She loved and still loves Dina and keeps this bracelet simply as a memory.

But you're forgetting Dina's bracelet being slipped in at the end of the second game. It wasn't on her arm when she went after Abby the second time, but it was when she returned to the farm and her weapons were somewhere else. Jesse's parents said if they ever needed somewhere to stay, they could come live with them. So my guess is Ellie was saying goodbye to the house and to the guitar, and that Dina had possibly taken her back, but more likely they were at least on decent enough, cooperative terms (not necessarily romantic) to raise baby JJ together.

In that scene where Ellie heads back to the farm, there's a flashback of Joel playing the guitar. She says she'll never forgive him, but she's willing to try. To me it seems like after losing everyone she cared about, Ellie finally figured out what was really important. When she understand her complex feelings to Joel she also realized the limits of how much effort one can put into loving another person. She learned to empathize and understand that Dina, like herself, loves deeply. She was lost for a while but now she knows that if someone truly loves you, they'll always try to forgive you. So, she put down the guitar (Joel) and went to make amends with Dina.This is a heartbreaking ending, but it is also filled with hope for a new life to unfold.

I think it’d be super cool if the third game had us play JJ as the main character, perhaps as the leader of an organization like WLF or the Fireflies. I would like to see him as a young adult (25-30) and minimal reference to either Ellie or Dina (most references would take place in flashbacks). I think having him as a young adult who has fought and Earned his position as a leader would be great. I think it’d be nice to see him as a young adult because Joel was an older man who changed into someone full of grief and anger and the desire to survive, and Ellie was an impulsive teenager also full of anger. Being a young adult, he would be past the ignorance of young age but still in a time of his life where situations can change his personality. A few traits I would like to see in him are forgiveness and gentleness, like his mother but also someone who is not afraid to kill, defend, and protect others. He would be a kind character we would love too root for but also a frickin badass. This is just an idea and something I think would be cool to see in a new game. I would like to stay in the world but explore other characters and their lives and experiences. (It would also be the first time a person of color is THE MAIN character in this franchise and that’s SUPER COOL!)

Dina was a good fighter and worthy combat companion in the early part of the story, until she got sidelined by the pregnancy. So having her make a comeback would be great, there would just need to be a way to explain her leaving baby JJ to go on an adventure. OTOH, if something threatened the town of Jackson, she'd def be a Mama Bear force to be reckoned with. When Ellie left for her mission of revenge, I had the same feeling. Going back out there to finish the job isn't going to help, and what started as a quest for justice was becoming Ellie not facing her demons. A guy I deployed to Iraq with came back and had a hard time adjusting; he dealt with it by... volunteering for another tour. I wanted to talk him out of it but he seemed so genuinely relieved and optimistic I was at a loss for words. I learned a lot of unfortunate things about the human mind in that 5 minute conversation than I had in my whole lifetime to that point.

Though I feel 3 really should go back to a smaller focused story with Ellie maybe taking in a protector role for someone else but that we don’t have such a huge scope of story and characters outside of the vignettes we get in pt1. Even a solo Ellie story with flashbacks to Joel in the 20 year gap would be sufficient

When I finished the game, I remember telling a friend that intellectually I have a reading of the ending shot of Ellie walking away from an empty house leaving behind Joel's guitar AND a room of art of her life with Dina and jj, that says it's hard and painful but Ellie needs to let go and work on moving forward to build a new life. But emotionally, I can't help wanting fanfic of Ellie finding Dina, the two of them fighting out some feelings over what Ellie did, and then working to mend their relationship.

I agree completely that losing Dina and JJ makes a lot of sense, especially after Ellie repeatedly was willing to risk the life of Dina, Jesse, and whoever else to get her revenge on Abby. Dina would be perfectly justified in cutting of ties with Ellie after she kept on prioritizing her own self-destructive search for closure over the people who loved her. And while I do think that that would be super impactful and could be an important aspect of part III, I also think Naughty Dog could go in a different direction. I don't think that it is required for Ellie to be battling with her fear of being alone like she has in parts I and II, and I think ND will probably go on to explore some other themes besides losing loved ones. On top of that, I think that Dina, as we have seen before, would be the type that could forgive Ellie and continue their relationship as long as she knows that Ellie has moved on and can focus on her family. This, along with the bracelet theory, makes me think that Ellie and Dina will definitely have a story together in part III. I would pretty much be happy with either one as long as ND justifies it.

While I don't agree with your proposed story arc, I do agree with you on this. Dina and Ellie's relationship needs to remain severed if we are to keep the message from TLOU2 in tact.

Disagree. That game was so pessimistic, it needs some balance. Even Abby got some sort of “happy” ending. Actions have consequences alright. Joel killed the doctors so that he could save Ellie, therefore Abby killed him. Now Ellie has ptsd and she has killed a bunch of people. Ellie should get a second chance.

3:24 yeah, I don’t think like you in that sense. Being brutally honest doesn’t equate to not being able to have Ellie regretting her choices and Dina forgiving her. This world is cruel, but not everything has to be so depressing to be a successful game

I feel like Dina's gonna have a minor role in tlou 3(like you said) , but I'm interested to see what would JJ's feelings be. He will probably be older when the two women meet so he will( at least a little) be able to understand what's going on. How would he feel about seeing his other mother, who abandoned him( I think he will probably feel like was abandoned and would watn to keep Dina away from Ellie so Ellie won't be able to hurt his mum's emotions again). Even if he is 7 or 8 I think his feeling on the situation will be another visible consequence for Ellie's choice. Sorry for my English, but it's not my first language!

It would be interesting to see Dina having left ellie for someone else. If Dina is single is part 3, there’s a very real chance they could get back together. If she’s w someone, it will really drive home the point that ‘actions have consequences’. The game could flirt w reigniting old relationships much the same way that Owen/Abby did, to give us a glimpse of what could have been, but can never be , and thus make it more impactful
@residentjess

Abby didn’t get back with Owen cause he was shot dead. At some point, it was clear that Owen was going to dump his baby mama. Which is realistic.

I don’t think Dina will return. It’d be better to have her gone forever. She’s not a bad character. It just would fit the story more and make things more dark for Ellie. She could bring up in a conversation with someone “I loved somebody... once”

I would want Dina to be a plot in TLOU part 3. It could’ve been something from Dina’s story. Like she got dragged into something from her past and Ellie goes on a journey to find her. Or JJ gets taken somehow, and Dina & Ellie have to corporate to get JJ back. Just some wishful thoughts 😂😂😂
